Welbeck injury blow actually good timing for Arsenal?

It must be an extremely frustrating for the Arsenal and England international forward Danny Welbeck to have picked up an injury that looks set to keep him out of action for about a month, because Wellbz was enjoying a good run in the starting line-up and was in good form with goals for club and country flowing.

However, I do not see this as being a bit of typical rotten luck for the Gunners on the whole, because the timing of this injury to Welbeck is quite fortunate. The Daily Mail is reporting that the former Man United front man should be back after the next international break and the next game for Arsenal after that is away to Watford, so it would be good to have him back by then.

The games that the 26-year old will definitely miss, along with the three lions’ clashes with Slovenia and Lithuania, will be the Arsenal home games in the Premier League against West Brom and Brighton, the Carabao cup tie at home to Doncaster Rovers tonight and the trip to Belarus to plat BATE Borisov in the Europa League next week.

So not the toughest of fixtures to have to cope without the striker then. He would probably have been left out of the two cup games anyway and maybe even the EPL games which are likely to be heavily dominated by us and therefore suited more to Giroud’s target man attributes than Welbeck’s pace and running.

Walcott also needs some game time to sharpen up, and remember what offside means, while we also have the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Lacazette, Ozil and Iwobi to cover the forward positions. As long as this injury does not keep being extended like his previous one then have we actually got lucky with the timing of this latest injury to Welbeck?

  1. Welbeck is our top scorer not coincidence, dide might not be d most prolific or d most talented, buh dude gives over 100% single match, sanchez looks sooo unfit, uniterested ,plays more to d gallery now and gives d ball away more time than I could imagine, its better to have a committed player who is ready to give his all to d team than having bunch of dudes who cares more about their weekly wages, vrry bad period to miss welbeck

    1. Sanchez has always given away, or lost the ball a lot, the fact he patently doesn’t want to be at Arsenal is just highlighting the fact. We should have sold him for £60m in the last window, we’re now stuck with a player who is only giving about 70%, and the most we can hope for is £20m in January.

  2. No, Arsenal need Welbeck. He is one of few Arsenal’s players that is still willing to work harder for the team in the field.

Hopefully Iwobi could replace him while he is injured.

  3. For me TBH we should look to replace Welbeck. I am sick and tired of carrying players who are continuously injured. It disrupts the team too much. First, you miss you them for the period they are injured and then it takes a few games to get back to their best.

And TBH, as a central striker he ranks 3rd or 4th in my book behind Laca and Sanchez and maybe next to Giroud, so at the moment we have enough options.

Don’t get me wrong, I feel sorry for the player as I did for Diaby, Eduardo, Wilshire, Ramsey and now also Santi, but I think you have to choose as a club on how many injury prone stars do you want to keep on your books and build your future on? We have to many and this latest Welbeck injury once and for all confirms he is not the player you can count on for 30 PL games a season.

    1. Agree with you regarding Diaby, Santi and Jack (fingers crossed he now has a decent run) but while Rambo has had a few, mainly after his cruel leg break, Eduardo only had one injury. Unfortunately it was the horrific leg break he had that finished him.

  4. Seriously Welbeck, pull yourself together man, you can’t be going limp every-time you get up to full fitness. Maybe you’re trying too hard in the gym, find a balance and sort it out, or else we’ll protest! man.
