Wenger adamant Alexis not fully ready but focused on Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has stated that Alexis Sanchez is fully focused on the season ahead, whilst adding that he is not ready to return to the first-team just yet.

The Chilean came off the bench for a 15 minute cameo against Bournemouth today, making his first appearance since overseeing his move to desired Manchester City move break down on deadline day.

Arsenal had accepted a bid by the Citizens on August 31, only for to fail to persuade Thomas Lemar to join in Sanchez’s place, and then refused to allow the forward to leave the club.

There has been talk that Alexis could now become a problem for the Arsenal team in the dressing room, and that he could possibly down tools after having his wishes turned down, but Wenger is of the belief that will not be the case.

He said: ”Alexis Sanchez is very focused on the Premier League and the Europa League and he wants to do well. He is still a bit short physically. He will be quickly back to his best.

“The break came at a very bad time for me, we did not perform against Liverpool.

“Confidence is so important in sport and the best way to get it is to perform like we did today.”

Our win today will go a long way to boost the morale of our players, but it may take some time to get complete decorum back after a torrid couple of months.

The players will have to concentrate on their football with no room to move clubs until January now, and with the World Cup coming up next summer, stars will want to be at their best to assure themselves of a place in their respective squads.

Will Sanchez be able to concentrate on his football after the deadline day drama? Will today’s win help our dressing room to get back to some normality?

  1. Look at the bournemouth game. Like nothing happened. This is the issue. Its so easy. You can piss fans off to breaking point but in a few weeks everything is okay. I bet people think we can challenge for the league now.. If you want change make an effort. You guys sat quietly. Kroenke is probably thinking about how this happens once a year for a couple of weeks, who cares! All is forgotten and forgiven by “loyal” arsenal fans.

    1. So because we want change we shouldn’t feel good for arsenal win. Have read anything like everything is fine. The London gunners are on course. They should keep not showing for the home game. With that Wenger won’t have any excuse like atmosphere is too toxic for players to perform. If you have any doubt that won’t work you can take Stan out with either a bullet or some cash with that you are doing us a big, big favour parting away with your money or your life. There is so much more problem in the world than what Stan and his arsenal contribute.

    2. Only fans as deluded as Wenger will believe we have chance to win league!! Wait and see what Chelsea do to us and expose all our fralties like all the top teams do to us then we will all be saying the same things once again mainly Wenger out!!!

    3. Nothing is forgotten nor does it make amends for the the mistakes in the past BUT It’s time to move. Instead of criticising the team on a win m hope and pray they are learning a lesson from their past mistakes are are looking to improve .

Would you rather the team loose week in and week out ?? We all want change , a change of owner , an ambitious board that is willing to assist the manager in achieving greatness in the Premier league and Champions league as well as a new manager .

Protest if you must,,,,, outside the board members, manager and Kroenke’s house . Make their lives miserable if you must but don’t disrupt the team . If need be don’t attend the games , rather leave it for fans who would cheer their players on no matter what the scoreline is.
The team performed well against a pathetic Bournemouth sqaud , let’s hope this give the team encouragement to go on to do well against Chelsea and the rest of the top 6

  2. Many of you will disagree with me, but I think Arsene did really well to bench Alexis. He will have to perform to get that big contract at the end of this season. And to perform he needs minutes. Benching will make him feel that he needs to correct his attitude.

Wenger, hopefully, has learnt that you never bench Kolasinach and Lacazette when they are available.

Despite the performance and result yesterday, our players still misplace simple passes, loose tackles that they were favorites to win and present near 0 threat with those slow loopy corner kicks.

Also not to forget, Welback nearly missed the first goal. Luckily it went in but another day could be another story.

    1. I agree, Wenger was right on benching Sanchez. He has to work hard to retain his place and this should apply to the other players as well, including Ozil, Xhaka, Giroud, Koscielny, Cech, Bellerin and Ramsey.

Regarding the performance, the players still misplace simple passes because they still cannot dictate the tempo well. Medium and quick tempo often cause misplaced passes.

Manchester City and Barcelona matches yesterday showed how Arsenal should control the tempo. The players were enforced to build the attack from the back.

Arsenal players should not rush when possessing the ball and work harder to retrieve the ball. They need to be very composed when facing teams like Chelsea in the opponent’s stadium.

  3. Oh and forgot to mention – When Arsenal score 2 or 3 they go into that lazy mode. They make no serious attempt to score as many as they can. I can assure you, with yesterday’s performance United or Chelsea would have scored at least 5 if not more.

    1. Had it not been for 2 good saves from Bergovic and some good defending we would have scored 5 . Both Lacazett , Giroud and Sanchez had excellent chances to extend our lead

  4. It only in OX record…
His first match at Arsenal was 8-2 against Man U while his last one happened to be 0-4 against Liverpool. Now his first for Liverpool was 5-0… Only God knows his last game for Liverpool,, Call him Chambergoal,,,

  5. Sanchez, sanchez, Sanchez. How many articles about this man.

Yes he is here because he didn’t get the move away he wanted and still wants. Come January he will go bye bye so please get used to not talking about him.

    It’s so repetitive

Protest will come at Bournemouth game.

  6. Its hard to get excited about yesterday’s game as we’ve all been here before and next prem game up could end in disaster again. I agree with leaving Sanchez on the bench and easing him back in, let’s see how much he wants it before becoming ever reliable on him. Lacas goal was good sandwiched inbtween a typical 3 part of the anatomy shot and not so typical clean strike from Welbeck.
