Wenger admits Arsenal have gone downhill, but he can live with that!

Arsenal only just missed out on the Top Four last season by one point after finishing very strongly and winning 8 of their last ten matches, and then capping it off when they beat the Champions Chelsea in the FA Cup Final.

This season has no chance of emulating that one as were unceremoniously dumped out of the FA cup at the first hurdle by Nottingham Forest, who are struggling to keep out of the relegation zone in the Championship, and if we were even going to match last season’s total of 75 points we would have to win every single one of our last ten games! The chances of that are looking very slim indeed as we have only won TWO of our previous ten matches before we face Brighton….

So Wenger, I guess, had no chance of denying that we have gone downhill in this campaign. “This season is worse than last season because last season we won the cup and we made 75 points,” he said.

“I don’t deny that, but we’ll analyse that at the end of the season. Don’t worry, I can live with reality. At the moment, we lost a cup final and we lost a big championship game.”

Oh goody we will analuse that at the end of the season? How about we analyse it now? Or at least in four days time when we get embarrassed by AC Milan in Italy. We will then know for sure that there is no chance of salvaging anything at all from this season. Wenger has apparently told the players to expect changes if we fail to make the Champions League, so can we start ‘analysing’ this sooner rather than later?

  1. He’s defo staying another year .
No way he walks away .

    Not a prayer

It’s fine I’ve accepted it. Anyway anyone know a bridge near me with a 50 ft or more drop ?

    1. At this point I don’t care anymore, let them do what they want. I’ve never been this disappointed in the club. I don’t care these days if I miss a match.

    2. Yup, definitely. I also can live with bashings and critics too if I get eight million per year

But it means he is poorer than Ozil, coz Ozil gets 350,000 * 48 months per year = 16,800,000 (double Wenger’s salary)

When he told his players about changes, I think it is about replacing more players and he will stay put

  2. You know just one more season of this and we will be rid of him.

Just one more season, Arsenal won’t sack Wenger as they pride themselves on being different to other clubs and like stability.

But hey maybe he decides to go at the end of the season.

Take xhaka, Kos, Bellerin and Mustafi with him.

    1. Koscielny is old, so he can go. Xhaka and Mustafi are erratic, so they should be replaced

But Bellerin still has tremendous potential to become the next Dani Alves/ Cafu

  3. 75 points seem the be the object for Wenger. No matter if that means fifth or sixth. He will roll back years to the season when some team won the title with 75 points and think “75 points is as good as winning the title”. Just bugger off already.

    RIP Davide Astori

    1. Lowest number of points achieved by the EPL Champion’s is 75 by Manchester United during the 1996/97 season

  4. So we need in the summer.

    GK
    LCB
    RCB
    RB
    CDM
    Manager

    Minimum requirements: +- 150 million

Add a winger and we need +- 180 to 200 million

  5. Why is it Wengers decision if he stays or go’s.Surely not even THIS owner and THIS Chairman and THIS Board can continue to ignore where Wenger has taken us to.
Kroenke has a reputation of sacking all his top level managers and coaching staff in his US Sports Franchises. Why should it be different here?Wenger is a (very well paid) member of staff. He is answerable for his performance and that of his team. There should be no F**King about with this decision.

  6. He will say and do anything to keep his job. He has more interest in what he thinks is his own good, than in what is best for the club.
What a pity. His legacy will be even more tarnished the longer he stays. But what is worse, the players and the club will sink even further as long as he is here.

  7. It has been reported that Lord Harris of Peckham offered his resignation over the manager at the last board meeting. The offer was not accepted.
