Wenger doesn’t doubt Ozil’s commitment to Arsenal, but do the fans?

Mesut Ozil’s contract saga at Arsenal doesn’t get as many column inches as Alexis Sanchez, but there has still been some speculation linking him with a Bosman move to Manchester United next summer, as well as various other clubs. But Arsene Wenger has no doubt that Ozil will continue to give 100% for Arsenal as long as he stays at the club. Wenger said: We have to deal with all kinds of speculation when the players are at the end of their contracts.’

‘On the other hand, to be professional is to give 100 per cent as long as you are somewhere. For the rest, we came out many times and said that’s the situation.’

‘It [the media] can come out tomorrow and say that he (Ozil) extends his contract here. It will be exactly the same, it will not change anything. When you play the next game, commit 100 per cent.’

‘I believe that at the moment I just focus on what is the best possible team for the next game and have no pre-conceived ideas if the guy will be 100 per cent committed or not.’

‘That would be unfair on my side, because you don’t have any opinion about that. When a player plays for Arsenal Football Club, his commitment cannot be linked with the length of his contract, it has just to be linked with the responsibility and the ambition he has to win the football game.’

Many fans have questioned whether Ozil and Alexis really are giving everything for the shirt any more, with both of them scoring much less than they did at this point last season, which points to the fans being correct, but do you seriously believe the German midfielder is not trying his hardest?

a flop for arsenal and always will be

  1. Im sick to death hearing about these two ‘contract rebels’ they both don’t care both want out which is so clear by their performances this season… would be nice to ship em both out in January but no one would be that foolish

  2. heres a question
harry winks harry kane dele ali
came up under arsene…what would have happened ?

pocettino is getting alot of press, wonder if hes better than arsene …..

    1. No, you don’t wonder, You know full well, as we all do, that Poch is miles ahead of Wenger, in every managerial aspect.

  3. The Admins post tells us many of us are questioning whether or not Sanchez and Ozil are giving everything for the shirt any more. Well, IF and I say IF any fans fool themselves that these two wantaways have been trying, for some time now, they are fooling themselves. Patently, both are picking up wages under false pretences, encouraged to do so and unquestioned by Wenger. Wenger is either , after 21 years managing Prem players, the most naive manager in football OR he is spouting his usual inane nonsense about players still under contract always giving their ALL. This is PRECISELY what our players, many of them here for years, (eh Walcott?) do NOT DO. This insulting nonsense regularly spouted by Wenger is on the border of insanity, though of course he does not himself believe his own lies. Now, THAT WOULD BE INSANITY! The truth is that so many young fans, who don’t remember before Wenger managed, have never EVER known what it is to have a whole team fighting hard for the shirt and wouldn’t have a clue what real committment even looks like. Adams, Bould, Keown, Viera, Gilberto, etc are just names from the past to these young fans.

  4. They think just turning up for a match is enough. Look at how they played in their first season to how they play now…..totally different!

  5. Of course Ozil and Sanchez are not committed to Arsenal. They have their mind on their next club and their new larger salary. This could be as soon as two months. More pointless spin from our failing leader.
