Wenger just waiting to announce his new Arsenal contract?

Arsene Wenger’s contract as manager of Arsenal is set to run out this summer as he completes his 20th year at the helm. As usual, at this time of the season, Arsenal have fallen out of the title race and there are certain Gooner factions calling for Wenger to call it a day and leave the reins for a younger more progressive coach to come in and take over.

But, according to the Gunners legend, Martin Keown, Le Prof is simply waiting for the right time to announce his extension. “The way that they are sort of losing their way now, the question comes again – does Arsene Wenger remain in the seat? Do they look to make a change?” Keown said on Radio 5 Live. “I just feel the way the club is so pragmatic in its decision making, I don’t see Arsene leaving.

“Whether he should or shouldn’t, I don’t think it will happen. He will decide when he leaves the club. I do feel that is the situation and I do feel he has earned the right, in the same way that Sir Alex Ferguson did at Manchester United, to choose when he goes.

“I feel deep down he has already made his mind up to stay. It is just the timing of that announcement. Results like against Chelsea make that difficult for him to do. He doesn’t make spur of the moment decisions. He has to make the best decision for Arsenal and not just for himself.”

So when is he likely to make the announcement? Is he going to wait until we win 5 games in a row to snatch fourth place at the death? Or when we beat Sutton to take us closer to our 3rd FA Cup in the last 4 years…..

Or will he leave it until the last day of the season….

  1. Dont announce it bro, i would’ve given a fvvvvck but i left all my fvvvvcks at home so Mr Wenger can go..we dont need you

    1. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the least you could do is show some respect to the guy who is still our manager.

      1. Really?? I believe respect should be reciprocated, we’ve shown our respect for years, i personally without doubt ..but has he shown us respect too?? Next AKB please..anyone??

  2. I’m afraid I wont be taking out a sliver membership next season if he does sign this new contract extension. We can’t keep doing the same thing year after year….

If the clubs ambitions are just a top 4 finish every season. Which is what
Wenger has managed to achieve all these years. Not an easy thing to do, I know!!

But there comes a time where us fans want to see more being done to win major trophies.

That slap head Gazidis said we would be competing from 2014 onwards. I’m yet to see this happen….

  3. No matter what happens, once Wenger does step down the new manager is going to have a tough job to do but will the club try to find a long term solution as has been the tradition over the years or will they start to take a more ruthless approach and sack managers who do not get the results.

    1. I think any manager would love to replace Wenger: Great club, relative job security & a squad of very good players.

  4. Wenger signed an extension a long time ago. I just don’t see anyone turning down 8 sweet millies a year to “give change a chance”. Him, Gazidis and the rest of the money making bunch will continue clinging on to their cash cow untill the very day they drop dead of old age or the fans force them out. Time and again they have referred to the club as their “business model”. To the fans Arsenal is life but to the management..the club is just like a restaurant.
