Wenger positive despite poor Arsenal preparations for Hull

I guess you could see this last week as a positive one for Arsenal. The results have certainly been respectable, with a win over Southampton in the Premier League followed by a potentially vital draw away to Paris Saint-Germain in Europe thanks to a late strike from Alexis Sanchez and some inspired keeping from David Ospina.

On the whole, though, a lot of Arsenal fans have been left unimpressed by the manner of the performances and will be hoping for a much more fluent, slick and sharp Arsenal when Arsene Wenger sends his side out to face Hull City at the KC stadium today.

But after two tough games already this week, the manager’s preparations were further disrupted yesterday when traffic and the weather saw Wenger and the players help up and late for training. Despite all this the Frenchman was sounding very positive in a match preview on the Arsenal website.

He said, “Yes [it disrupted our preparations], like it disrupted your press conference as well! We have to deal with that, it is nothing dramatic. The players were late but they weren’t fined. It is the M25 that will be fined!

“Overall it’s been a positive week. We have shown the right attitude and spirit, and I know we have room for improvement in certain areas of the game that we will work on. But overall it is positive, the results are positive.

“We take our games seriously, we are focused on doing well and that is what we want to do again on Saturday.

“We have a short recovery but everyone looks to have recovered well and we go into the game with the desire to win it again.”

The boss was also full of praise for the job Hull’s new manager Mike Phelan is doing and he clearly wants his players to not take this one for granted. He spoke as well of Alexis Sanchez and his feeling that the Chilean is starting to reach his physical peak again and that will certainly help us get the win if true.

Do you think Arsenal will give Wenger even more reasons to be positive today?
