Wenger – Top Quality Arsenal are ready to fight for the title

Arsenal are still fighting to stay in the race for the Premiership title after being eliminated from both the FA Cup and the Champions League in one cruel week, but Arsene Wenger firmly believes that this top quality Arsenal team is now fully primed and ready to aim for the top spot by the end of the season.

“We have only one target now,” he said. “We have come through difficult periods and the team who finishes top is the team who can continue to perform and get results even when the period is a bit more difficult.

“This team has a good mentality. I’ve had many teams in my life and this team is top quality. Arsenal have gone through a bad period but, when you play like that [against Watford], that shows that mentally they are pure.

“You have to find a team who clicks at the right moment. You have a whole lot of different reasons [for it happening], because your injured players come back like Welbeck and because of the emergence of players like Iwobi.”

It is strange that Wenger always seems to find his perfect line up in the closing stages of the season, and we all remember that the Gunners won 8 of their last 9 games last season to leaprog Tottenham into Third Place, and obviously Wenger feels that the side is perfectly capable of having another run like that now, but the difference is that we are actually within striking distance of the title in this campaign. The only way to put pressure on the teams above us is to keep winning every single game….

Onwards and Upwards!
