Which Arsenal players to rest for Sunderland in FA cup?

Arsenal fans already know that our FA cup opponents on Saturday are likely to field a weakened side, after the Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce had a right old moan about his fixture schedule. He might be trying to pull a fast one but I very much doubt it with their Premier League survival under threat and being the club’s clear priority.

So that makes up in some way for Arsenal having the bad luck to get a Premier League team while the likes of Liverpool, Man United and Chelsea get Exeter, Sheffield United and Scunthorpe. Anyway, the situation for Sunderland means that Arsene Wenger will feel able to do a fair bit of squad rotation while still retaining a good chance of getting through.

But how many and which changes do you think the Arsenal boss should make? Bearing in mind that because of the injury list a lot of the Arsenal first team have had very little rest and we have just had that busy festive schedule I think it is important for some key players to be rested until the Liverpool game next week, so assuming that Alexis Sanchez is fit and available, this would be my starting XI.

Ospina
Debuchy, Gabriel, Koscielny, Gibbs
Flamini, Arteta
Campbell, Alexis, Chamberlain
Walcott

What do you think Gooners and how would you line Arsenal up for the cup?

  1. Crap why would you rest our keeper that makes no sence. Not like he is running around for 90 min. Only players I would rest is BFG ozil and OG

  2. wow .
Its very obvious that isnt the team to start
    on saturday.

    I would go with
    ospina
    bellerin gabriel mertesacker gibbs
    chambers flamini
    sanchez ramsey campbell
    giroud.

    1. Hahaha

The steal was Wenger refusing to pay the asking price after having him scouted for years whilst at Anderlecht and while wenger was busy bulking at 9 million, Chelsea jumped in and paid double just to make sure they got him lol
Mourinho dented Lukaku’s moral abit but hey, who’s laughing now!

  3. ————- Cech
    Bellerin – Gabriel – BFG – Gibbs
    ——– Chambers – Ramsey
    ——— OX – Özil – Campbell
    ———– Giroud

Sub Özil, Giroud and possibly Bellerin off when it’s safe. Bring on Adelaide, Sanchez and Debuchy. Remember, we are playing a PL side!

  4. ———————— Ospina
    Chambers, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Gibbs
    ————— Flamini, Arteta (??)
    Campbell ——- OX ——– Adelaide
    ———————- Iwobi

    Probably line up?
with maybe Giroud, Walcott, Ramsey and Sanchez on the bench, Along with a few more youngsters.

A few players have been given the weekend off!

  5. i am srry this is a bit out of topic but i think that lukaku will be an arsenal players in the next season.

  6. If you think that Cech, Bellerin, monreal, Ozil, Walcott and Giroud will be starting then You Guys are going to be in for a shock when you see our official line up against Sunderland
    ???

Ospina, Adelaide, Chambers, Gibbs, Campbell and Gabriel Are definitely starters!
The bad news is so could Arteta lol

    1. I dont mind this starting line up bro. Gunnersaurus should be also given a chance to shine. he is a machine.

  7. I don’t really trust Ospina but I figure he’ll start

also gametime for Chambers, Gabriel, Gibbs, Ox, Iwobi and perhaps JEFF!

just praying this won’t be a sheffield wednesday performance again with that much rotation

  8. My predicted lineup:
    Gk: Ospina,
    DF: Debuchy,Mert, Gabriel,Gibbs
MF: Arteta(if not fit then elneny or Flamini), Chambers, Adelaide.
ATT: Chambo, Walcott, Iwobi (not sure if Walcott will play but who else could we play?)
Sanchez and Giroud off the bench or elneny of he is signed and we are in a good position. There’s enough quality and experience in that team to beat Sunderland, who have worried other than a cup game.
