Which of the Arsenal outcasts will Wenger finally use?

The Players Arsenal Seem to have Forgotten About this Season! by AT

It is not very hard to see right now that Arsenal’s defence is being stretched to the limit, even more so now that Mathieu Debuchy is set to miss the next three months of the campaign as a result of the ankle injury he suffered against Manchester City at the Emirates.

But with that being said, that is far from the case when it comes to the offensive side of things. Looking into this Arsenal squad, there are three offensive players who are truly deserving of first-team opportunities.

The first player I’d like to point out is Lukas Podolski. The German is unarguably the best finisher in this Arsenal side and his ruthlessness in front of goal is really missing in the team. While I am in no way suggesting that he should be starting ahead of Welbeck, I really think he is entitled to his fair share of opportunities. I firmly believe that Arsene Wenger is wasting the talents of a world-class finisher.

Then, there is young Joel Campbell. Anyone who watched the World Cup will know what this Costa Rican sensation is capable of. Personally, I think that there is so much dynamism that he can bring to this Gunners side and I’d really like to see him get more opportunities so he gets the opportunity to do for Arsenal what he so efficiently did for his nation at the World Cup.

And finally, there’s Tomas Rosicky. While the Czech veteran is past his prime, there’s still a hell of a lot he can contribute to the team should he get the opportunities. Despite being 33, Tomas still has that urgency in his game, the quick change of pace and he is more than capable of delivering a killer ball, not to mention the passion that oozes out of him when he puts on an Arsenal shirt.

With that being said, I really hope to see all these players start at the Emirates in the League Cup tie against Southampton, it’s about time that they got their opportunity.

  1. Good article. I’d add that I wanna see my boy ABOUUU and I’d like to see how Hayden does against a premier league team since he will now be on 1st team cause debuchy’s injury.

  2. Put Ox, Podolski, Rosicky, Sanogo and Campbell on the team.

    Ospina
    Bellerin..Chambers..Mertsacker..Gibbs
    Wilshere…Flamini
    Oxlade….Rosicky….Campbell
    Sanogo

      1. Only Wenger knows why he bought dat dude, considering is injury record. In fact, Arsene knows best, so much that he even signed an injured Kim Kadashan

  3. I think the problem with Joel,s inclusion in the starting X1 is, Wenger finds it difficult to place him. IS he a wide man, if so, does he replace Sanchez, or, do we drop Ozil/Santi. DO agree we need to gave him some game time.
Tomas. Great player, but, question as to IF he is better than Mezut, Rambo, Santi, Jack. Again, agree, he DOES deserve some game time.
Unfortunately regarding Lukas, yes, he has a power left foot, and yes, when he has had a decent run, he has provided assists from the left, but, we NEED our wide men to track back. Theo does it, AOC does it, Alexis does it, Gnabry does it, Joel WOULD do it, and, ALL those do a good job. Lukas is NOT a player comfortable doing that. Neither is Mezut of course, and that is why most of us think playing him out wide, when we have more natural wide men is a waste of his talent.

        1. this team can beat southampton:
          ospina
          bellerin mert chambers monreal
          diaby
          campbell roziscky podolski
          striker
[wouldve preferred sanogo for striker but we may have to waste sanchez or welbeck on this capital cup since sanogo is injured]

  4. We really do have a nice blend of depth and youth for this game. From the “unused vets” I’d like to see Diaby, Mozart (c) and Podolski. And the young guns I’m most keen on seeing are Bellerin, Hayden, Campbell and Akpom. Fill it out with Ospina, Mertesacker, Monreal, Flamini and my ticket/late night home will be well worth it.

    1. Now now Andrew 🙂
      Your description of the Gaffer
      lately have often been quite
      “descriptive ” 🙂
      2-0 is it mate ?

  5. Yes your right we are very thin
in the back line but further
forward we have too many 🙂
    This with Giroud Walcott Sanogo
and Gnabry to return and Ryo on loan.
May be later we could use Giroud and Sanogo
as defenders. They have the height and
are expert at preventing the ball going into the goal 🙂
To me it is also D. Day. Diaby day. He must play
or are we being taken for a ride about his “recovery”.
Please more than 7 minutes 🙁
    Ospina Bellerin Chambers Hayden Gibbs
    Flamini Wilshere
    Chamberlain Rosicky Podolski
    Akpom/Campbell.
Subs. Martinez Coquelin Diaby Mertesacker Campbell/Akpom Zelalem Olsson.

  6. Off topic and sorry if its been said but what do people think of kompanys comments about the title being a 3 way scrap. Between city chels and us

“I’ve seen good things from Chelsea. But I’ve seen better things from arsenal”.

    Implying we’re the greater threat

    I loved reading it

    1. @Tony
He is right if you take away Southampton and Villa, who will not be there at the end of the season you have got your top three.

          1. @Andrew AFC
I agree about Leicester. They do look the business. A lot of fight in them. Hope they can go the distance though. Would really like Everton up there also…
Whats good with you and yours Andrew?

            1. @NY_gUNNER
Everything is great thanks. I also want Leicester to do well because they are only 40 miles from me, which is a nice away game to go to.

            2. @ NY

I got mad respect for Leicester they deserve to stay in the prem after the start they’ve had. There manager looks legit too it seems at this rate he’ll go to a bigger club granted there form dowsnt drop significantly

              1. @Goonsquad8
Real Talk. Seeing the way they came out the blocks at Chelsea really impressed me. Then the way they took it to us and Man U made me a fan…LOL

                1. Don’t forget about everton too. And what’s crazy is that they say the promoted teams need to buy players that played in the prem and it seems Leicester didn’t buy really any and there still performing

    2. Kompany probably made those comments because Chelsea don’t play football in big games, or most games really. Chelsea play to get the result, that’s it. Arsenal actually played football against Man City, I guess it’s more of a respect thing from Kompany. Chelsea at this point are the bigger threat to City, but we aren’t far away and can strengthen in January. The pundits will of course say it’s a two-horse race, a one-horse race really given their love affair with Mourinho, but the other teams aren’t writing Arsenal off just yet, nor should they.

      1. Most of the people who show respect are just about to play us its rare for a player to praise us a week after the match or count us as a favourite

    3. Everyone praises Arsenal anyway. Klopp does it all the time when he comes for his yearly visit to the Emirates. Guardiola too pays his respect. Mourinho called us a “big horse” last season (although it didn’t stop him from ruining Wenger’s Big Day). I would say, you shouldn’t read too much into it. Other than the Villa game, when has Arsenal actually played well this season?

  7. Ospina
    Bellerin Chambers Hayden Gibbs
    Flamini Wilshere
    Chamberlain Sanchez Podolski
Campbell/Welbeck to come on if needed

  8. ————–Ospina
    Bellerin, Hayden, Ajayi, Gibbs
    ——-Coquelin, Diaby
    Rosicky, Zelalem, Campbell
    ——–Akpom

Great blend of young and old.

Bench – OX, Wilshere, Chambers, Sczcney, Podolski, Mertesacker

  9. Please play hayden in fact any half decent defender in place of mert, sorry but the guys a statue! I also hope we see rosicky, campbell and poldi. Shame gnabry is still injured. Hope to see diaby if he’s not broken.

  10. Szczesny
    Chambers…Koscielny…Mertsacker…Gibbs
    Ramsey…Wilshere
    Sanchez….Ozil….Cazorla
    Welbeck

  11. For the first time in a very long time we have real options and a bit of strength in depth in the front six and we now see this emotive thread referring to squad players as “outcasts”. I’m afraid you cannot have it both ways on this one. Granted we all have our favourites we want to see play but seems a bit churlish to be moaning 5 games in to the PL season. These players, if fit and impressing in training, are nailed on guaranteed to get their chances in the next 50+ games.

  12. Jeez guys this game is really only about 1 person – ABOU DABY!!!!

After 556 days, he will start a match for us! Shad Forsythe has had a lot of time with him and he didn’t even look out of breath after 90 mins in the U21’s v Villa.

This is massive for us….we get a Diaby fit and strong again – this is what AW was hinting at when he said he was looking for a prodigious talent like Viera or Petit…he’s going to unveil the all new Shad-modifiled Diaby at home! yeah baby! the fans are gonna go sick!!! bring the house down!
