Why another Arsenal FA cup trophy may trigger Wenger exit

Now that Arsenal have booked a place in the FA cup final once again, with the showpiece match against Antonio Conte and his Chelsea team set to take part after the final Premier League games of the season have all been played, there is a good chance that us Gooners will have to wait for another month or so to find out whether Arsene Wenger is going to be the Arsenal manager again next season.

There have been a lot of theories put around about what may play part in the Frenchman’s decision and even whether it is completely in his own hands anymore or if the Arsenal board might play the major role. Wenger himself has said that he has made his decision and we will find out soon, but he also suggested it would be very soon about a month ago and we are no closer to knowing, so I think there is still an element of doubt.

Everything could hinge on what happens between now and the end of the EPL season or even until the final whistle of the FA cup final is blown and I have a feeling that another FA cup trophy for the club and our boss to celebrate could trigger the departure of Arsene Wenger, especially if it is preceded by the failure of the Gunners to finish in the top four.

That would give the prof the chance to go out on a high after the league disappointment highlighted the idea that the club needs a shake-up. Do you think that cup success could spell the end for our long serving but under fire manager?

  1. & i pray & hope that it does trigger his exit

    .
Cuz i’m tired of being taken back and forth…..

  2. Wenger is has no shame. He is clinging onto his job for dear life. There are no principles in his world. Let’s not forget this is the man that can recite any excuse under the sun but none of those excuses ever refer to performances on the pitch because he is too busy making love to his business diploma certificate.

  3. United and Chelsea competing for Griezmann. Arsenal competing with nobody for Kolasinac. Just shows the different mentality between ambitious clubs and stagnant ones. And we need a striker more than both those teams.

    1. I would say such is life but promises were made we wpuld compete with the the Barcelonas an bayern for the best an that just isn’t the case

Griezmann should have been ours in vela deal
      He won’t

Mourinho will build an empire an destroy it twice over with Chelsea an then build same with man u.

An with us nothing has changed in all that time Mental

      1. Exactly. Gazidis was the one saying we would compete for players like this and that hasn’t happened since Ozil. Even Alexis was at a cut price deal thanks to Suarez, a player we lost out on. Hard to see us winning titles if we refuse to compete. It doesn’t all come down to money but there is not a single player in our curent squad or youth squad that is good enough to start. Sanchez is capable but it would make way more sense to get another striker that is on his level that he can play with. Because only consistent goal scorer we have right now is Alexis

  4. If Arsene is going to leave then why is he allegedly talking about possible targets for next season surely a new manager will want to make those decisions. But it is looking very likely that he will be staying so we’er in for another 2 years of misery and failure.

    1. That sounds about right ??
But To put it more precisely, here’s how the script is looking in present time.
Wenger wants to stay, REAL BAD! But things are not as rosie as they were at the end of last season, when he was originally offered the 2 year extension from the Board.
Apparently the Board are now split in regards to Wenger’s contract extension and Gazidis wants to stick around for the change of guard (managers position). Wenger was reported to be angry with Gazidis and the Board because they didn’t back him during the time when they made their statement regarding the protesters.

The truth is… Even Wenger isn’t sure if that contract extension is still available to him and this is the first time in his Arsenal career that he is fearing for his job. You only have to look at his recent actions to see just how desperate he really is. His not too bothered with the fans but he is definitely trying hard to convince the Board that he can still do it.

I don’t know why people think that he will walk if he wins the FA cup, when it’s the complete opposite, in my opinion. Wenger will more likely be sent packing if he fails to win the FA cup and finish out of the top four.
At the end of the day It’s in the Boards hands and not Wenger’s, which explains why the delusional one is trying hard as hell to change lol.?

  5. Look, first of all Wenger is not going to leave under any circumstances IMO.

Had we been a normal club managed (board included) and owned by football people we would not even be having this discussion. As it stands, IMO for Wenger nd the club it would be the most elegant ending to an imploded career if Wenger wins the FA cup and moves on to PSG or anywhere else.

The chance of Wenger leaving is tiny, the chance of us winning the FA cup is small, the chance of both happening is negligible IMO.

(I wish a graceful departure for Wenger but a departure under all conditions none the less)

  6. That man’s going no where even if he win the PL tittle. 20 years more at arsenal he will never win it again.

  7. Good luck to both sides in the final.
I’m with you guys as well, Wenger needs to go irrespective of the FA Cup result. The EPL needs Arsenal strong again. IMHO Wenger lost his desire to win and compete with the big boys long ago. His been a great servant to your club.
Perhaps he can stay in some capacity, grooming the youth or something. But whatever his role is, he must stay away from first team matters.

What Arsenal need is a manager from the same cloth as Mourinho/Conte, a ruthless manager who’d be willing to bench fancy players if they don’t work hard enough. Diego Simeone would be an ideal candidate than these fancy managers who blabber about attacking football and win nothing in the end. A club of Arsenal stature needs to winning and/or competing for trophies, doesn’t have to be pretty football. You guys need to remember what it’s like winning or challenging for trophies again. I have massive respect for your club, the levels they’re currently performing at is totally unacceptable for such a huge club. Good luck in yourfuture endeavours.

    1. @ Mr Chelsea
Well said and FairPlay to you mate … Oh & You must be really forking bored lol?

  8. Ot I’d love to try and swap Radja Nangolan of Roma for Ramsey 🙂
    Give them schezny free? Lol

  9. Also what is it with salad they didn’t fancy him where as he looks awesome for Roma, and cuadrado doing well for Juve.
High standards I guess as hazard, William and Pedro aren’t too shabby!!

  10. What I would like to know is in wengers post match interview after the Wembley game he said “yes some things have happened and one day I’ll talk about it”.
I’d love to know what went on in our camp.
I feel a bust up did happen involving sanchez and another. I feel that another to be Ramsey or giroud just a hunch. Whatever it was was big and very unarsenal like enough to shake the players. Then the bayern defeats and we never really recovered mentally.
Credit for the performance yesterday I really didn’t see it coming and there was some performances and grit that took me really by surprise, Gabriel and Xhaka most notably.

    1. Forget the players bust up, it’s Wenger’s bust up with Gazidis & Co that sparked Wenger into frantic desperation.
The Board are now Split in giving Wenger the boot and the old boy is fighting for his Arsenal life… Hence the changes we’ve seen Wenger rapidly making. I reckon If Wenger pulls in the same Bacon ??? before the season ends then the Yank called Stan will give him the nod of approval to continue. ?

  11. Win or lose the final Wenger will stay. Forgetting the huge wages he will not walk away from, if we win his ego will believe that he is still the master tactician. If we lose he will just state that he cannot leave with the job half done and next season will finally be the break through that we have all been waiting for and we must not forget the 200 million war chest he is going to use to get in the world class players that we want.
