Why are Arsenal going for another centre midfield transfer?

Arsenal fans may start to feel that the transfer action at the club is something akin to the London buses that go past the ground, as in you wait for ages and then three come along at the same time. That is if the recent Arsenal transfer rumour about the Roma and Argentina international star Leandro Paredes turns out to be true.

The Sun is reporting that Wenger is considering a transfer bid for the talented 22-year old after his impressive performances in Serie A on loan at Empoli last season and on his return to his parent club this year.

What I am struggling to understand about this bit of transfer gossip though, stems from the phrase in the report that says the Frenchman is looking to bolster his midfield and add some youth to the Arsenal squad. Why on earth does he need to do that when we have young Francis Coquelin, young Granit Xhaka and the fairly young Mohamed Elneny already fighting for the role of dep lying midfielder where Paredes would play?

Does our manager really think he needs more options there or could it be that he is just not happy with the quality rather than the quantity of the central midfielders already playing for the Gunners?

  1. we don’t need another CM… but if we must get another CM, it has to be Verratti not some average Roma player

  2. I think Wenger wants a carzola like replacement seeing as all the aforementioned are of a difference cut .according to rumors, elnerny might also be moving on soon as playing time is hard to come by .don’t really know what this new cm is like though, but I have always felt we will need a carzola replacement
