Why Arsenal needs to be ruthless and Aggressive in the Summer.

The Changes that Arsenal football Club Must make in the Summer. BY Galen Sona

So much money has been spent in the premier league in the last few years. Every club is spending, but the quality of football has not increased. Phil Neville was right after all. Can any of the premier league teams match the quality of PSG and Monaco in France, Bayern in Germany, Real Madrid , Barcelona Atletetico de Madrid in Spain, or Juventus in Italy.

We are been conned by the inflated European markets, selling low quality products to rich Britain. Expensive players who can’t do the basics and sometime its embarrassing to watch. Lets talk about Arsenal for example. We spent about £85 Million last summer but we did not improve the team in any way or form. I can even argue that the players that we bought were not better than the players that we have.

Ian Wright even said he doesn’t think Mustafi is better than Rob Holding for example. Has Xhaka made our midfield better? Elneny £5million and Xhaka £35 million, Is there really a massive difference in quality between this players? Mr Wenger was right after all. There’s money in the market but the quality in the market doesn’t reflect the spending the clubs are making.

As for this summer , we either go out for the best players in this positions or we buy no body at all. There’s absolutely no need in us Spending million on Players just for the sake of it or to please the fans. If the manager and coaching staff really believes that that the player would not improve us then don’t buy him.

Finally I spoke about us been ruthless, we should be capable of smelling blood. When we have a deal we must be ruthless, think about not getting Xabi alonso because of Denilson future, Not paying more for Suarez, Not paying more for higuain, Not bringing back Cesc fabregers because of Ozil. Top clubs buy players that would improve the squad. We need to keep this emotions far away. lets put Arsenal football club first.

Players To Sell.

Mesult Ozil, it is not just his body language or what the statistics are saying. He is lazy and is clearly not worth £250, 000 a week , not to talk of £300,000. For a few nice touches and a decent pass? £35 million, sell him take the money and run.

Jack Wilshere, Loads of injuries and would only get worse. He can’t be a new signing every year. We know how this story ends. £20 million take the money and run.

Elneny. Not good enough. £10 million seems fair.

Coquelin. Great heart but clearly not good enough for Arsenal. £15 million take it and run.

Ospina. Sell him for £10 Million to anyone. Good keeper but we have loads of them.

Giroud Sell him to Marseille or any Premier league club for £20 million . teams are desperate for Strikers. The fight against relegation is real. palace paid £30 million for benteke.

Gabrielle Sell him while we still Can. he has a mistake in him and the inability to say good morning after 3 years in England is insanity. We have to teach Portuguese to the entire team. £15 million is good money for him.

Joel campbell. Just sell him, whats the points of this loans, he doesn’t deserve this. £10 million

Lucas Perez. Will get 15 million for him easily. Strikers cost money and teams are desperate to stay in the league. he deserves to play and at his age we should sell him so he plays.

Gibbs. Wenger said he is not leaving but for me he should. £10 million is a good fee.

Cazorla. he is not getting any younger. this is the premier league. Bastian Schweinsteiger was a worlclass midfielder but with his injuries he couldn’t cope in England. Cazorla got broken down 2 years in a row. Am not sure if next season would be any different. We can’t build a team around and injured player. £10 million back to spain sounds good to me. Not to a premier league club. We need to forget about cazorla and Wilshere, we can’t have the new signing story season after season. May be we are losing our souls. But the big clubs all do this. They move injured players. We kept diaby for about 5 seasons with 1 leg.

Debuchy. Sell him for £5 million.

Carl Jekinson. Sell him for £5 million

Per . release him for free.

If we could get 100 to 150 million from this guys, that would be great.

Players TO BUY

Lukaku pay £75 million for him. he is better than what we have. No discussions. first touch could be improved but he is 24 years old. loads of time to improve. Good pace and finishing.

Radja Naingolan. This guy is no nonsense. he has work rate and he can break legs too. I rather have him in my team. £35 million will do just fine.

Steven Nzonzi. he has everything. he is tall , good passer of the ball physically strong and teams won’t bully us anymore and defending set pieces too would come in handy. £25 million. yues he use to play for stoke city but if you have any football brain u would know he is quality.

Douglas Costa. Unhappy at Bayern and it would only get worse with rumours of Julian Brandt signing as another winger , then kingsly Coman as well. Some body would have to make way. Ribery and Rubben are getting better with age.

Van Dijk I don’t care about the media hype. I have watched him and he is 1.93 m and he is good on the ball. Koscielny and Mustafi are great on the ball but they are very poor in the air. we need a more imposing Cb. This is the premier league. £50 million would do just fine.

Kolasanic. free transfer sounds good to me.

Chambers. recall from loan. has been part of one of the best defensive partnership in the league and has clearly leaned enough. would rather have him than Gabriel.

Szcsney: recall from loan, after the performances in Italy, especially this season, I have been very impressed.

My calculation shows we may spend in the upwards of 200 million. But if we sell this guys then its all good cause net spending could be about 80 million. It is not realistic for a club like arsenal to be this ruthless. people would say this is not football manager. But this club is carrying so many passengers and we have been doing this for years. ti,e to start from scratch.

  1. I know Wenger has been criticised this season, but there is no better manager than Wenger. He has got the whole club right. It is profitable, growing, cultured & consistent. This club is the only club in the world that can be sure of success for the next 10 years. Further than that is a matter of good appointment & consistent quality. Wenger has set the club on this path. It is easier to destroy than to create. Buying success is not so difficult. Maintaining quality without continuous investment needs external wealth funding the club. When the money was not there AW built a wonderful young team but saw it decimated by injury and vultures. It took some tough seasons and changes to start over but prudence allowed us to build slowly and know the club is very strong again. How is that possible if Wenger is so flawed? Wenger explains his position most eloquently. Wenger believes his approach to squad building requires greater skill than buying established players, but is not concerned that his rivals in the Barclays Premier League will try to muscle in on his territory. The fact that man utd, Chelsea and later man city were spending hundreds of millions on world class players and arsenal were relying on a bunch of kids and selling off the better players they had then. After years of deliberately refusing to spend money available to him, he suddenly decided to spend £90 million this summer. That really makes sense because other’s strengthening too.
Football is all about money. If you haven’t worked that out by now, I can’t help you. Having said that, a club can spend badly as man utd did. Spending big is a necessity but not a guarantee. If you’ve got a washed up, like Josa Moo, you can spend big and fail. Arsene wenger is the manager of arsenal. He manages the team. He is given money by the club and spends what he is given. He doesn’t own the club and he is not a shareholder, nor is he on the board of directors. He is employed by the club to manage the team, nothing else. He is given a budget to work with by the club. Stan Kroenke is the majority shareholder of arsenal. He and no one else decides how much to spend. That’s because he owns over 67% of the club and has a controlling stake. Arsenal spent £90 million this summer because as the majority shareholder he decided to spend that money. I hope that’s cleared it up for you. Two doubles, an unbeaten season, record FA cup wins and the fact he is arsenal’s most successful manager certainly make him a club legend.
Look at the whole argument on here. Recent wins look different it’s not like our boring starts we had for seasons 2014/15. This looks pacy, crisp attacking. High up the pitch pressing, everytime we lose possession. Calm assured Defending, winning duels. Midfield pivots breaking up attacks. Le’ts see if Stoke Away next yields the same approach or not. But it’s exciting to watch, even the haters should admit that.
M0rons’ logic: Telling true fans to stop living in the past, all the while bringing the past to slate Wenger, bunch of hypocrites, very slow and with some caution people are seeing improvement and potential, we are getting better whether you like it or not, if we win the next 3 games which are all winnable then will you keep going on about our great Arsene’s credibility? We are looking like clicking and its exciting for our fans who haven’t had this feeling for a while, i just struggle to understand why most you dont want us to do well individually and collectively, most of you are the most baffling people on here.
Anyway, it’s been a very good few weeks. I’m excited to see us play, which is new. Let’s make it another 2yearsof our Arsene to stay. Let’s make it count. And it’s always nice to give the unevitable reality too.
Arsene may not be perfect, but Stan is silent and will have the final say, and if AW will be here for 2 more years, stop the moaning and get behind the team. Or you will not be missed.

Enjoy the result, Stoke up next! You should be proud of Arsene as true fans.

Sing with me now, One Arsene Wenger.

  2. Give that fantasy Ramseyless team you have set up to Wenger and fourth place is still all you will be getting.

    1. Aaron Ramsey is ideal for Arsenal’s new system, there are few players who divide opinion like Aaron Ramsey and many Arsenal fans would count themselves as sceptics, and yet their one player who looked likely in the first-half to unlock Manchester United was Ramsey, because he is also the one Arsenal player who can unexpectedly break behind his own strikers from a deep midfield position. It is a rare asset and, for all his positional indiscipline from a more rigid midfield two, a quality that has provided one good reason for adapting Arsenal’s system.

If not our Great Leader Arsene who relished this GENIUS MASTER OF ART, who else, you moaner?

      RESPECT ARSENE.

      1. The new 3-4-2-1 structure provides an added defensive security when Ramsey does surge forward but his best position is still even more advanced. With Wales at Euro 2016, and in the exact same system now as Arsenal, Ramsey was outstanding next to Gareth Bale in behind a main central striker. He could perform that role now in tandem with Mesut Özil or Alexis Sánchez and really offer Arsenal something extra.

  3. Holding > mustafi

Wenger needs to go, as do the board and owner. Until that time (at least til AW leaves) there will not be sufficient will or steel to deliver a league or UCL cup.

    1. Supporting the club, the players, and the manager is the decent fans should be all about.
Must be hard for you huh but that’s no excuse really for your total lack of intelligence in general aspects of the club.

“Many fans” have tried to make their feelings known in whatever way they could.”
Really? How many percentage of these moaners that went to the actual protests?
Only 200 moaners that actually dared to show up and the rest was just sitting with iddle hands and do nothing. So how do you expect so called change if you just big with your mouth only?

      1. You are pretty good as displaying a lack of intelligence as well.
But I seriously doubt that you, the soap box standing moral voice of the people was one of the 200 “moaners” you refer to – moaning people who actually pay an awful lot of money to follow their team and are treated to Ozil lazily strolling around the pitch while we get hammered by Palace or good old Aaron Ramsey laughing as he gives the ball away for West Brom to run on and score.
The only thing the “manager” should be shown is the door. He has been exposed as a deluded, arrogant fool on many occasions. In fact, its becoming weekly now.
The tepid, passionless performance of the team has shown that Arsenal need anew direction and a 67 year old fool set in his ways can never deliver that..

        1. True fans supporting trough thick and thin

Wenger was not afraid to use tactical shock therapy after last month’s humbling at Crystal Palace, tweaking his team into a 3-4-3 system. Arsenal have had moderate success in their new formation, winning four of their five past five league matches and reaching the FA Cup final with a gutsy fightback against City, and they passed another test here, recovering when the injured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had to be replaced by Héctor Bellerín before half-time.

They had enough punch in attack to deal with Southampton. Soon Özil was creating Sánchez’s opener; Olivier Giroud, on as a late substitute, headed in the second. It is still out of their hands, but their game in hand on Liverpool bolsters Arsenal’s belief that Champions League qualification is achievable. The players have woken up and while the big questions have not gone away, but thanks to our great Leader Arsene, they will fight till the end.

          KUDOS ARSENE.

          1. As I said before mindless half wits are the ones that follow blindly and without question.

            If the hat fits…

        2. Show some respect to Mr Wenger!

If it was not for him we would be watching games at tiny Highbury still. We know have one of the best stadiums in the Europe if not the world!
Yes we have had a torrid 10 years or so- but everyone knows why that was and we had to be a selling club for years.
Since Wenger started paying big money for players, we have won 2 Fa cups and a possible 3rd on its way! Ozil was the start of Wenger paying big money! These other clubs having paying huge transfer fees for the last 15 years!! We only started 3 seasons ago!!!

  4. The most important thing is to secure the future of Arsene.

    1. Yes matey. And that’s why Silent Stan will have the final say and will allow our Arsene for more 2 more exciting years. Aren’t you true fan excited? We all are. COYG.

  5. Here we go.
    The annual summer crap fest.
    Nothing will change.
    Nothing EVER changes.
Wenger will sign his thoroughly undeserved new contract and given his fourteenth and fifteenth chance to achieve something that could be moderately described as “success”
We will be linked with everyone as we always are.
Then during the last hour or so before the transfer deadline expires we sign a pair of donkeys.
I try to think positively but I know exactly what will happen – as long as he is in charge nothing will change.
Sooner Arsenal fans come to terms with that the easier it will be to accept next season will also be a failure if he is here…

    1. That’s where most of you miss the point, it’s not about absolve our Great Leader AW of responsibility, it’s about realizing that the whole malaise at Arsenal goes beyond Wenger. He is the face of the club in terms of football matters but is not the sole reason the club are in this state.

As arsenal fans, the problem we face is how to remove an owner who has shown no ambition, no commitment and no love for the club. He is the worst thing that has ever happened to arsenal. Not only has he been fleecing fans with the highest ticket prices in football and an unnecessary, counterproductive austerity period, but he has also started taking money out of the club; something he promised he would not do.
When wenger leaves, my guess is that there will be a token cash splash and then a return to business as usual.
This summer I think we will be one of our Great Arsene’sspending in the premiership once again.

      Aren’t you excited? COYG.

      1. “it’s about realizing that the whole malaise at Arsenal goes beyond Wenger. He is the face of the club in terms of football matters” that’s the problem. we are heading backwards and regarded as the laughing stock from all over the world coz the face of the club is one deluded old specialist in failure, running our club like it’s his own family business..

        1. Stan Kroenke to blame for Arsenal woes, not Arsene Wenger – as Usmanov said.

“I do not think that the coach alone is to be blamed for what is happening. All the responsibility for the fate of the club rests with the main shareholder,” Usmanov said.
All you have to do is look at Kroenke’s other sports clubs. The Colorado Avalanche have the worst record in the NHL. The Denver Nuggets failed to make the NBA playoffs for the 8th year in a row. The LA Rams have not made the NFL playoffs in many years and are one of the worst teams in the league. Gazidis being too mellow and satisfied with the balance sheet at the end of the season. With Wenger happily conforming to these standards and focusing on keeping the team competitive. At the end of the day is pure business for Kroenke and you think wenger will be handing himself his new contract? Think with your limited so called brain, dude.

          1. Kroenke doesn’t pick the players for a match, doesn’t put which formation to be used, doesn’t motivate players, doesn’t change tactics when things aren’t going write, doesn’t substitute players late, so many stuffs that happen on the pitch that need not the attention or the presence of Kroenke or Gazidis. It’s only one man, who thinks 4th is like a trophy, who gives excuses (referee, pitch, fatigue, etc.) every time we lose, never takes a blame, he’s the perfect one who never makes no mistakes. thanks, I have a limited brain, I wonder if you have any

            1. No need to to yank at it. I’m trying my absolute hardest to see things from your perspective, some day you’ll go far and I really hope you stay there. Arsene Wenger is one of the greatest of all time. When he came to England in October 1996, he transformed the English game in a way that changed coaching, fitness, training, scouting and diet methods forever. He led, the rest of England followed. Yes, he might have now fallen behind others, but what he did in those first 10 years in English football has shaped how clubs now run now. And look at his achievements. An unbeaten season – something which no other modern day manager has done in the English game. Doubles – Only Sir Alex Ferguson has won more league & cup doubles. FA Cup – No manager has won more FA Cups.

Of course, some will point to his failure to win the European Cup as a reason why he is not one of the greatest. Bill Shankly also never won the European Cup. Does that also mean he isn’t one of the greatest? If you use the pinnacle of achievement to define who is one of the greatest, it would mean the likes of Lionel Messi, Johan Cruyff, George Best & Cristiano Ronaldo can not be considered amongst the greatest. They have never won the World Cup.

Why is Arsene Wenger allowed to stay as the manager when he delivers nothing and other managers get sacked immedietly when they are not able to deliver? The simplest explanation is that the board understands better what they want and what it takes to successfully run a big football club like Arsenal than fans, pundits or critics do.

First, the football fans tend to be excited by new things, while failing to see that there is a lot of value in continuity and stability. Just look at the turbulent times in Manchester United since Ferguson left. Now imagine if the same had happened with Wenger during Arsenal’s leanest years of settling to Emirates – it could’ve been catastrophic, both financially and for the status of the club. Wenger does have his failings, but he is consistent and loyal, and these are values that are very attractive to the employer, but not so for the football audience. Second, Wenger has exceptional skills that are rarely discussed. Just consider the number of players who shone during their time at Arsenal, but faded a lot after moving to other teams (Hleb, Song, Adebayor, …). He knows how to get a lot out of limited players. Or consider players no-body really knew who Wenger turned into stars. Henry and RVP are probably the easiest examples. Or consider the number of ex-players (Henry and Pires are probably the most visible ones, but even Flamini qualifies) who still love to come back to the club to train or pass on their knowledge. Wenger creates a surrounding that inspires and works well for the players. Third, Kroenke still loves Arsene and will have the final say.

So, you have to live with it and get behind the team.

              1. when he came in 1996… mate that’s a long time ago and years have passed, If you still live in the 90s or 2004 and prior to that that’s you, w are in 2017 and from the trend since we moved with time (you stayed in 2004), your master have grown into something else, no longer the person we all adored and loved. ask fans from other teams apart from Arsenal and Spurs, may be then you’ll wake up

“Just consider the number of players who shone during their time at Arsenal, but faded a lot after moving to other teams “, majority of them have won multiple trophies since leaving the Emirates, Wenger is incapable of winning EPL and UCL at all, never will we win under him.. take it or leave it

I’m always behind the team, criticizing the one old deluded guy does not mean I’m not behind the team. differentiate between Arsenal and Arsene, I support the team, you worship Wenger

                    1. Stop insulting fellow Arsenal fans. We are here to talk about football, but just because you don’t agree with someone’s opinion does not give you the right to insult them.
                      THIS STOPS NOW!

  6. It’s true… Arsenal definitely need to be more ruthless. It’s a club that spends huge amounts of money, and devotes incredible amounts of time, to players that hardly ever play due to injury.

All this rubbish about “Stunting young player’s development” needs to stop too. The youth academies are for player development. By the time they make the first team they should be capable of fighting for their places on a level playing field, not being used as an excuse by the manager to inhibit the signing of quality competition for their places.

And another thing… Why do we always have a decrepit club captain that never plays? This is ridiculous and needs to stop. If they provide valuable input in coaching other players, then give them a coaching job and appoint a team captain that leads the team ON THE PITCH!

I agree with the principles of loyalty and continuity, but only because they can contribute to a healthy club and successful team. It’s clearly obvious to the entire world that Arsenal is not a healthy club, and does not have a successful team, so this article’s argument for increased aggression and ruthlessness is valid and long overdue.

  7. my 3-4-2-1
    Mustafi-Van Dijk-Koscielny

    Ox.lade-Niangolan-xhaka /Ramsey – Kolasinac/Monreal

    Ozil-Sanchez

    Andrea Belotti/Lukaku

    1. My wet dream 3-4-2-1

      Cech

      Mustafa Kozzer VanDijk

      Oxlade Kessie Xhaka Kokakola

      Ozil Sanchez

      Belloti

And I think our classy well known globally respected manager will bring em all.

      COME ON ARSENE.

  8. Fellow gooners, stop dreaming that we’ll buy to players anytime soon.
Prices are inflated. Only part of Sanchez’s transfer money will go back to transfers. A top striker’s price starts from 60 million quid I believe. And I also believe that Arsenal won’t spend over 50, if that.
What we need is a lucky buy of a promising star in the mould of Mbappe. That’s all we can hope for.

    1. Mapped will cost 100 million euros and he is set to join Real Madrid, wait and see. Whereas His teammate ‘Lamar’ is more affordable (£25 million) and has been likened to Patrick Veira.
Seri is doing the business at Nice, he will cost around £35 million but there’s a few big clubs watching him.

      1. I’m talking pre-Monaco Mbappe. And pre-Leicester Marhez. And pre-scum Dele Ali. And so on and so on.

  9. Having Ramsey on your Dream team bench ?? is More of a Nightmare team, to me.?? I’m not even going to bother slating the rest of it.?

  10. wait till he reads your comment. an article will follow as his/her reply.. wait and see mate

    1. Why do you lot have to start insulting other Arsenal fans just because they have a different opinion to you?

  11. OP, I actually really like your Arsenal dream team. It would be solid, powerful with a cutting edge. However, I think that we should ship out the following players as they would be surplus to requirements (and help to raise funds): Walcott, Ramsey, Giroud and Wilshere.

And whilst we are dreaming, I’d definitely include Lacazette in the squad.

  12. Galen

Very interesting article, and I agree with those people you said should go , in the main. But let’s be honest, that winner mentality, it’s not going to happen at Arsenal. Not with AW being there.

I saw an interesting clip on arsenalfantv with Paul Merson and he said that this summer if there is one person he could sign it would be David Dein. Remember him. Was it a coincidence that when Arsenal were winning he was around. Merson said that if he came back Arsenal would be challenging for the premiership within 3 years.
