Why Arsenal MUST keep the Ox!

With the Premier League season coming to a close and Arsenal failing to qualify for the Champions League, there are plenty of rumors doing the rounds linking Arsenal’s top stars with moves away from the Emirates. One of those rumours that has been around for quite some time is in regards to Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain, with Liverpool said to be very keen on acquiring the services of the player.

The speculation was further fuelled when the Englishman admitted on a talk show not so long ago that his Arsenal future was far from secure, considering that there was no shortage of suitors and how the Gunners’ star was struggling for first-team football at the time. But a few months on from when those comments were made, the situation is very different for the former Southampton youngster.

Since Wenger tweaked his formation to a back-three system, Alex had been a mainstay in the side until his unfortunate injury. In fact, his meteoric rise towards the latter half of the season propelled him to being voted as the runner-up for Player of the Season at Arsenal. With that being said, surely the club must take every step to ensure that the player signs on new terms at the Emirates.

But with just one year to run on his deal, the club do not have much leeway. Clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City, who are understood to be interested, can offer him Champions League football and higher wages compared to Arsenal. In addition, the Ox admitted recently that despite his success at wing-back, his desire was to play in midfield and any promise in that regard may contribute to a potential departure as well.

Personally, I think Alex must be kept at all costs. The past season, he has improved on every aspect that drew him criticism – consistency, fitness and his final ball. In addition, he counts as a homegrown player and his versatility will be a great asset for the team. Considering that he’s been around for so long, it’s easy to forget that he is still only 23 and if this season was anything to go by, the Ox is only going to get better.

Do you think he will stay?

  1. Absolutely spot on. Arsenal cannot afford to lose one of our most promising stars. I say, keep Chambo by all means.

  2. In the final today, Arsenal has he edge. Or at least the game will be closer than expected which could be nicked by anyone. This is not because of the team’s ability or fire or passion.

Arsenal under Wenger has become a team performance gets swayed by the psychology a lot. We have on paper a team that can earn a place in the top 10 of europe but mentality wise we are the bottom 10 of the England. When there is a nothing to lose type of situation, Arsenal do well. Our late surges in the last months of the season when title is no longer to play for, is the testament to this fragile mentality.

This final is even better. There is so much lesser expectation and pressure already before this game. You can almost feel that winning/losing is not going to affect our moods about our abysmal season. A perfect setting for mid table team, mentality wise.

So. Relax. Our sissies might come away with a victory afterall.

  3. i dont really care about ox.. i like him very much but even the biggest talent is useless if he cannot start 5 games without an injury.. sell all the overly injuryprone players ie welbeck, wilshere, maybe ox should be kept but if somebody bids big just sell him

    1. You sound confused, let me guess, your little sister wanted her dolls back and kicked you out of her room? ??

      1. no no i kicked her out of her room, the dolls are MINE xD
no seriously we have too much injury prone talents xD just sell them and buy new players :/

  4. rather sell Mr. Aaron Flicks and keep the Ox, one has never improved since his lucky season (fluke), but Ox shows a lot of development and can be one hell of a Midfield, he’ve shown classy displays this season when employed in the middle of the field

  5. Wenger has failed in the development of the Ox, yet someone like Klopp would have no problems in unleashing the beast in this player.

In other news: Wenger is saying that he gives away all his winner medals ?… ?… ?… ?.. ?? What!?.. He actually got medals for coming 4th? ?

  6. If Wenger stays then Ox should join a club that has a good manager that can develop him and bring him success
