Why Arsenal must not risk Alexis Sanchez v West Ham

There will certainly be a temptation in the mind of Arsene Wenger to include the man that the Arsenal fans voted as the best player of last season in the matchday squad for the opening game of the Premier League. In fact the manager has already suggested, as reported by Arsenal.com, that he might pick the Chile international even though he has only returned to first team training this week.

The Frenchman said, “Alexis is back in training but I don’t think he will be involved on Sunday, it is a bit early maybe. We have to decide that at the end of the week, but I don’t think he will be involved.”

Having revealed that Danny Welbeck is still not available and with Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky also out of action, I can understand why the boss might just feel that he may need his star man but I think it would be a mistake, or at least too much of a risk.

Imagine if he threw Alexis on against the Hammers on Sunday only for him to pick up a knock or a strain because he was not 100 percent. I know we are desperate to get off to a winning start but we still should not risk all for just one game. And to be honest, the Gunners that are fully fit should have no problem beating a West Ham team that is in a bit of disarray and has to play a Europa League qualifier in Romania tonight.

Do you agree that Wenger should just trust in the likes of Walcott, Giroud, Ozil, Cazorla and Ramsey to get that first win under our belt and give Alexis that little bit of extra time to get ready?

  1. Sanchez is a fighter and would love to start against Westham but I believe He should be rested still. He can start games from next month. Lets see how OX performs. I believe He will start against West Ham…I predict a big season ahead for Him. Hope He stays fit

Off Topic: Quick Recovery to Wilshere. Not a starter recently but He is a fan and Arsenal player so He deserves my respect….Get well soon Rosicky and Welbeck too. COYG!

    1. Agreed, we really shouldn’t need him for this game. OX was tipped to be player of the season this season by a number of our own players, so let he and theo work the wings with OG in the middle. We’ll only need to score 1 goal anyway with our new master of clean sheets in goal… although I would love a 5-0 statement in the season opener.

  2. We don’t need to risk Sanchez.west ham will not be that big of a problem. We should be able to get past them. All we need is Theo on rw and ox on lw.

  3. He should make th bench atleast. west ham players would be scared to see him on bench. And the are currently losing 2:1 against Astra Giugui in europa qualifiers.

    1. They only brought Kevin Nolan from from their first team so we won’t get any benefit from that result; still expect a victory by two goals

  4. Surprisingly high number of non Arsenal fans on social media that are actually backing us to win the title. A couple months ago people would laugh at the mention of us winning the league.

    1. Why now nobody is laughing?? Oh let me guess cuz we got cech.!!! I don’t understand how signing just one top class player makes us favourite. In order to really be the favourites we need at least two more class players.its obvious!

      1. We need a striker who can torment oppesite teams. The team cant rely always on team play and rely always on hard effort to score goal. There must be someone who can do it naturally. Damn the football world for making Van Persie want to leave us.

  5. I think the Boss may start Sanchez on the bench in our home game against the West Hammers. We’ll know more when the Boss make his weekly press conference. In line with my suggested rotation policy at Arsenal this season, Debuchy, Gibbs and Giroud have to be started by the Boss for the WH game as Bellerin, Monreal and Walcott have already started in the Chelsea game at Wembley for the Shield. Not to waste time, my starts: Cech. DebuchyRhino’KoscielnyGibbs. CoquelinCazorla. IwobiOzilOxlade. Giroud. The Boss has to give a start to Iwobi as Jack is not available. This my starts are the most vibrant starts for a long time. They will cause the tiring West Hammers to vibrate and collapse at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

  6. To be honest, last year when i saw Ox running like a bull i mistook him at times with Sanchez. The kid can learn a lot from sanchez like sanchez did from the grea di natale. Expecially how to hit the ball.

Meanwhile the fan madnes in this side is currentlz like this. My list needs to be ubgraded bec of the last days.

    Wenger>God
    Giroud>Surez and Rooney
    Walcott>Thierry Henry
    Ramsez>Zidane
    Mertesacker>Giraffe
    Cambell>Neymar……..tilll next times.

  7. OT – if compared,, Coquelin matched Matic in the community shield game… which makes him a World class DM
    COYG

  8. Di Maria joins PSG for 63 million. Is he really worth that much after the season he had? He wasn’t as exceptional as Sanchez was. Just for interest sake, how much would Sanchez cost PSG from Arsenal?
