Why Arsenal MUST play Cazorla in the middle at West Brom

The Arsenal and Spain international midfielder Santi Cazorla is one of those players that is sometimes a victim of their own versatility. Almost as adept with either foot, he can play on both flanks as well as his best position as a central attacking midfielder pulling the strings.

And Cazorla certainly did that in his first season with the Gunners following his move from La Liga. The little magician also scored 12 goals in that debut season and was voted by the Arsenal fans as our Player of the Year, but has since had to contend with the arrival of Mesut Ozil and now Alexis Sanchez, as well as a few injury problems of course, He does play for Arsenal after all.

But Cazorla got the chance to impress at number 10 against Borussia Dortmund and had a huge impact, setting up Yaya Sanogo for the opening goal and claiming a second assist for Alexis to score the second. That is not the only reason why I think he should play there again today though, because I also think that Wenger should start the fit again Olivier Giroud up front. The Frenchman is fresh and also gives us the aerial ability to cope with West Brom’s set pieces which they are very good at.

That means we lose the pace of Danny Welbeck up front, but that can be compensated by playing the pacy Alexis and Oxlade-Chamberlain in the wide attacking positions, with Cazorla creating chances for them and linking up with the big French striker. Our Chilean star is also brilliant in the number 10 role but he is much more effective than Cazorla on the flanks.

So Gooners, do you agree that Cazorla should get another chance to shine in the middle?

    1. yes we do….for number 10 position we have Rosicky, Ramsay, Sanchez and Carzola….all excel in that position..

        1. of course we should play caz in the middle. like 50% of our team, he’s a #10.

but we have no good fit CBs and no RB or DM.

and we’ll probably buy some kind of attacking player in jan since wenger said he’s an attacking manager.

  1. Cazorla tells IBTimes that Arsenal’s orig. target was to win every competiton this season but that’s now changed to “securing the CL places”

can’t see us winning anything big under wenger

    1. wenger’s also said that we cannot compete payment-wise to chelsea, manc.
if what leo says is true, he must believe that w/o buying the most expensive players he can win all these championships.

i really believe the link between the price of the player and probability of winning is much stronger than wenger would like to admit bc it would undermine his belief that he’s still better than others at spotting cheap diamonds in the rough and make winning teams from them. but he’s not. he has to be less cheap if he wants to win.

      1. Utter Crap. We have a higher wage bill than chelsea. We spent more on Transfers than them. Excuses.

  2. hope wneger doesn’t let chuba akpom leave else we will be making a big mistake like we did carlos vela don’t what wenger sees in sanogo , akpom is much better player he deserves chance

  3. I think Ramsey is slowing getting back. Not having Wilshere will benefit him. Hope he scores today just to satiate that attacking urge.

Mesut Ozil is shortlisted amongst 15 others for world FIFA XI midfielder. Only three will be chosen.

And Wenger said atleast one player is coming in Januray. COYG.

    1. Vela is saving Moyes ass….

Wenger just love to assist others…to win

      RVP Man U

      Adebayor, Toure, Nazri, Glichey……..for City

      and now Fab for Chelsea…..

our former players are making headlines for others…

    2. @sumo: “And Wenger said at least one player is coming in Januray. COYG.”:

actually wenger said, in his usual infuriating understated language that “In January we will, of course, try to get at least one body in.”

no mention on what will be the injury level of that body.

      1. Wenger said “We will LOOK
to get at least ONE player in ”
        Thats a definite maybe 🙂
We won’t know what we need
till January. Will we buy tho?
Maybe loan Squilacci and Kalstrom 🙂

      2. “We will definetly have to bring in a CB if Vermaelen leaves.”
Can anyone guess who said that ?

  4. If we can’t get the dm we want in jan then think we should try and get cabaye on loans from psg he is getting very little game time and would certainly do a job for us if he does outstandingly well then have option to buy him in summer. Must buy a cb whatever happens that’s a priority in jan.

  5. @Sumo.

“And Wenger said atleast one player is coming in Januray.”

    BOLLOCKS!!!!!

Didn’t he say something similar about getting a CB? Close to the end of the last window?

“Wenger said atleast one player is coming in Januray.”

And so? What if no one comes in January?
There is going to be an excuse (valid/invalid), that you @Sumo, are going to continously batter us with every single time we moan about bad losses.

With Wenger, I’ll rather look at the bigger picture (hoping there exist one) when it comes to transfer windows, than hold on to little “promises” of getting “atleast one player” every other January. That way I can support the manager, without feelings of disappointment every now and then.
