Why Arsenal should forget Chelsea and focus on Tottenham

While there was some good news for Arsenal fans this weekend in the Premier League, as Man United and Liverpool provided the draw that we wanted as well as a cracking game and Everton gave us a late christmas present by hammering Man City, it was not all good for the Gunners.

We should be happy about our clean sheet and four goals away to Swansea City, and I am, but we could have done without Chelsea winning with ease despite not having Diego Costa. It was ominously impressive from Antonio Conte’s team and I am concerned that Arsene Wenger and the lads will be disheartened by their seemingly relentless form.

Which is why I reckon that Arsenal should switch our attention to Tottenham. Not to give up on the title, though, but to give us more chance because if the last 20 years have taught us anything it is that no matter how good the spuds are or how bad we may be, the end of the season table will see us above our north London rivals.

If you do not believe me just take a look at the end of last season. I hate to say this but Tottenham are looking very good indeed right now, so finishing above them will be no easy task, but it is one that us fans and everybody at the club should feel confident in achieving.

Focus on that and forget about Chelsea for the moment shall we?

  1. What are you talking about? They’re professional athletes….
The next match and 3pts should be their main and only focus.

  2. Forget about the spuds, focus on next game do do their best, no matter the opponent.
Do not drag us down to the level of competing with the spuds, we are above that and should act as such.

  3. I say forget about everyone else, focus only on getting maximum points on every game, then come back here at the end of the season and let’s talk about everyone else!

  4. Wow, look at Sevilla. They got the two time Copa America winning Chile manager and look what he is doing with some ‘reject’ players.

We play for 40 minutes in a match either in first half or second, agianst some teams only 20 minutes ( PSG*2 etc) . We need to get that up to at least 70 minutes.

But it doesn’t register in 70% of the players that they need to do that. So the manager either needs to get their fitness up or punish them for not playing at high intensity.

  5. to give us more chance because if the last 20 years have taught us anything it is that no matter how good the spuds are or how bad we may be, the end of the season table will see us above our north London rivals.”

bullshiiiit!! every season u pacify ourselves with finishing above spurs …i dnt really care bout d blood position spurs are in… i wonder what type of mentality u guys have..u blame Wenger for 4 position every year yet u are no diff since urs is always above spurs.. SMH…thumb me down all u want but this artcle is crap

  6. We should only concentrate on how we play, we can:t do anything about how Spurs or any other team plays. If at the end of the season we finish above Spurs then good,if not then so be it, it means they have played better than us.

Our focus should be how we play in the next game.

  7. The most important thing is to take care of our own business and win all our fixtures. However it would be disingenuous to say that we shouldn’t be aware of what else is going on in the league and what implication other results will have. This weekend is a case in point, we took care of our own business whilst UTD and Pool cancelled each other out and City dropped points…a very good weekend for us.

Next week, there will be dropped points, among the top six, as City are at home to the Scum. However, we need to get the job done at home to Burnley.

The week after that will present the opportunity for more dropped points as the ‘Chavs’ will go away to the Pool. We on the other hand should expect nothing less than three points at home to Watford.

At the beginning of February, we will have to do our own dirty work by wrestling three points off of the ‘Chavs’ at the bridge.

The above results are not as far fetched as they seem. I also believe that there will be some unexpected dropped points like today’s result of City losing to Everton. Anyway, points will be dropped, the question is will we be there to capitalise?

  8. How About Arsenal Focus on Arsenal, what sort of article is this. We have so many loopholes in the club, our first half performances so far has been abysmal, we need to improve on it. The players should step up their game and be consistent on the winning front till the chelsea game.

  9. What kind fans do we have at arsenal, really we should forget Chelsea and concentrate on finishing above Tottenham, do u have any ambition at all

    1. those are the same fans that can’t see beyond life after Wenger. Wenger built that mentality of finishing above Spurs, that’s the only achievement they see. and 4th (Wenger) trophy ofcourse

    2. What a short sighted attitude, so if Tottenham finish 16th you’d be happy to finish 15th just as long as we finish above them. We shouldn’t be thinking about finishing above any one team we should just aim to win every game and see where that takes us.
