Why Arsenal will sell Giroud to Everton in January?

The Arsenal and France international star was apparently right at the top of Ronald Koeman’s transfer wish list in the summer, with some Arsenal transfer rumours claiming that the deal was very close to going through at some stages of the window.

Perhaps if Arsene Wenger had been successful with the attempt to sign his own top target, the young Monaco forward Thomas Lemar, with a massive late bid then Arsenal would have let Giroud go to Merseyside. According to their local paper the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees are going to try again in January once the winter transfer window is open, with Koeman planning to offer about £40 million for our big and powerful centre forward.

If this is true then I think the Dutchman could be more successful the second time around, and not because I believe the Gunners will get Lemar, because I don’t, not in January at least. The reason I think Giroud could be on his way is because another big and powerful front man could be heading to the Emirates.

I am talking, of course about Cavani, the striker who as well as scoring lots of goals for PSG appears to have the unmatched ability to wind up their world record signing Neymar. Most people in the football world ecxpect to see the Uruguayan’s career with the French club come to an end very soon and Arsenal are being linked with his transfer.

Sign him and there will be little room in the Gunners team for Giroud, so will Everton get their man a few months from now?

  1. Yes, we won’t get Cavani especially in January….
Loosing Giroud, Sanchez and Ozil in the same year is not good at all….

This is all wishful thinking and rubbish rumors…

  2. I find it funny when arsenal fans talk about transfer rumuors esp in the middle of a season…people like getting their hopes high for nothing….anyway who can see many big teams dropping to the europa league, its gonna be tough!

  3. Giroud can go, not doubting his quality and I applaud him for everything he has done for the club but I feel 40 million is to much to reject for a player approaching the end of his career. Cavani is unlikely to come but him and Laca up top would be immense. Another player to play behind Laca and move Welbeck to reserve striker 1 would be the way I would use the money. Maybe one of the Napoli front 3 when Juventus have dashed there hopes by January

  4. Cavani to Arsenal is a wet dream, it won’t happen. No CL football no ambitious top players for Arsenal.

  5. Giroud is a very good player, especially as an impact substitute, and we would miss him if he went. If he did go at the age of 30 we would not get anywhere near £40mil for him.
As for Cavani well it is possible he could come to us as he will be almost 31 and the top teams may no longer have an interest in him. He probably only has a 2 years quaity football in him and I cannot see Wenger paying much for him even if he was interested which I doubt.
