Why do all the Arsenal players seem to support Wenger?

The players seem to love Wenger! By SK

Footballers are known to be very powerful! They are the ones that play the actual game on the pitch and the tactics of any coach will be useless if the players can’t effect it well. A club needs footballers to make it complete! Whenever a club is not doing well, nobody blames the players, everybody blames the coach. That is how powerful a player is! A club may sack 5 different coaches before sacking a player.

Decisions making in a club usually involve the players! Whenever a team plays badly, there is every probability that the coach has lost the dressing room; he has lost the respect of his players who in return are not motivated enough to play with their heart. There have been many stories of how footballers from certain clubs meet with the owners of such clubs, to decide the future of certain coaches. Coaches have been hired and sacked in the Premiership and every other league around the world. Club owners don’t joke with the welfare and opinions of their footballers, especially if such a footballer is world class! But is that what happens at Arsenal?

Alex Iwobi said yesterday : “They need to have a bit more respect, in my opinion.

“I mean, he’s been at the club for 20 years, he’s achieved a lot, obviously they’re a bit impatient with the results and where they want to finish.

“We also want to finish there, we want to win the league like anyone else. I can guarantee we are trying our hardest.

“Whatever happens we are the players, we affect the result. We don’t really look at the banners or what fans are screaming, we focus on trying to do our jobs on the pitch.”

In Arsenal, it seems the coach decides the future of their players. He decides who goes, who stays, who plays and who does not play. No matter how big a player is, if Wenger is not satisfied with you, the bench may be your abode for a while. The contract saga for instance is a good example as to how powerful the Arsenal coach is! Unless he decides if the club should pay Sanchez his demands, Sanchez will leave and Wenger cares less! Oh, what a shame!

Away from the contract issues, has anyone ever noticed that every Arsenal player seems to be in support of Wenger staying as coach of Arsenal? Not a single player has come out to voice his opinion on how the club is being managed! Even our ex-players, who are not going to be punished for bearing their minds, all seem to support Wenger even when they are aware that he has nothing more to offer!

Giroud said: “We want to see Arsene Wenger continue, to continue the adventure, because we support him.

“We hope to win the cup and qualify for the Champions League.”

The likes of Monreal, Ramsey, Iwobi and Giroud have all been reported by the papers to have come out to publicly support their gaffer! There seem to be an unwritten rule that forbids the players from castigating their coach or is it just love for the manager? Until the players actually start exercising their powers, the club may never move forward, will it?

  1. Because AW is the current boss. If they come out and tell the world what they really think do you think that would help there cause of playing every week?

How they ‘say’ they support him and what they have been doing on the pitch recently are two different contradictory things altogether!;)

    1. Yeah!…. Who cares if the players support wenger or not…..they are all in the same boat……And add to that , half the bunch don’t play for the badge but for the money
      .
They don’t feel the pain…they Leave any window they choose… Whether the club is left high and dry or not
      .
THE FANS ARE THE REAL DEAL……. EVERYBODY ELSE COMES AND GOES……BUT WE STAY FOREVER

    2. Podolski? Pires? Even the eccentric Jens Lehmann who had a few run ins with Wenger. The current model the club runs on is NOT designed with the fans in mind, it is designed for the owners to milk us for as much as they can. The players, current and former, can see right through this, Nasri said as much, about Wenger trying to convince the board not to sell him and Fabregas in the same window. Arsenal is under seige from corporate raiders, but we are busy looking to get the one person who has kept us from feeling the pinch of such outrageous model. In case you are looking to accuse him of tactical ineptitude, Wenger has never been a coach to micromanage his players on the pitch, even during the season they went unbeaten, he simply got intelligent self motivated players together who communicated with and led each other on the pitch, figuring out opponents and outwitting them without waiting for instructions from the bench, Henry, Pires, Vieira, Adams, Keown, Campbell come to mind here. Methinks he got a little bit carried away thinking he could get technically gifted young players without the requisite temperament to weather the storm to replicate that brilliance, in came your Denilsons and Fabregases who could play anyone off the park but lacked that hardcore defiance in the face of adversity especially evident in the Gallas episode when Eduardo broke his ankle. This season we saw two players come in with steely determination in the form of Mustafi and the ever intelligent but defiant Granit Xhaka.

  2. Because Wenger kidnapped Iwobi’s pet rabbit and won’t give it back until he has made a statement

  3. It is the players when they are on the pitch. Tactics are used to try and give your team a bit of an edge, but the best players know how to make that edge for themselves, sure they are the one’s who become future managers. The manager, any manager will show a weakness or strength to watch out for, the players should be aware of that before being told, they are the ones facing it every time. The players get off much too lightly if you ask me. Our manager has been feeling the brunt of our anger for years, but he is too strong minded for it to work the changes we wanted, I wonder if certain players felt half the heat that our manager felt, if it might bring change in attitudes performances and other areas.

    1. The manager needs to manage and bring the heat, whose fault is it if they have no pressure, it is Wenges

      1. I didn’t say Arsene holds no blame, of course he does that goes without saying. I’m saying if he can’t put a fire up them then maybe the fans could have. I’m saying the players are big enough to know commitment without being told to be committed. They know football, they know who to watch out for and who to never leave unmarked, they don’t need to be told this stuff. Some fans treat players like they are infants.

    2. My friend we are talking about professional football. Its all tactics just look at Alex who had a mediocre team its tactics that cme out on top

      1. I’d argue mentality and a Knighthood. The Knighthood got him all sorts of benefits that other teams did not, I heard a myth that some team won a penalty over there once.

  4. I actually believe that all tha players except sanchez want wenger to stay because they are very comfortable under him. Remember that most of our players have been molded by wenger to accept top four as a trophy and also to accept huge defeats as part of football. The only players i can see are not happy with the establishment are sanchez, ozil, chamberlain and maybe the likes of mustafi but out of these guys, ozil would prefer he stays because he might not get another manager who supports his inconsistencies and mustafi just arrived. We have to accept that our player are not very ambitious and that is transfered from the manger.

  5. What this bunch has to say I can care less, my disappointment with this team and their leader is beyond belief……I will stop posting and will express my frustration in some other way, but I will definitely take action against the board and their puppet, not buying seasons ticket, will watch the team at any park but the Emirates, will not buy merchandise, bottom line they can do whatever they want, keep the senile for another 2 years but they will not do it with my hard earned money….will always support ARSENAL but till things change hope from the owner to the bottom will not finance this mess they brought up to my team.

  6. Of course they’ll support Wenger. They do not have to apply themselves too much during training, enjoying their mega wages without stress, manager justifying their mediocre performances on the pitch, overall they r in a pressure free environment…of course they’ll love him. They are very much aware that a new manager will not tolerate their insipid displays on the field and would not hesitate to ship them out.
