Why the OX is key man for Arsenal at Liverpool today

Arsene Wenger was handed a massive boost as he prepared to head north with his Arsenal squad to face Liverpool at Anfield. Not only do the Gunners need to banish the painful memories of last season, we badly need the three points in order to close to within just a game of our top four rivals Man United and to keep the gap to the top no bigger than 10 points.

Just like last season, however, the Arsenal boss is struggling to cope with injury problem on top of injury problem, so the news reported by The Mirror that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott passed late fitness tests and have travelled to Liverpool with the squad is a huge boost.

I don’t expect that Walcott will feature much, if at all, and he is unlikely to make a big difference, but it is great to have the flying England forward close to a full comeback almost a year after we lost him. But the inclusion of the Ox is simply massive and could make the difference between us winning and losing.

Without Chambo, the Gunners were looking very weak and vulnerable in the middle, but his pace, power and energy should stop us being overrun as were last season and that gives our attacking players the platform to expose Liverpool’s shaky defence.

The Ox needs to be disciplined in that central role but he did that brilliantly against Newcastle last weekend and if he can do the same job today, I am confident of an Arsenal win. How about you guys?

    1. Which fans? The more I see AOC played more centrally the more convinced I am that is where he will end up. With better end product and decision-making he could become huge for us there. He simply eats up the ground through the middle when he picks it up from deep – very impressive.

      1. Definetely agree with you, last week was one of the more dynamic way of playing from Arsenal in the season due to Ox being in the middle. He is fast and direct,Welbek is direct,Sanchez is direct,Cazorla adapt to them,Giroud has just to run into the box for the finishing touch,no slowing.Ox is a kind of Hazard style of player,I expect him him barring injuries to be a huge talent in the close time.
If we could add a big strong DM,and another solid CB for the big team,Arsenal could be a threat to any team in the world with this directness.
Can Wenger give up his stubborness and listen to people in byuing what the team need.He will have the fans on his back if he does not,for sure.

  1. I like him in the number 10 role .. We look good on the counter attack yet Wenger stil makes us play this slow possession football

  2. I really like to see OX in the middle as he provides pace and power. I would even say he looks better in CM than Ramsey and Jack at the moment.

  3. Almost time.

I am.extremely nervous leading upto this kickoff.

Kind of the feeling going into bat needing 10 runs in last over with no wickets in hand.

  4. may have missed it,but i don’t see Bellerin. hope he,s not hurt. we could use his fearless play and good crosses.
