Why Wenger WILL still be Arsenal manager next year!!

I know that a bigger percentage of Arsenal fans than ever before would like to see the end of Arsene Wenger’s reign as the manager of Arsenal Football Club as soon as possible, but if it came down to a choice between having a new man in charge next season or winning the Europa League this year then I am sure that percentage would be much smaller.

I think that the two things are inextricably related as well, because if Le Prof and the Arsenal team do go on to lift the Europa League trophy at the Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan in May then the Frenchman will certainly feel justified in staying on for another year.

He might do so anyway, as there has been plenty of pressure on him, from the fans at least, to go for some years now. That pressure will be almost unbearable, you feel, if the Gunners do not lift the European trophy and end the season without silverware and so far off the top four spots in the Premier League.

So why do I say that Wenger will still be in charge next Year? Simply because I think Arsenal WILL win the Europa League. Apart from Atletico de Madrid I do not think Arsenal should worry about any of the clubs left in the competition and we do seem to be saving our best for the Thursday night games.

Do you guys share my confidence? Do you actually want Arsenal to win it if it means keeeping Arsene Wenger in charge for another campaign?

Bob.

  1. Don’t underestimate cska moscow, liezpig, marseille recently recruited well and sporting.

if ostersunds beat us then any of these teams can easily knock us out.

    scenario 1.
Wenger wins europa league and remains as manager advantage we get back in champions league.
    scenario 2
Wenger bottles it up and we get dumped out of europa league.board forced to sack him.
    advantage new manager.

dont know which one i want more ????

      1. I agree – the sooner we start rebuilding this club the better. Arsene has had 10 years of failure, Yes an FA cup here and there is a failure with no other trophies to show for it. I would rather win the league once every five years and the Champions league once every 10 then win the FA cup every year.
Arsene has to go now. Lets loose every game left this season if it means he will leave.

        1. Spot on. It is actually what I have been wishing for ever since we went so far behind fourth place. And it will soon be happening no. Though it seems hardly any fans can see the events unfolding. Some fans just won’t open their eyes, ears and brains to what is clearly happening upstairs. Gone in late May!

    1. What about scenario 3:
We win the europa league and Wenger steps down as manager

I know its unlikely that Wenger would step down if we win the Europa and I do want him out, but its good for us to win the Europa and be in the champions league next season

  2. Welbroke’s centre of gravity is off. He really needs to see a specialist. Even running straight with the ball he falls. Then he falls and falls and falls. Like 10 times in one game. He must be holding the record of the most tumbles in the premier league. So annoying…

  3. You do give the European trophy to much credit. Its just a secondary trophy for secondary clubs who try to win it by weaseling their way back into the cl again out of incompetence.

Athletico M. being here is just a fluke. Their aim is somewhere else. They aim is to compete with the big guns. They have secured a cl place already for the next year due of them being good enough to consider them self cl material. So they take this competition on as easy as it can get. No pressure no panic.

While Arsenal does hope to win this competition for what reason? Do we have what it takes to play in the cl for the years to come? And that with a manager in Arsene Wenger?

It wont make any diff if he stays for an another year or two. Again we will find our self in the same poz as today. There is no progress at all but instead complete stagnation.

I do hope that we sincerely win this competition for the sake of the future. But i do hope that fans play their role in pushing the board to make the necessary decisions for the years to come.

Fans can punish Arsenal by refusing to go and watch the games. ( no is saying give up on your tickets, just dont go for a while, or dont go inside when the game starts and just come later). This will make the board think hard what to decide for the future.

So you British fans out there, don’t let us fans down who cant do anything, and make your self relevant at Arsenal.

#Make Arsenal great again. #Vote for Wenger out. LOL

    1. ks-gunner congratulations on a well reasoned post.
Although I believe Arsene Wenger should have gone some years ago, I still want the Arsenal to win every competition they are in. I don’t like looking back on lost opportunities.

  4. My choice would be win Europa and Wenger leaves on a high note. I support the players, and support Ivan hiring a new manager.
Sven and Raul makes Ivan 2 for 2 in my eyes, so I’m hopful he completes the set with 3rd catalyst for change in May.
I confess I was merciless on Ivan for years, but so far he’s done what he said. I haven’t been truly excited about clubs future for years, but thinking Christmas coming in the Summer this year.

So I say win Europa for Le Prof, take a bow with trophy, and leave with class.

    1. @ Durand,
Wenger winning Europa league trophy and Wenger leaving the club are two mutually exclusive events. You cannot have your cake and eat it, he wins it Kroenke draws him up a new contract, he loses it Gazidis pushes Kroenke to dismiss Wenger. My take is the fraudster will ultimately remain regardless of whether or not he wins it, he has Kroenke too far up his backside with all the money he is making him.

    2. Trophy and wenger exit is my wish. But just to be clear, wenger gone is top priority for me over Europa trophy. Wenger gone 1st, top manager 2nd then players.
Second thought, Kronkes (both) gone first, then wenger, new manager and new players.
If we are splitting hairs that is

  5. Kreonke has the final say Arsenal fc is his family business, WOBs have no impact on Wenger’s future at Arsenal unfortunately

    1. “BUSINESS” BEING THE RELEVANT WORD IN YOUR POST. NO BUSINESSMAN WHO GETS TO BE A MULTI BILLUIONAIRE GETS THAT STATUS BY MAKING DREADFUL FINANCIAL DECISIONS. LIKE ACCEPTING A REGLUARLY HALF EMPTY STADIUM. My IQ IS SUFFICIENT TO RECOGNISE THAT TRUTH, BUT YOURS…….?

      1. This is a rather demeaning statement, aren’t you aware the American business man runs sporting outfits into the ground?
You could research about the rams and how they’ve backpedaled over the years. Stan isn’t as enthusiastic as you are about arsenal. He only sees it as a business and this setup will continue yielding him profits.

  6. Rebuilding and competing at top Level can’t happen simultaneously we are rebuilding to match our main rivals then we will be gunning for top honors. The background changes and recruitments at the club is the evidence rebuilding that is taking place .Wenger will leave Arsenal ready to compete for major trophies

      1. Wenger will leave Arsenal to ready to compete for major trophies?Do you understand what you have written? And you a typical Wenger Arse licker. You have just confirmed what the vast majority have recognised for years. That the old man is NOT capable of of doing that job himself.

        1. Bingo! Now you know why we call him the senile fraudster…an old man masquerading as a coach but in reality he is just running a con game, stringing fans along with the promise of “soon competing at the top level” while enriching himself and his master Kroenke.

  7. I hope Kroenke does the right thing but i seriously doubt it.

I think Wenger will be allowed to finish his contract and no way Wenger will voluntarily resign.

  8. The best option maybe for us to win the Europa and Wenger leaves. If I was Wenger though I would highlight the trophies won in the last 5 years and point out that I had still brought the club silverware.

Do the owners want the club to exchange some fa cups for a new era and potential the league, fa cup, Europa or champions leagues, or nothing at all like the majority of club who start every season,.

Either way, I am up for a change at the club but would prefer Wenger to leave with another cup under his belt.

Have no doubt, Arsene Wenger is likely to be one the clubs best ever managers, might be past his “best before” date so hopefully time to leave with a long awaited European cup in the trophy cabinet, all be it not the one we wanted.

  9. Utter nonsense Bob! You have no idea what you are talking about. The club will be announcing Wengers sacking within 7 weeks from today at the very latest. There are no grounds for thinking a regular half empty stadium is acceptable to Kroenke. I WOULDN’T BOTHER WRITING AGAIN UNLESS YOU HAVE SOMETHING SENSIBLE, UNLIKE YOUR ARTICLE , TO SAY.

    1. “The club will be announcing Wengers sacking within 7 weeks from today at the very latest”
Deluded much? You have a crystal ball with you Jon?
And look who is saying another person is talking nonsense. You have the right to express your views but should be sensible enough to know that others must not share or mirror your views. You and your pal Phil often give respond to opposing views with vitriol characteristic of sufferers of delusions of grandeur!

      1. With wenger as your god I guess you are rightly named … Didn’t end well though in the original …. The only delusions of grander that should be worrying us come from the French fossil … I for one prey … Metaphorically speaking … That jon is right

  10. ABEL-so “delusions of grandeur” is how you have just described me.Are you sure? Do you not feel you are trying to state something that your obvious limited grasp of English prevents you? And as for Jon Fox and myself being Pals?We have never met never spoken and never corresponded. We share a common hatred of Arsene Wenger. We also share a long time support of Arsenal Football Club. That is it.There are many many others who post their thoughts and feelings on this site who feel the same way about Wenger and the hierarchy of this club as we do.It would be very very easy to rip your comments to shreds but I simply refuse to waste time pointing out the obvious to you other than to say if your “posts” carried as much conviction and feeling as the ones posted by Jon Fox then you would find yourself gaining far more respect than what you are getting now.Study Ken1945 and how he writes his posts.
It matters very little to me what side of the Wenger Divide you are on ( although in your case it’s even harder because of your very confusing use of words that mean nothing to the context in which you are writing). What does register with me is someone like yourself who finds it easy to reply to someone else’s post as a way of getting your name up there in lights.I bet you go running off to mummy just to show her.
WHEN you have something interesting to say FOR YOURSELF then I will look forward to reading it.Somehow I don’t see it coming.

    1. As expected, here you are Phil to the rescue! I do have other things to do with my time and com on here to read Arsenal related news an views. I’ve actually had an article published by the admin about a month ago. However, I don’t feel the need to comment each time I read an article regardless of whether I agree with it or not. I however, do take exceptions to contributors like you and Jon who simply do not have the capacity to respond to another person’ opinion without bullying tactics and hurling insults and condescending digs at the person. I do respond to appalling behaviour regardless of who it’s aimed at.
It is actually possible to respond to an opposing view with decorum just as Ken 1945 does ever so often.
Regarding your frequent reference to my use of English, I’m sure it’s all in your head. Everyone occasionally has a few word errors mostly due to auto correct on phones while typing messages.
Lastly, you keep going on that you’re a fan of Arsenal but you hate the Manager, most of the players and the board. So which Arsenal do you support? The history of Arsenal or the club itself? Real fans support through thick and thin and not just for Glory!

        1. Abel -unfortunately business is preventing me replying at length so I can only pick up on a couple of your points.
Firstly congratulations on having an article published by Admin.Like you I do not reply to every article unless I have something to say.
In regards I am a fan of Arsenal Football Club.I despise this Manager.I hate this Board and Owner.I make this point at every opportunity.I do not try to hide or disguise my utter contempt for what they have done and are continuing to do to this Club.My stance on this will never change.Icontinue to be at almost every game home away and in Europe.I will continue to do this.
Your opinion of my opinions mean nothing to me and never will.

      1. Under this regime, I support the players only, not the board and specially not the manager.. even if the players aren’t performing they deserve support because they didn’t sign themselves to the club when they are not the quality needed and they do not pick themselves for the games nor do they assign roles and tactics.. I believe we have a great squad able of competing for the league title with the exception of the lack of wingers and a DM, other than that I believe our problems on the pitch are purely tactical and the lack of quality coaching contributing to those failures.. look at bellerin and iwobi, when they started with the first team they were prospects to becoming world class players but after a while under the management of Wenger they became average.. look at Lacazette as another example, he’s being mismanaged and treated badly, not just that, look at him when he’s playing he’s making the right runs in space but guess what? No body is giving that killer pass to him because our present playstyle is not suited for it nor do we have the players that can make that pass with the exception of ozil and you know what happens when he’s not on form.. I expected lacazette to struggle not because he’s not quality, its just because we are used to a style that suits the slow and unskillful giroud for the past 4 years and that style doesn’t lacazette at all and wenger didn’t even change the way we play not one bit. sorry if Its too much to read but its a part of my opinion on why Arsenal are struggling now

  11. I can’t believe he gave the lame excuse of a holiday for the empty stadium.

It just strengthened my belief that he must go.

  12. IMO Wenger thrives on pressure, no pressure no Wenger. There are millions like him in all forms of business. It`s fair to say he has lost his sense of proportions and a little fanaticism has crept in. For the sake of the club and it`s players he should resign at the end of the season but he won`t, that`s where the fanatic kicks in , he has to be stopped he will never yield.
