Why would Arsenal offer MEGA money to Ozil but not Alexis?

If the Arsenal transfer rumours are true then it is hardly surprising that the Arsenal and Chile international star Alexis Sanchez has seemed less than pleased of late, because even though Mesut Ozil is a great player, I do not think you would get many Arsenal fans arguing that it is the Chilean who is more important to our team than the Germany international.

However, with both of these two players coming towards the final year of their current deals with the club, there have been contract negotiations with the pair going on and so far it seems that neither have been persuaded to sign. This is despite the fact that The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal are ready to smash the wage structure to keep Ozil and have offered to pay him around £280,000 a week.

At the same time we have a report in The Guardian revealing that Alexis Sanchez has had to use an apparently huge offer to transfer to another club to sharpen the minds of the Arsenal board into accepting his own wage demands of around £250,000 a week.

Does it make sense to you that the Gunners are stalling and perhaps saying no to paying the super striker a bit less than we are willing to offer the German? Is this just another example of Wenger’s preference for technical players who do not want to rock the boat?

  1. Sanchez will join juve or Barcelona.

score line shows the gulf in class between the two clubs playing today as did the two results against Bayern, this year!

  2. Özil is nowhere near worth of 200k. Sanchez however, is worth all the money. 21 goals and 18 assists in 37 appearances is filthy!

Releasing Wenger from his contract would release 8 million a year from the budget. 100k a week from that wage to Sanchez and rest 50k a week for a new manager.

    1. More likely because Ozil is easier to be instructed, more team player and prefer to assist rather than scoring himself. But I think Sanchez should get more because he can be Arsenal’s focal point in attacking, more consistent and can handle heavy pressures from top opponents.

  3. Sonce we do not know what went on behind the scenes commenting on it wont be right. However it is pretty clear that Alexis’s hunger to win is not matched by any of our players- and the class is matched only by ozil. The simple reason that Ozil is getting a new contract and Sanchez is being shown the door because he dissented against the manager while ozil is happy to toe Wenger’s line

    1. And just so that it is clear i dont think Ozil deserves a penny more than what he is earning today. We will
NOT win anything with Ozil in this team

  4. I just don’t understand why Arsenal would want to keep Ozil. I’m sorry but I just think he is so overrated. I even agree with Jose when he called him a coward, he defends like a lamp post.

  5. Another proof Le Fraud will be our manager next season….Ozil was given his money to smooth fans reaction when WENGER announce he signed the extension…..then because he falls under the dictators wishes, first team regardless of performances, he is one of the favorites and perfectly OK with the teams status quo…..pay that kind of money to Ozil is just another statement from the board and Le fraud that they are in control sticking it to the fan once again…..

  6. Don’t believe all the crap you read. Some of these guys just project their imagination as fact.

  7. AFC wouldn’t pay Messi £280k a week! What makes you think they’d give it to Ozil? Lol

Just give Alexis Sanchez whatever he wants, then throw in an extra £20k on top. He has to stay at all costs!!!

Ozil can stay or go really! But obviously hope he stays
