When Alex Iwobi burst onto the scene a couple of seasons ago, all who watched the youngster ply his trade could see that he had the potential to reach great heights at Arsenal. In fact, Iwobi was impressive to such an extent that he had won himself a regular place in Arsene Wenger’s starting eleven during the latter stages of the previous campaign. But while the pressure may have gotten the better of him this time, I believe that next season could be his breakthrough season.
In terms of ability,the Nigerian international has everything it takes. With raw pace and trickery to go with good positional sense and an eye for goal, the Gunners academy product does not lack much in his game. But the one aspect of his game that has impressed me the most is his creativity on the ball. Unlike a lot of players his age, Alex has an eye for an inch-perfect through-ball, as Arsenal fans may have seen on numerous instances and his link-up play is also very good.
With the new formation allowing two players to occupy the space behind the striker, the 21-year-old may find himself with a handful of opportunities to play in that position, which is where he prefers to play. With no shortage of pace, ample creativity and great link-up play, he has everything it takes to play that role and it remains to be seen whether he can live up to the hype and once again challenge for a regular place in the Gunners starting eleven.
In order to do so, Iwobi has to improve on two aspects, the physicality of his game and consistency in performance . But considering that he is only 21 years of age, I am confident that he can improve on that front as well. Arsenal fans can only hope that the young Nigerian can make the best of his abilities and show up next season as the Gunners look to pick themselves up from the ditch that is Europa League football.

Iwobi has great control and a nice touch. Welbeck doesn’t hence the name. If Iwobi had Danny’s aggression he’d go very far.

Yeah, Iwobi will be an important player next season and that’s according to Wenger’s future dribble. You all know that will come to pass ?? along with how he is the perfect replacement for Sanchez and probably Ozil too ? and how Iwobi has the Quality of both those players rolled into one ??as they say ‘Two birds killed with one stone’ as well as money in the bank.

Its more they have an inane desire to score an

Sanchez succeeds because he does not listen to Wenger.
He is a maverick an exception to the rule and does what
he wants but he can back up his individualism with his goal tally.
Iwobi has the talent but will Wenger kill his

Depends but he should on all account make another step forward. The quality he has is genuine and he has already been put in difficult situations! Now it is up to him to want to take more responsabilities on the pitch. If Özil were to go than the void is there to fill if not with a proper overhaul of the squad he will be trusted into a more prominent role like it or not!
The same goes for Ox, Ramsey and Holding who has been brilliant and you wonder why hasn’t he played more…Also Danny who has shown in spurts has to show up after 2 seasons cut by injuries
unless he improves final ball and can finish of the dribbles.. he will remain a frustrating player to watch in the team. He also needs to be stronger on the ball and not be pushed off easily.
If we do get that Henry Onyekuru guy, playing Iwobi alongside him behind the striker in a 3-4-2-1 formation could bring out the best in both Iwobi and Henry. Just like what we see between Sanchez and Ozil behind Welbeck or Giroud. For me the only difference would be the pacy, dribbling and quick interplay between Iwobi and Henry. It would remind me of a Rosicky and Hleb playing behind a striker in a 3-4-2-1 formation. Thats how I see it IMO.
And how I wish we have Rosicky and Hleb in their mid 20s playing behind a Thiery Henry in his mid 20s in a 3-4-2-1 formation. That would be mouth watering if you ask me. Rosicky and Hleb could reincarnate in Iwobi and Henry Onyekuru respectively. Dreams can come true!
He has potential to be a very good player. But so did lots of our younger players once-upon-a-time. Perhaps if he develops at a strong rate over the next 2 seasons, he will fulfil the potential he has.
However the tendency at Arsenal seems to be that he will either (a) Become really good, then go off to another team in search of major trophies, or (b) In 7 years we’ll still be waiting for him to become consistently good while paying him very high wages in the mean time.
I like Danny. He is a trier which is good. He is also physically strong and pretty quick and can header a ball occasionally HOWEVER if I was to want to sign
A striker (to score goals by striking the ball) I would not
Choose DW for my team.
Why? His control is poor, as his timing and he has very little in terms of tools of the football trade.
Danny is 26 and a professional footballer who has been through a youth system but if you consider dybala (who we could of potentially signed if we showed interest/made an offer) who is 3 years younger than our Danny then I see a completely different animal who has instinct, trickery, technique and guile.
I don’t need to see if he has potential (in the future) because he has showed it from an early age.
As I say, DW is a mediocre footballer at best.
Not good enough. He played better when he first came into the team on the back end of 15/16 season. This season he played most of the league games and he has been below par. He plays well when the team is playing well. Let him proove he is good enough before earning a big wage. That’s what Arsenal should’ve done with the many other overated players in this squad who are now just sitting on these wages without output in games.
IMO Iwobi needs a EPL loan for 12 months so he can get a lot more game time, he is not good enough right now for us, he has moments but he needs to develop that potential and IMO he now needs to play regularly at a high level.
Loan him out and watch him develop into class for a couple/few years time.
