Will CL football help Arsenal beat Chelsea to coveted pair?

Arsenal and Chelsea are believed to be set to battle for the signatures of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and N’Golo Kante, a battle we would surely win right?

Both London sides are looking to strengthen this summer, as they both look to return to the top of the English top division, and two of the best footballers in Europe this year are believed to be open to moving.

Kante was hugely impressive since joining the Foxes 12 months ago, and was even hailed as the best player in the PL by Sir Alex Ferguson.

The midfielder has just tasted Premier League success with Leicester, and would be set for his first campaign in the Champions League in the coming year, should he stay put.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has also enjoyed a thoroughly impressive season, helping Dortmund to finish second to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, while scoring a huge 23 goals and assisting 30 in all competitions.

The Armenian international is out of contract in a year’s time, and has so far rejected the advances of his current club to tie him down to a new deal. He is also claimed to have sent family members to look at houses in London, which has highlighted the belief that he could be joining one of Arsenal or Chelsea.

A move to West London would not grant either player any European football for at least 12 months, which could come as a blow as Kante seeks a move to a big club.

Arsenal on the other-hand finished in second-place in the division, and would surely prove a more attractive place to play, especially with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Hector Bellerin, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to play alongside.

Are Chelsea actual rivals in the transfer market this summer? Or does their distinct lack of European football strongly effect their attraction?

  1. We aren’t getting kante. Literally just bought xhaka, and we already have elneny and coquelin too. Mkh would be a good signing, but apparently we’re also in for mahrez? Hopefully Walcott/Ox will leave if we get either player.

    1. Why do Walcott and ox have to.leave? I say strengthen the squad as well as the starting x1.

Before we even consider Walcott and ox as departures let’s look at he departures of some of the 4 back up keepers, sanogo, wellington. All of whom are classed as over 21 under the 25 man squad rule.

      1. Walcot is a must due to the excessive wge he is eating up.ox ill say let him hve another go for the money.some guys saying iwobi will not get playing time but I believe having world class wingers is essential in a squad coz young players learn from them.so its gud for all our youth if the names we linked with cme, there some things u can’t be taught in the academy

      2. Walcott needs to leave becuase he is utter rubbish and he really needs to get off the payroll and be crap somewhere else.
Been gwith us for ten years and all he’s managed to do is grow a beard.
We need to cash in while we can before he becomes an expensive and un shiftable liability to the club.

  2. I would like both players at Arsenal. Mikh would be great on the right side, kante and xhaka in the middle. However, i would like to see another ST not just vardy signed. With the amount of injuries this team suffers a year+our schedule we need all the men we can sign.

  3. Yes, We can offer champions league football,
(as far as the last 16) But Chelsea would be able to offer a higher wage packet and they would also pay that extra million or two on top of the players transfer fee, whereas wenger would go under the valuation!… by about 5 – 8 millon ?

Just when we thought Bellerin was safe from Barcelona’s clutches, Man City have have now jumped in on his case and they will not be scared off, from his £42 million valuation. ?

  4. We can get Kante but we are not after Kante. Not anymore anyway. He has a release clause and buying him will be easy because he wants to join us but we already have Xhaka. All that while we were pursuing kante, it was as a plan B, should the Xhaka deal fall through. Ever since we got Xhaka, our interest in Kante has waned. The same goes for Mkhitaryan. It is either him or Mahrez. We cannot have both. One is plan A and the other is plan B. I figure Mahrez as plan A because of how well he combines with Jamie Vardy. It makes sense especially with all the concerns about Vardy not fitting into Arsenal. If Ozil cannot find him, Mahrez will. So it is either Mkhitaryan or Mahrez but not both.

  5. In addition, Mahrez is very comfortable on the right wing unlike Mkhitaryan who can do a job there but excels mainly in the centre. Imagine Sanchez on the left, Mahrez on the right, Jamie Vardy upfront and Ozil behind them. Lord have mercy. Now that is a potent force right there.

    Sanchez Vardy Mahrez
    Ozil
    Carzola Xhaka

  6. Personally, I think will should sell Walcot and Ramsey plus Sanogo. I believe that would raise us up to £60 million which we should use to acquire Mahrez and Janssen, then add a quality center back and we will be ready for the season. If we can grab Gotze at the late stage of the window then that will be the final icing on the cake.
