Will Lacazette fast start mean goals galore for Arsenal?

The Arsenal and France international forward Alexandre Lacazette was signed by Arsene Wenger this summer for a club record transfer fee for more than just his goals, although that is clearly a major part of his appeal after he scored more in the last four seasons in Ligue 1 than any other striker, including the PSG stars Edinson Cavani and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The new Gunner’s game is also about pace and movement which helps the players around him as well as the team on the whole. He is also known for his work rate, pressing and tackling ability and hopefully he will be a fantastic addition for all of these reasons.

Having said all that, Arsenal fans will be hoping that he bangs in plenty of goals for us in the coming months and years and Arsene Wenger thinks that his new striker finding the back of the net just 15 minutes into his Arsenal debut could really help him to do just that, as it will settle the nerves and stop any build up of pressure that we have seen affect players like Giroud and Walcott in the past.

Arsenal.com reports the boss saying, “It is important for him to get that [first goal] off his shoulders because you expect to score if you are a striker.

“You could see that he was happy but overall what we were looking for was to play at pace and to develop our collective game and for long periods in the game that was quite good for us. We had tough opposition because they fought for every ball but at the end of the day their goalkeeper was the man of the match.”

I really do not think we can overestimate just how important it is for a striker to have confidence and for Arsenal too. It could be a massive bonus if Lacazette hits the ground running, so will he be able to fire Arsenal to the title?

    1. This has zero relevance to the premier league… didnt Sanogo score 3 or 4 in pre-season once !!

  1. Even if Sanchez will play for us next season yet all eyes will be on lacazette.. He will score more goals and out shine sanchez

  2. I hope he’s really good at closing players down. Alexis has been literally crying out for others to get on the same page. We look unbalanced when Alexis and Oxlade or Welbeck are chasing everything down, but then you see Giroud, Ozil, Walcott and Iwobi virtually watching the game. Iwobi tries sometimes but it’s not something he likes to do, he prefers to look for some space and rely on other players winning the ball and then sending it up to him. But he can do it, and he might do it more so now. I really do not like Giroud Ozil and Walcott in the same starting line up. Lacazette will hopefully put an end to that happening too often. And if we can get Lemar it would really put the cat among the pigeons.

    1. spot on break on through,

as for the article, we just have to stay positive and hope for the best….not based on his first goal, poldosky scored on his debut as well, and it wasnt fairy tales for him at arsenal, but i think lacazeete even if he doesnt score he can bring in the alexis like troubling and disturbance of defenders.. thereby leading to goals, cos all our front men are fairly decent before the goal posts.

i see a good partnersnip between lacazete and iwobi…
if possible sell ozil, mr wenger( how forgetful arsenal fans are)

  3. we can win the league without Sanchez and with a net spend of 75million (or in my opinion keep Sanchez and spend 135 net but have him added to one of the strongest squads ive ever seen) the possibility of 3-5-2, 3-4-1-2, 4-4-2, 4-3-3,
    1 Cech
    2 Bellerin
    3 Mustafi
    4 Kos (C)
    5 Van Djik (60 Million)
    6 Kolasinac
    7 Xhaka
    8 Ramsey
    9 Ozil
    10 Lacazette
    11 Mbappe (110million)
    12 Martinez
    13 Holding
    14 Monreal
    15 Ox
    16 Goretzka (30million)
    17 Lemar (45million)
    18 Welbeck
19 Butland (25million but loan straight back to Stoke)

    Sell
    Sanchez (60million)
    Giroud (30million)
    Perez (15million)
    Debuchy (8million)
    Campbell (10million)
    Gibbs (12million)
    Ospina (10miliion)
    Wilshire (20million)
    Szczesny (15million)
    Jenkinson (10million)
    Akpom (5million)

  4. sold giroud no use the guy cant trap the ball properly talk of his running so pathetic.. giroud is at the level of aston villafc. if my memory serves me well his never dribbled a player ever since he signed for us

  5. Yeah he will score goals, he knows how to position himself pick a spot and shoot, he doesn’t play around..

  6. Let us just hope that he is THE CF we have been dying for years now.But that little cameo on thursday was all positive.Calm, composed, hard work and above all making intelligent runs at the right time in the box.I just pray this is just a TRAILER and there is much more to come from our record signing.

  7. A good cross into the box Iwobi was made great resulting in a goal by Lacazette running from a deeper position and clinical finishing. Similar balls by Ozil, Sanchez, Iwobi and others were wasted last season.
Lacazette’s intelligent positioning and timing of runs should ensure these balls are not wasted and Arsenal score more goals this coming season.

    1. I full agree with you, someone did mention that he does not like to see Ozil to the starter line up i real failed to understand. Who is master of assist ???? come on?? Ronaldo scores lots of goals through Ozil. Arsenal were lacking someone like Lacazette who runs and position himself.

Ozil will have fun as he indicated. Giroud and Wlacot are waste . We can keep them for plan B.

wELBECK just for man united to haunt them by scoring other than that all three let us down for many years, Wenger must play Lacazette as a striker.

  8. I hope he becomes the striker we have been waiting for and i think he will. But did anyone notice he was playing on the left side of the attack while giroud was upfront? I hope wenger hasn’t got some silly plan because we want him upfront in the center because he will be closer to goal where he is so deadly.

  9. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves it is only a pre-season friendly but for the record lacazette did look positive so far. That boy Nelson is unreal though and bramall. If Ox isn’t careful he just might get replaced 🙂

  10. If alexis stays I am more than happy with a front 3 triangle of ozil alexis lacazette. My concern is the current back up of walcott giroud Welbeck. Obviously it is a plan b, which is good, but walcott and welbecks finishing leaves a lot to be desired in the new formation, so I think wenger needs to decide between using a different formation to utilise those 3 or find 3 different players that can be a plan b but also perform when required in the new formation.

As it stands I see this as our first choice x1 in a 3421
    Cech
    Mustafi Mertesacker Koscielny
    Bellerin xhaka ramsey kolasinac
    Ozil alexis
    Lacazette

However, the 2nd x1 will look best in 343
    Ospina
    Chambers Holding Gabriel
    Chamberlain Coquelin elneny Monreal
    Walcott Giroud Welbeck

I have currently left wilshire cazorla and martinez out of the 2 starting x1s along with the u21s and the players I think are leaving. However I don’t think it will be long before Nelson and Iwobi out Walcott and Welbeck from that 2nd x1 and I would have no problem if Maitland-niles and Bramall ended up as the wing back options whilst cazorla, Wilshire and willock could easily force their way into the midfield.

However, I do think it is the end of the road for szczesney Debuchy gibbs jenkinson campbell and perez. Whilst the two over age keepers macey and iliev are going to struggle even for u23 football with Huddart and keto also in the picture. Then there is players like Toral, kamara, Moore, pleguezuelo, zelalem who appear to have been over taken by younger players already.

Still a lot of movement to happen over the next few weeks, hold on to your seats.

  11. For sure he will score though knowing wenger laca will start playing wide to get used 2 the rigours of epl damn wenger time will tell might not be right!”
