Will Ozil, Cazorla and Welbeck walk back into Arsenal XI?

Arsenal are currently in great form in the Premier League, turning things around since their thumping by Liverpool, but is their starting line-up doing enough?

The team is clearly playing very well at the moment, winning six of our last seven matches in all competitions, keeping five clean sheets in the process, but what is more interesting is that the current starting XI is possibly missing some of its better players.

The most obvious absentee at present is Mesut Ozil, whose last outing was against West Brom in August. The playmaker is ranked amongst our top two or three players in any position, but with our side in top form, does he merit automatic inclusion?

Some pundits claim he doesn’t work hard enough for the team, while many describe him as a luxury player, who can only be relied upon when he is playing well. A bad game for the German comes as a burden, but even at his worst he can find a key pass from nowhere which can create a goal, but is it enough?

Danny Welbeck is a player who will be challenging for the same role, and he has proved to be a key player when fit so far this season. The forward frees up plenty of space for his team-mates in attack, and has been a menace to defences, and has argued by pundits as a must-starter when fit.

Santi Cazorla is currently our forgotten man, having missed much of the past two seasons with injury. The Spaniard has clocked up 22 league appearances since the beginning of the 15-16 season, but all of those appearances were starts, and his creativity is something our side has lacked. At 32 years-of-age, and with his lack of match practice you would have to expect him to be used sparingly when he does return, but when fully-fit, would he displace Xhaka or Ramsey?

It will be great if the three could boost our options for the rest of the campaign, but which of them will walk back into the starting line-up when fit?

  1. All of them will be starters again, but I hope Arsenal will finally have guts to drop Ozil and sell him in January. His playing style is simply not suitable for Arsenal’s current system.

If you see how Spain’s attacking midfielders and playmakers played when they were against Albania and Italy, those are the players that Arsenal really need. Thiago, Silva and Isco pressurized and tackled their opponents in many areas in the field, forcing the opponents to make mistakes.

Ozil would need more physical teammates around, to take the pressures off him, like what he has in Germany national football team. Arsenal would need another type of attacking midfielder like Thiago, Silva and Isco.

So I wish Ozil could find a more suitable club to revive his career and Cazorla would return faster to dictate the tempo in the midfield area. Welbeck is also needed to add some physicalities in the front.

  2. We need all our players back, all three has their individual abilities, all three r needed in d team

  3. Cazorla OWNED his position
If he comes back he should be able to slot back in without any problems. He was World Class before he got injured. We have missed that little Maestro (Wilshere, Xhaka, Ramsey, Coquelin, Eleny don’t come close to his class). Even before Cazorla we had another little maestro in Rosicky but we really should have got Goretzka or Seri in the summer imo

    I support Ozil 100%
I back Ozil to find his 19 assists/6 goals form he had in 2014-15

Losing Cazorla hurt his form. They were magic together. Cazorla’s creativity at getting him the ball is missing in our central midfield.

Ozil is a World Cup Champion and if he’s good enough for the Champions he is good enough for us

Selling him in January without a replacement would be madness. If he goes in the summer fine, but we will need to get a replacement. Iwobi, Wilshere are not good enough to start behind Lacazette or CAM

  4. Ozil and Cazorla will, Welbeck wont unless we are not at full strength. Cazorla is the one we miss most, and I’m hoping Ozil will be great for Lacazette. It’d be great if Ozil can showcase why he’s rated so highly with a final ball, if he doesn’t well then good riddance. No excuse for Ozil not shooting up the charts with Lacazette and Alexis making runs.

  5. Cazorla will and Welbeck too.

Ozil has been dropped. Probably played his last game for Arsenal. Well done to the boss on making the call.

  6. Arsenal girl, I miss the little Mozart too. Shirt #7 also happened to be one of my all time favs Robert Pires.
