Wilshere wants talks with new Arsenal manager before signing contract

The never-ending saga of Jack wilshere’s new contract extension at Arsenal has been going on all season and it looks like it is still going to be going on for another while yet. The English man has stated all year that he wanted to stay at the Emirates, but when Wenger first revealed that there was a contract on the table waiting for Jack’s signature the 26 year-old became a bit vague, and when asked directly why he hadn’t put pen to paper he responded that “things had changed” leaving us all speculating on where his future lay.

But now Le Prof has announced his departure at the end of the season, Jack has hinted that he knew beforehand that that would be the case, and he has simply been waiting to find out if he is in the plans of the new manager before he makes up his mind to accept the deal offered by the Gunners.

He reiterated that he doesn’t want to move on, but revealed his dilemma when he told Sky Sports: “We’re still at the same position really – we’re still talking.

“When you don’t know who the manager is, that can obviously change things, but we’re still talking and I’m hopeful we can get something done.

“I haven’t really thought about (leaving). As I’ve said before, this is where I want to be.”

We discussed yesterday afternoon whether Arsenal fans still wanted Jack to stay, but it appears that he wants to find out the new man’s opinion before making his decision.

I wonder what that will be?

    1. Rangnick, they say Rangnick put everything in place at Hoffenheim. He even does the team meetings. He buys the players, fills the youth team, and he even gave the tactics & style that they play. He’s supposed to be a director of football, but it sounded like he was the Wenger of that club only without the camera-time and job title.

I don’t know how much truth is in that, but last week his name came up a fair bit. Klopp & Tuchel both credit him with their own styles of football.

      1. Also read he is the brains behind the Red Bull teams which have done so well in Europe this term emphasising on youth development, an attacking style, and fearless football.

I bet if he was brought in we would see a wholesale of changes from our squad, playing style, and direction of the club. Certainly another Wenger here who prefers hardrock as opposed to the opera classic music.

I would prefer this guy as opposed to the Liverpool assistant being touted around.

        1. All discussions about the new manager would be useless if Lehmann or Mertesacker turn out to be the man in the next season

  1. Jack stayed fit trough the season and that was always bigest concern. He is pretty decent not Santi lvl. Good squad player in my opinion. I think he is making right call as there is big uncertainity who will be the manager and if he have any game time at all. We have so many squad lvl players like Elneny Xhaka in his position already. We really need dm so one of them should go honestly. Elneny just signed new contract, Xhaka is big money signing and Wilshire is Mr. Arsenal not sure who should go haha.

  2. Jack thank you but time for you to move on lad.

We have too many poor CM’s as it is and you are no spring chicken so I would rather we buy an upgrade and promote AMN.

This club should no longer be run like a charity, busy stock pilling average players. Arsenal is a professional football club!

Jack will be okay and may end up at Westham, Bournemouth, Wolves or some other mid table team. If his feeling adventurous even AC Milan or some French team.

  3. hopefully new guys has the guts to tell him he’s not starting material, which might be perfectly okay with Jack. Either way I’d prefer him leave so we have room and wages for better players. He’s been lower midtable quality for most of this season, and the season before that he was just okay for Bournemouth. Needs to go somewhere to start his career over because he’s very irrelevant for a while.

    1. My grandma is passionate about arsenal so can she play too??
Someone just said above “This club should no longer be run like a charity, busy stock pilling average players. Arsenal is a professional football club!”
      We are tired with whilshere.

      1. Exactly. I’m passionate about Arsenal and passionate about England, but I’m not expecting that to provide a basis to get a contract at the Emirates or get a call-up to play in Russia 2018!

    2. Passionate arsenal player… Jack sucks. He kills attack. His as an arsenal player is up.

  4. Despite being relatively injury free this season he hasn’t really delivered much and questions will always remain about the consistency of his performances and his fitness.
I’m not sure the new manager would even want him at the club, especially if they are going to be encouraged to develop or purchase young players.
So yes, Jack may have a conversation with the new manager but with a view to telling Jack to hit the road…

  5. Personally, I don’t think we should start second-guessing the new manager before he arrived.

To me, Jack has undoubted talent. I would not be surprised if a new manager gets a lot out of him. My main concern with him remains his injury record. I guess a new manager would have the team working a lot harder on the pitch which might not help Jack and his injury problems.

I hope that if we get eliminated from the EL that Arsenal will announce who the new manager will be on Friday.

  6. Some of you must be stupid in thinking that we have the luxury to say no to the likes of Wilshere. Self reflection helps.

      1. Every second player at Arsenal is replaceable, doesn’t mean that we need to sell them. Like i said. Self reflection. Wilshere should stay and named captain.

        1. Why not call him captain America. He should be playing in Portsmouth or Tranmere. Not my arsenal.

        2. a player that isnt even good enough to be a starter should be our captain? We’re not going anywhere if we keep rewarding our average players just because fans like them. Wilshere does not pull his weight and does not deserve 100k per week. This is the exact mentality that needs to die.

  7. Can someone please explain how Wilshere shows passion for Arsenal. Getting drunk at the FA cup parade and shouting Spurs and s**** when he didnt even play a part for Arsenal all season? The last player to show passion was a certain little Chilean not JW. Wilshere dont let the door hit you on the way out. No way on Gods earth should we give him a pay rise as I feel hes actually below Xhaka in regards to footall skills and I dont rate Xhaka either. We may need 3 new cm midfielders next season. I feel Ramsey operates better further forward and that leaves us with Xhaka Elneny and AMN. A defensive midfielder is a must maybe Ndidi or Doucoure as they already have premier league experience. Secondly M Meyer as hes very creative and wouldnt mind playing a lesser role in his first season. Finally a big name cm someone who can lead and guide the team I would love for Enrique to bring Busquets to the Emirates but thats just a pipe dream.

    1. Andres Iniesta announced that he’s leaving Barca at the end of the season (Saw it on Sky Sports News or Supersports Blitz, can remember which). My dream would be to have Enrique and Iniesta join Arsenal at the end of the season. That would be awesome.

  8. I want Jack to as a squad player, NOT a starter. Jack is excellent to have on the bench but as a starter we need players of similar quality to Cazorla, Viera, Rosicky.
Actually none of our current central midfielders are of starting quality for a Top 4 team or a team wanting to win the Premier League

If we want to stay a MID TABLE team then Wilshere, Ramsey, Xhaka and Eleny are fine as starters.

None of these players would start for City, United, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool

    1. finally somebody gets it. Some like Elneny and Ramsey may be performing well towards end of season, but they are not players that are good enough to win big trophies. Ramsey maybe, but he would still need a proper manager with proper CDM and actual tactics. Elneny screams squad player, and wilshere has done nothing his Arsenal career. It’s astonishing people see him as a captain, and as a starter. He’s too expensive to keep as a squad player as well so best thing to do is let him go. Most of this Arsenal team needs to be gone within 2-3 years. That’s just reality.

      1. The question remains; if a mid fielder with Wilshire’s statistics for goals and assists and injury record was available on the transfer market, would Arsenal buy him?
With mid fielders like Meyer and Emil
Forsberg (LB Leipzig) available, I don’t think so.

        1. Statistics don’t often say the truth.. compare iniesta and Ozil stat.. goals and assist.. ozil has more goals and assist.. but the world knows who the better player is

  9. There is nothing to talk about with the new manager,Jack…just start packing your bags, enough is enough…

  10. Wilshere has been average at best this season and is unlikely to feature in the England World Cup squad. He should be moved on.AMN can develop into an excellent central midfielder given the chance. He is the future Wilsh ere is the past. The acquisition of a top quality DM has been needed for some time and hopefully this will be addressed by the new Manager .
