Worried Wenger much happier after Arsenal response!

Arsenal looked to be cruising in first gear when 1-0 up over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, but an unlikely turn of events saw the Gunners denied a certain penalty when Olivier Giroud was dragged backwards in the Sunderland box, but just a minute later our opponents were on the counter-attack and got given a penalty of their own when Cech made sure they couldn’t score.

Defoe made no mistake from the spot-kick, and suddenly Sunderland had a new bout of confidence and started attacking an Arsenal team in disarray. At this point Arsene Wenger admitted he thought that we may have lost the game despite our overall superiority. “It was a mental test when we were at 1-1.” Le Prof said. “We missed so many chances, so many opportunities and I was worried we could lose, but we have shown great strength to bounce back.

“In the Premier League at 1-1 you can lose the game but it was how we respond. Do we panic, give up, feel sorry for ourselves? We responded well and in the end it was a comfortable win.

“It was an important result for us. We had six wins, then one draw at home which was disappointing and a second draw or defeat would have been like we had dropped our level.”

But luckily Wenger was inspired and brought on Olivier Giroud, and the rest, as they say, is history! An excellent final score and a boost to our goal difference to put us on top of the League for now. Let us just keep winning and waiting for our rivals to drop points amongst themselves. Happy Days!

  1. With almost all of our players fit & back in the squad I absolutely believe that we can challenge for the title. Giroud scoring for us twice on his comeback & also having Ramsay can only make us stronger. COYG!

  2. I think that Admin should provide for us GOAL prediction button which has 4 goals and above. I am getting carried away with many goals return nowadays. I predict Spuds to be slayed at the altar of sleek quick passes. Ludogorets isn’t a problem to comment on.

  3. Didn’t see the match but big shout out to OX and Gibbs, who both started mid week, impressed then, and started again today and both got assists!

Giroud, 2 beautiful goals. He always performs better when he’s got competition and he’s been benched for someone else.

Few sticks to missed clean sheet, Cech that foul was needless!

Who’s the next victim..? Ludogorets? Bring it on!

    1. Watmore was going to score anyways. New rule is that if you foul in the box with a clear cut chance, you don’t get a red anymore (unless dangerous play of course). So Cech essentially decided to take a gamble on the penalty instead. Inital mistake came from Mustafi misjudging a ball in the air.

  4. We finally have a great 1st and second option after all,
Alexis is flying and proving himself as centre forward,
While olivier G. Proves to a capable option more especially when we need a target man, we can’t ask for a better one.

Gibbs is getting back and better, wow what an all round display by the english man.

Ox needs to be more calm when making final decision, he’s improving though.

Finally, I love what I have seen from RAMBO, he bosses that midfield in his cameo, recorded an assist already.

Giroud came in, Ozil got an assist coincidence???
    #COYG

    1. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Özil got first assist with Giroud because he always takes our corners but before we haven’t had a big guy in the box heading the ball! I mean apart from Koscielny (sure Mustafi but he’s “only” 183 cm!).

  5. I am happy Giroud had a great game
I thought he would be rusty but was marvelous
Alexis, Theo and Giroud (as well as others) can supply us the goals we need to win Trophies

  6. Hahaha…admin you must have smoked something already! how could Giroud be fouled before he even came on?

  7. Where the heck did RKW go, he wouldn’t shut up complaining three quarters of the game but then disappeared the moment the third goal went in. That’s when all the fun started, where did ya go at all man! …back under your bridge I suppose.
