Would Arsenal fans want Gareth Bale as Alexis replacement?

Well we have mostly had sensible Arsenal transfer rumours this summer, compared to most years, but today there has been the most ridiculous one I’ve come across so far. According to reports in Spain, Arsene Wenger made an approach to buy the ex-Tottenham star Gareth Bale from Real Madrid as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez if he decided to leave Arsenal.

A report in the Express said: “….Spanish outlet Don Balon are sensationally reporting Arsenal approached Real Madrid over a deal for Bale earlier in the transfer window.

“It is said they feel he harbours hopes of returning to the Premier League and Wenger thought they could beat United to him.

“However, Bale supposedly rejected a move to the Emirates.

“It is said the offer they put on the table was not to the Wales international’s liking, with Bale also reluctant to move to a team who do not have Champions League football to offer.”

Real Madrid have got the new young Spanish sensation Marcus Ascensio making claims for a first team spot, and of course the European Champions have been linked with a super-mega-bid for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, which is why they are suggesting that Bale may lose his spot in the Madrid starting line-up.

But the Welshman himself has denied any interest in leaving the Spanish capital. He said when asked about the Premier League rumours: “The truth is that I do not read any of that,”

“Logically I am a British player and I am always linked with a return home.

“It happened with Beckham, with other Englishmen who came to Spain. Nothing new.

“I am happy playing in Madrid.”

Standard response I suppose, but I really can’t see any truth that Arsenal would try to sign Bale. Not only is he ex-Spuds, but he is also on massive wages and would cost a lot more than we could expect from selling Alexis!

  1. I wouldn’t take bale as Sanchez replacement due to the fact he has a lot of injuries..Sanchez scorer an important goal while injured for us..Bale I don’t see that happening (and we don’t have the best track record with injures)

I say if we do lose Sanchez (has to be for good money) why not go for Ousmane Dembele he would be the idea replacement

    1. Infumous25 i don’t think we are in the driving seat with Sanchez transfer, i think a deal in principal has been done possibly with City and just waiting for us to find a replacement so the news isn’t so shocking, but i fear our season is doomed unless we sign someone like Bale and one or two others

    2. Yes the injury problem has to be factored in but also the price that would be required to prize him away from Real Madrid. I don’t think Bale would even think of coming to us at the end of the day.

  2. Why not i would welcome him with open arms, Gareth is way better player then Sanchez and he could be the top dog instead of being in the shadow of Ronaldo, isco, and now Mbappe, he already has three CL wins so his not desperate like Sancez but we have no chance because of his soft spot for the spuds and its a huge step down unless we make him an offer he cannot refuse

    1. People will deny the fact that Bale is better. They’ll use stats to defend Sanchez.Yet when both are in form Bale is clearly better. He can do completely everything Sanchez can do and was naturally blessed with more talent.Of course,he’s in Madrid so he’s overshadowed a bit.If he came to Arsenal he’d be a big name and be banging them in.

      1. JUST IN:Monaco vice p. is stalling on the Lemar deal because they are awaiting the arrival of his replacement which is though to be Diakhaby or Gelson Martins. As I reported earlier that one thing preventing the announcement of the deal is the fact that they want to be sure they can replace him.Everything’s falling into placce little by little.
Still no bid made for Seri and Alexis Sanchez has his heart completely set on a move to Man City as PSG drop out of the race for him.

          1. U have no chickens to.count
Infact I would put to u good sir
That ur.not even in the market for a chicken

  3. From a back to back champions league squad to Arsenal.

Okay while we are at it throw in CR7 / Kross / Modric / Asensio / Isco / Ramos / Casmero / Benz / Varane / Zindan / and F. Perez and we can give them Campbell / Debuchy / Jenkinson / Gibbs / Jack / and Ramsey.

    1. Yes Champions League football is a reason but there are many players who have joined teams for lesser.

      1. Plus, he’s already won the UCL a few times, so hopefully playing in it with us isn’t a deciding factor? He’s also won everything in Spain, been in CR7 shadow the whole time, and now with players seemingly threatening to take his starting spot, he may even be tempted by coming to us, his boyhood supported team, linking up with Rambo like they do for Wales. The 11 shirt could also be there for him if Ozil takes 10 (or Bale could take 7? Lol).
I’m not getting my hopes up at all tho loool

  4. Its amazing Pep has spent almost 1 billion dollars on players in his entire managerial career

    Mourinho will be up next..

      1. In out u shake it all about
U do the transfer window an u buy some names
That’s how u win big games

      2. Indeed

Now Pochettino is following Wenger’s footstep

no new signings, selling stars and promoting their youth academy players…

has buildng a new stadium make them gone broke?

        1. i strongly believe there is a buyer for the spuds from USA, Levy is a clever man why would he spend on overpriced average players when he has a good team, spuds only downfall is that they have no depth in the squad and now that they are in CL they could experience injury and fatigue

          1. they were in the CL the season before when they finished third and yet they still finished above us last season with a 2nd place

        2. If poche was like wenger, he would sell kane and dele ali in the last day of the transfer period and would buy unknown replacements on bulgarian league

        3. football is not just about buying and selling players, it’s a business. If spurs have to build a new stadium then they sacrifice funds for building and not buying players. Wenger was never wrong, he was just the one that to all d blame for that period.
Arsenal fans will appreciate Wenger when they see Spurs struggle over the next few seasons.

  5. Both Manchester teams are looking like a tough one to beat this coming season. Judging from the games they played yesterday, they are certainly using the pre-season better than we are. Manchester City in particularly have made noticeable improvements game after game and you can see what they are trying to do in their tactics.

On the other hand we are still buying our players…. I pray we’ll be ready by the start of the season, I really do.

  6. Who doesn’t know Wenger? He has almost wanted to sign every good player on Earth but he only lacks money.Asernal should find someone to provide money for Wenger.

  7. Would I take Bale? In a heartbeat top player who plays with hunger and aggression. He wouldn’t come to us though for the same reason sanchez is leaving. MU are demonstrating they are building and working towards becoming the force they once we’re, can you buying lacazette and kolasinac demonstrates an aggressive intent? I don’t think so.

One great bit of news today though, I love the away kit for this year lol
Both the 3rd kit and the pale blue away kit look smart never liked the mustard yellow and blue kits at all. Comes to someone when I’m getting excited about a strip 🙁

  8. Not a realistic hypothetical. Bale would never come to Arsenal and would also probably be too expensive.

I would take him though because he is a special type of player when fit.

  9. Does anyone really think we’ll sign Seri?
He’s Ivorian isn’t he? African cup of nations is not top of wengers criteria to buy is it.

    1. African cup is being moved to June from 2019. Good news for African players and European coaches.

      1. Yes.
AFCON has been moved to June rather than hitherto traditional January/February.
Also to be held once in 4 years

  10. Somebody previously eluded to what makes me nervous.
MU and city get the majority of their new players in early and start working on tactics and drills. Meaning they are likely to hit the ground running first game.
We seen to drag our heels and work solely on fitness. Then it’s here’s the team sheet and formation go and do your best.
Kind of make up it up as we go along, # game plan?

  11. When you have quality you should acknowledge it – we have Ozil (Quality) and Sanchez (Quality) the mistake along the way is not do enough to distinguish these type of players by offering these players the class they need to play along-side them. Because their agents are capable of finding them business elsewhere.

The thought of G.Bale playing in arsenal’s colours is laughable, not because he’s too good, he aint, but because of whats in his premiership football dna. kindly, put that one back in the box.

  12. Does anybody really believe that Wenger made an approach for Bale, this is one of the dafter stories we’ve had to put up with for a long time. Also, I’m pretty sure Bale would never ever sign for Arsenal.

  13. Why would bale sign lol ?
    He’s spuds through and through
    He’s an amazing talent
    Arsenal don’t have CL
    And don’t have ANY plans
We need to all wake up we are a business nothing more nothing less. If Arsenal cannot make money from something they won’t be interested
The nest two years will be a long drag

    1. He was an Arsenal fan, his whole life.
But so was Kane, it doesn’t seem to mean that much.

  14. He won’t come here
    He played for Spurs
    We aren’t in Champions League

Also Madrid won’t sell him at the moment

Also I doubt Wenger would buy him

  15. Firstly it was Mbappe to Arsenal, and now Bale?!!!! What on earth are people smoking!

It pains me to say this, but Arsenal are no longer a top club. Many concerned fans for years have thought we’d turn into the ‘new Liverpool’, and that’s what has happened. Historically, Arsenal, and Liverpool, along with Man Utd, are the big three of English football, but I’d only count Man Utd as a top club at the moment.

Sheer consistency of winning everything for over decade has to make Chelsea the top club of English football at the moment. Really horrible to say that!

  16. Why would he come to Arsenal anyway?? We never get much past CL group stages, never win the PL and have a 4th place mentality.

Not going to happen, was never going to happen so lets concentrate on realistic targets…please!

  17. Get Lemar and Gorezka/Seri and we are good to go. That’s about 3 meaningful signings we were promised. Is it too much to ask for? I’m tired of these rumors. GB will not play for AFC this season, maybe in future but NOT this season.

  18. Your comment is awaiting moderation.
I don’t believe that Arsene Wenger made that bid or enquiry, with all due respect I will say Wenger right now lacks what it takes to win EPL title, every concerned and genuine Arsenal fan knows that Madrid will not be selling Bale for now, so why wasting time pointing hands on players you know you are not going to buy, how much time did Chelsea spent in acquiring Bakayoko and Morrata, how much did Bakayoko cost, whats this long battle over lemar? Is he buying Riyad or not, must he sell Alexis because one of them maybe on their way to Emirates, what is wrong in having one of them alongside Sanchez? The experience and skill we are enjoying from Sanchez is partly the training he recieved while in Barca, Arda Turan we know is better than Coquelin, Xakka, Eleny and even Ramsey but Wenger would rather prefer them to Turan and Galatsaray are going to benefit from it just as he told Cesc that there is no place for him in Arsenal because of Wilshire, Coquelin & co. I bet you if Wenger brings in either Riyadh or Lemar, bring in both Turan and Carvalho in the next two weeks Sanchez will settle down, but Wenger will not, he wants to sell him because he lacks What it takes to manage Stars it is not all about money. Why is he also finding it difficult selling off the under performers for good price. Compare how much City paid for Sterling, how much Pep paid for Walker and what he is offering for prolific Sanchez. Arsene Wenger need to re – package himself and Arsenal. Please let’s forget about Gareth Bale though he is better but it ain’t gonna happen.

  19. Imagine Bale in Arsenal shirt, with Sanchez, Ozil and Lacazette. Though i don’t see this happening to be honest. But Bale coming to Arsenal could excite Sanchez to stay as well. Bale is far better than both Mahrez and Lemar combined if he stays injury free. If City get Mbappe and Neymar goes to PSG then i see Sanchez staying. That is what i want

  20. isn’t Alexis reporting back for training, big yellow banner across sky sports news.

  21. There is no doubt that Bale needs to get the hell out of Real if he ever wants to be the kind of player he once was…this isn’t to suggest that he his skills have diminished, he simply isn’t the fiery, determined and aggressive player that struck fear in the hearts of his opponents…the small fish in a big pond just doesn’t fit his profile…I can’t even remember the last player I’ve seen who has become so invisible on the big stage(maybe Pogba last year)…maybe it’s a case of culture shock or maybe he wasn’t able to handle the notoriety that invariably came with his big money signing, but regardless of how it happened this guy is a shadow of his former self…although I doubt he would ever come to a team in such disarray, he could quite easily fill the shoes of Sanchez, who ironically was in a similar predicament in Barcelona, as Bale would return to his favoured left side and would be given the same freedoms that have allowed Sanchez to flourish…ultimately I think the cache of wearing a Real jersey and competing for the top trophies would be too difficult to give up for a wannabe club run by suits who care little about those kinds of accolades
