Would Arsenal really pay £25m for this Barcelona star?

With the summer transfer window just around the corner, there has been a lot of transfer rumors in regards to Arsenal. After multiple sources in the English media confirmed that a deal had been confirmed for Schalke star Sead Kolasinac, the latest transfer speculation is that the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is weighing up a move for the Barcelona forward, Arda Turan .

A report from the Daily Express suggests that the North London side are ready to be submit a £25million bid for the Turkish international and the report further claims that Barcelona are likely to accept any such offer. After the Catalan side bowed out of the Champions League quarter-finals for the second consecutive season, a massive squad overhaul is expected at the Nou Camp and Turan is understood to be one of the players who will be more likely to exit the Catalan club.

It is no secret that Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of the Turk for quite some time now and was heavily linked with the player during his time at Atletico Madrid, with many media sources believing Arsenal actually made a bid before eventually losing out to Barcelona. Personally, I wouldn’t mind having him at the Emirates. The 30-year-old is a dynamic attacking midfielder with quick feet and an eye for a killer pass, all traits which will see him settle flawlessly in the Arsenal midfield.

However, I certainly hope the former Atletico man is not being eyed up as a potential replacement for Mesut Ozil. As good as he may be, I don’t see him as someone that can fill the German’s boots. I’d rather have him as an alternative as he is very adept at playing on the flanks as well. While signing a big name like Arda Turan will certainly be great, it would be a move forward if he comes in as a reinforcement rather than a replacement.

But would Arsenal really pay £25m for a 30 year-old?

  1. If Wenger stays, except even more over priced panic buys than ever before to try and win the fans over.

    1. in times like this, we’d need one of those Javiern quotes:
      .
“Mediocrity will always be the norm……”
      .
      LoL

  2. I see him as a replacement for Alexis. Not left wing, but a big name leaving then a bigish name arriving. He’s thirty already so you can’t give him a four year deal, but that is prob what you’d need to offer to get him. I like Turan, and if it was instead of Ozil I’d be very happy about that. One thing about this signing, which might get positive people brimming, is Alexis supposedly wanted Arsene to bring him in last year, could this be a way of saying we are gonna try harder Alexis and that was a good idea you had maybe you’d make an excellent Arsenal manager one day.

    1. don’t wanna see turan any close to the emirates

      .
We should have gotten him in his mid 20’s ……. Arsenal is not a safe deposit box for 30yr olds hoping for the last paychecks of their carreers before booting off to their carribean islands

  3. Arda Turan is a big name in Arsenal Fc.

COYGuns! It’s like you all have forgotten whom we used to be. Let’s not allow the past decade of mediocrity cloud our reasoning.

We have given our best as funs to this great club. We deserve the best cos we are the best.

What special thing has Turan done this season?
Mr. Wenger clearly do not seem to have an eye for quality anymore. Last season, Turan showed some flashes of brilliance, I recur Alexis asking mr. Wenger to sign him but he declined it. Par Met and co persuaded him to sign Welback, his blind British love could not see that this guy is not good enough for Arsenal ( nothing against you Danny, am a fan).
My point, Mr. Wenger has lost the magic Ward he used in assembling the INVINCIBLES.
He has got to go and now is the time!
    God bless us all.

  4. Arsenal may also can Hamsik as well.. He is a classy attacking midfielder and young as well compared to Turan

  5. Stay away from Arda, he is not what we need.

We need a more technical player to replace Carzola, lets try to tempt Madrid in sending Isco this way. If Isco fails lets look around Spain, they usually have midfield magicians there.

Wow, Lacazette is a beast, his direct runs, fearless approach to the game and his finishing is impressive. Grab Isco or Pjanic / Lacazette / a LB / a RB / Monaco’s DM / and CB

Clear out Ramsey / Jack / Debuchy / Campbell / Sanogo / Monreal / Mert / Gabriel / Akpom / Jenkison / I would be tempted to let Ozil leave too and keep Alexis.

    1. Like your list. Isco’s contract runs down 2018 and Zidane will have to convince him to sign da ting when he literally few weeks ago said he requires more playing time.

If Kolasinac is coming to Arsenal, then we can sell Monreal and keep Gibbs as back up (homegrown, he’s alright for the cup games). So that’s LB sorted out.

RB? Get Aurier from PSG! Bellerin’s form has dipped and he needs competition.

Bakayako from Monaco would be great but if he fails, then Naby Keita from RB Salzburg would be perfect. He’s the combination of Kante and Kroos.

But I don’t think any of these will happen.. Maybe Kolasinac.

  6. This guy will is world class and at 31yo hes not ageing and will not lack pace

Pay them what they want and sign him up

    1. Huh…. I bet you wouldn’t even knw why you got a thumbsdown for this!

      .
What a stupid world we live in….

  7. Tott are after another player who dreams of playing for Arsenal. Tolisso, that must be nearly a full line up by now, Tott are after getting extremely smart by identifying players that know there stuff.

  8. We should be looking towards younger dynamic players.
    I favour hovering over Napoli.
Hamsik will never leave though I’d love us to have him. But there are other marvelous players within these sqaud.
Pulisic of dortmund is another I like.
Bernado Silva of Monaco, panic, etc etc.
Young dynamic and explosive we need, turan nice player but too old.
Also did anyone watch anderlecht last night? There’s a few players here worth looking at.
I thought the cb spaic was amazing and his pairing beginning with K also promising.
