Agent of Arsenal target has no idea what is happening with his client

Over the last 48 hours or so it has been reported that Arsenal were looking to hijack Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout proposed move to Napoli and today his agent has added a ton of confusion to the speculation.

The 26-year-old is being touted as a potential successor to Aaron Ramsey, however, it was thought that he was bound for Naples but with no deal actually confirmed it seems that Arsenal has made an eleventh-hour move to sign Veretout themselves.

Now, the player’s agent, Mario Giuffredi, has come out and really thrown a spanner into the works.

‘As far as I know, Fiorentina have not given the all-clear for Veretout to join Napoli,’ Giuffredi told Radio CRC.

‘The problem is they [Fiorentina] don’t currently have a director of sport, so I don’t know who to communicate with.

‘I also have no guarantees that Vincenzo Montella will remain as coach, it’s all up in the air after the club’s takeover [by Rocco Commisso].’

‘There are four or five important clubs who want Veretout, in Italy and abroad,’ he added.

‘I don’t like to name names, but we’ll see what happens and who steps forward to close the deal.

‘Jordan is one of the best in Europe. He has the quantity, quality and much more and he deserves a big club.’

So make of that what you will but reading between the lines one can make the assumption that a deal with Napoli is far from certain and that other clubs have made their move and with all the rumours flying around you can be forgiven for thinking one of those clubs is Arsenal.

At this moment it is pure guesswork and Giuffredi comments have hardly cleared the air but as things stand right now I cannot see any reason why we cannot consider Arsenal as a credible interested party.
