Arsenal’s rising star Michelle Agyemang has been named UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 Young Player of the Tournament, capping off a breakout summer that saw the 18-year-old play a pivotal role in England’s historic Euro title defence.

Super Sub to Star of the Tournament

Agyemang was instrumental throughout the knockout stages, coming off the bench to make a difference when it mattered most. Her first major impact came in the group stage against France, when she was introduced in the 86th minute and immediately brought a new dynamic to the game, helping Keira Walsh grab a late consolation goal in a 2-1 defeat.

But it was in the quarter-final against Sweden where she truly announced herself. With England trailing, Agyemang scored the equaliser to send the tie into penalties, which the Lionesses went on to win 3-2. In the semi-final against Italy, she was the hero again, netting in the 96th minute to rescue England and force extra-time. That vital goal gave Chloe Kelly the platform to win it, sending Sarina Wiegman’s side into the final.

In Sunday’s dramatic final against Spain, Agyemang was introduced in the 71st minute for fellow Gunner Alessia Russo. The match went to penalties after finishing 1-1, and though Beth Mead saw her retaken penalty saved, England prevailed 3-1 in the shootout with Kelly netting the decisive spot kick.

Agyemang’s recognition as the tournament’s best young player was richly deserved. She finished the campaign with two crucial goals and an unforgettable impact on England’s road to glory. She joined a strong Arsenal contingent in the squad, including Beth Mead, Alessia Russo, Leah Williamson, Lotte Wubben-Moy and Chloe Kelly – all of whom picked up their second Euros winners’ medals. For Agyemang, it was her first, along with the individual accolade that confirms her status as one of Europe’s brightest young stars.

On loan to Brighton’s Seagulls last season, it remains to be seen if Agyemang will now return to the Arsenal fold and feature for Arsenal’s first team – after that Euro’s performance one would certainly expect so..

Shouldn’t Arsenal Women have a better system to bring younger Academy players through?

The club’s academy product has now taken her game to a new level, and Arsenal fans will be hoping this is just the beginning.

How far can Agyemang go in an Arsenal shirt?

Let us know what you think of this Young Gun in the comments.

  1. I hope she gets some game time at Arsenal this season and doesn’t get loaned out again. From what she showed at the Euro’s, she looks like she can do a job for us right now.

I only hope that she will stay grounded and not think that she’s arrived and is this big star. She will need to show some degree of patience, but hopefully with all the games that Arsenal will potentially have to play, if she’s not loaned out she should get some playing time with the Arsenal.

Congrats to her on her young player award by the way. 👍🏆

  2. Congratulations Agyemang.
There is no excuse for not getting playing time in our women’s team this season. She’s an intelligent player and will make us better.
We’ve had quality additions to the team and I believe Renee can’t wait to unleash her collection of weapons.

    1. There’s plenty of excuses Jo, would have to disagree with you on that.

She’s is a good player with a very high ceiling, would hate to see that hindered by by staying in Arsenal this season, so one more year on loan in the WSL is best for her, Arsenal and the loaning club.

      These are my reasons:

      1) Better and More Experienced Players
In Russo and Stina, we already have a nice blend of top quality established strikers, both at the highest level. We saw that last season as Russo and Stina came up clutch for us at sundry times in our CL triumph and just recently for their respective national teams in the just concluded Women Euros.

      2. More Game Time and Experience
This will help her hone her skills with regular game time while still preparing her for the next big step in her career for Arsenal the following year at which point I think Arsenal will let Stina leave the club as she’s already 29/30 years old. I doubt she would have gotten the England call up is she had remained in Arsenal, so another loan move at this point will aid both parties.

      3. Bright Future
The future certainly looks bright for not just Mitchell, but for Arsenal. Upon her return, she would be teaming up with other youngsters like Olivia Smith, Rosa Kafaji, Clooney-Cross etc. to continue our perfect title winning blend of experience and youth setting us up for more trophy laden years.

      1. You make very good points @Solwills, and it is a good alternative.
However, I believe Agyemang can stake her claim in the mix of our more experienced players.
It will be a long and tough season as we would like to topple Chelsea off the summit of WSL, successfully defend our UCL title etc….
Therefore, we gonna need her quality.
