Alexis tells Arsenal youngster Nelson that he holds the key to his success

Alexis Sanchez has urged Arsenal wonderkid Reiss Nelson to work hard in order to meet his huge potential.

The 17 year-old is enjoying a limited role in the senior side this season, and is tipped to be the latest star to breakthrough into the senior side on a permanent basis.

He and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have been playing as makeshift wing-backs in the Europa League and League cup this term, while Nelson has been impressing in a much more advanced role within the youth sides.

Nelson has plenty of competition for an attacking role in the senior side, with the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Theo Walcott, Alex Iwobi and Jack Wilshere vying for the two roles behind the striker, but still has some way to go at present.

Sanchez has moved to praise the young England Under-18 international, whilst adding that he himself will have to put in the hard work to meet his potential.

‘Reiss has real talent, but he still has a lot to learn from other players,’ Alexis said.

‘From playing more matches and getting more experience. That’s exactly what the boss is providing for him, so that he can carry on improving as a player.

‘He must train every day and get better every day. It’s all down to him whether or not he wants to end up at the very top of the sport.’

Nelson certainly appears to be level-headed on and off the pitch, and seems to have the right attitude to make it big in the game, but we all know how quickly the young players can get distracted from what is important, and hopefully he can continue to concentrate on his football.

Will Nelson be the next big star to break through from the academy?
