Another good draw with Chelsea, but Arsenal still need to win at home

The Caraboa Cup semifinal at Chelsea gave us our second 0-0 draw of the season with the Blues at Stamford Bridge, but Arsene Wenger has admitted that the job is only half done as Arsenal still have to score more goals than Chelsea in the return leg in two weeks time. The Gunners should be favourites back at the Emirates, and you could double your gambling pot if you take not of the Royal Panda review and make full use of their bonus code. Currently Arsenal are priced at 2.90 to win in 90 minutes but that could change as we get closer to the day…

Arsene Wenger thinks that the draw at the Bridge sets us up nicely, but he doesn’t seem too happy with us not getting any away goals on the day, although they will only count if the aggregate score is still level after extra time in the second leg. “I felt that we performed well, it was a very intense game where we were very well organised and had a great solidarity in the team,” the manager said on

“We are used to scoring of course, so we are a bit frustrated we didn’t score, but overall I think the team performance was very positive and very good.

“We play at home in [the second leg] in a game we want to win. We have to win to qualify for the final, so let’s do the job .

“Overall I believe that it is of course a good opportunity for us to go to Wembley where we want to go, but we know that Chelsea are a dangerous side, so that is why it is important until then that we win our Premier League games and prepare after.”

The two intervening games are “winnable” for us as the first is away at lowly Bournemouth and then a home game against Crystal Palace, who gave us a very tough fight in the away fixture not long ago, and obviously we have a lengthening injury list to contend with…

Hopefully we will have some of those back by the time we face Chelsea again, and with a couple of good wins behind us, we have a good chance to get the result and get yet another visit to Wembley where have an excellent record in our last 10 trips to the Twin Towers.

This is probably our best chance of getting a trophy this season so I hope Wenger goes for a full strength side this time around….

  1. While it was a good result to get a draw in the first leg I can’t understand why people are thinking we are almost in the final because of it. The away leg will suit Chelsea and they will probably be just as happy with the result in the first leg. Our record against the top teams at home is atrocious and it wouldn’t surprise to me see us lose the game at home.

  2. We were outplayed IMO. Not optimistic about the return leg. Good to be lucky for a change since we easily could have lost that game and were second best.

  3. Daily Poll - Will Arsenal regret signing David Luiz?
