Are Arsenal finally set to sign Lacazette?

Reports emerged yesterday claiming that Arsenal would have to fork out a transfer fee of £48 million plus £12 million in add-ons in order to sign the Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and if the latest reports from the Daily Telegraph are to be believed, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is finally ready to splash the cash and land the highly-rated hitman.

Lacazette was once again in red-hot form last season, scoring 28 League goals and finishing second in the Ligue 1 goal-scoring charts. The Frenchman confirmed recently that he would be leaving the Parc Olympique Lyonnais this summer and a lack of Champions would not be a deal-breaker for him, boosting Arsenal’s chances of acquiring his services.

The Arsenal boss, infamous for penny-pinching, refused to pay a transfer fee in the same region for the striker last season but after promising the board to act quickly in this transfer window and the pressure from the fans mounting, it appears the Frenchman will finally buckle and spend big on a player that will certainly be worth the investment.

Personally, I would love to see Lacazette lead the line for Arsenal next season. The 26-year-old has been consistently performing at the highest level for quite some time now and is ready to take the next big step in his career, and I believe he would be a huge asset for Arsenal going forward.

So with that being said, I really hope to see this deal be put to bed as quickly as possible. Considering that the player is in the prime of his career and has proven himself to be a prolific hitman, the price tag is not too inflated anyway. So signing him up quickly and giving him a full pre-season to settle into the team seems like the right approach to take.

    1. I like the thought of Lacazette more than Mbappe.. just cant get my head around 120mn for an 18 year old !! Surely there are better players out there like Lewandowski Higuain who have already proved themselves.. no gaurantee Mbappe would not be a one hit wonder and an expensive one !

Kolasinac is already signed.. if we get Lacazette then who else do we need ? Just eg Gueye as CDM ? Wenger said only 2 or 3 players

That is presuming Sanchez stays.. seems like Ozil defo staying

  1. Arsene Wenger is a genius, and he’s the only man capable of returning the Gunners to their former glory.

    1. If Wenger was a genius he would have signed Lacazette 2 years ago when he was available for £30million . Your as deluded as he is mate

  2. Luakaku is better

His performance against Estonia has proven why hes worth 100m

We missed out on another world class striker

    1. His performance against Estonia? ranked 98 in the world? Wow. Another display of being a flat track bully.

Let’s hope Arsene gets this one over the line. His track record in recent summers hasn’t been great.

    1. He’ll be running out in an Arsenal shirt before its announcement on Arsenal.com ??

    1. New tacktick to make us believe they are trying, if he was after Lacazette why didn’t we get him for the past three seasons when we needed him when AW said he rates him highly and our offers were declined ant that was when we was in the CL and Lacezette was only worth 35M

I cannot believe anything good anymore i hope they prove me wrong in a big way, if we want i believe we can still keep Sanchez by buying top class players to show him and us that Arsenal means business and not by sniffing

        1. How can we lose someone we didn’t go for? AW said before we are fine with goalkeepers and it is nowhere near a priority.

          1. i was just pointing out Gossip is rubbish we were linked with him until this morning by the media, what else is rubbish?

you say AW said…. in AW mind we have a title wining team HE SAID SO so are you saying we don’t need anyone?

i’m just fed up and depressed with mind games

    2. Your tripping ? ? as if that kind of news stays quiet, when even news of Wenger’s private confession to close friend leaked out ?about not being confident of signing Mbappe.

  3. Admin, someone here always gets a lot of thumbs down in every comment, shows how senseless her/ his comments are. may be you should put a summary in each day, for user with most thumbs up and one with most thumbs down.. one of them should be so shameful that he’ll write sensible stuffs next time.. or may be we’ll know she’s / he’s a Spurs Trojan trying to troll true Arsenal fans in here

    1. I thumbed you down, but then seen who you are talking about. Yeah, you’re right, I don’t care who that person supports but at least take a few things serious Ibrahim.

  4. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: I’d love Kylian Mbappe or Alexandre Lacazette at Arsenal. (London Standard)

Sounds like The Ox is staying then?

    1. Cassette? ?? I’m not surprised, do they still even make them? ??

  5. oh wenger..we all know u and arsenal can do this in no time if u want to…lacazette is just want we need upfront..go wenger…what’s d delay..make us happy again..keep sanchez, ozil and the ox…and I think ox can be the cazorla replacement we all are crying for..if not get yacim brahimi from porto

  6. Might aswell use Perez than spend money on Lacazette. Or get rid of some deadwood and get a better striker (if they want to come with no CL that is)

    1. The only way we’ll get a better striker than Lacazette is if we swap Alexis for one, but that defeats the purpose. Or if Arsene finds one that the reporters didn’t. Aubameyang Greizmann Lewndowski and the likes, forget about it. Lacazette is up there among the names we can reach. Icardi Lukaku Dembelle and these sort, this is where we are at, Lacazette is as good a bet as any. That Dembelle lad could be a shout too. Lukaku is overrated/priced, not to say he wont make the step up, just he’s not there yet if you ask me. So who would you want that is so much better than Lacazette. If you were to read Perez stats unbiased, you’d be on his case too.

  7. If Lacazette can score is 28 goals per season for us then it’s £60 million well spent

Would love to see Alexis, Ozil, Theo and Lacazette or even better Alexis,Ozil, Mahrez and Lacazette

But I believe it when I see it on Arsenal.com
    Not before

  8. If true and he comes to Arsenal then would be a great signing.

He would give us something very different to what we have.

    Fingers crossed.

    1. yes just like OG has ever scored 30 goals a season. even when he was the top scorer in France he had 21 goals

  9. Wenger need to show his intent to win by meeting the asking price for Marco Arsenio

    309m!!!

    lets smash the record fee

  10. I’ve a feeling that if we sign Lacazette people will get a little underwhelmed unless he blitzes it. All these years crying out for him, we’ll have huge expectations. He looks good aright, but that league is not the prem with ten or more clubs sitting behind the ball. Still it will be all about the service. Mbappe is the name on everyone’s lips, he looks like he can carry a threat all on his own. Alexis, keeping him is still the most important business for the same reason. We need to get the signings done asap, Alexis we need to sort out.

  11. Lacazette would be a great signing. I have watched him closely they say he scores alot by penalty but off 37 goals last term only 8 where penalties. He is a great finisher and something we don’t have in the current squad an out and out striker. He is good guys trust me and the French league is better than people here are giving credit for. Most off the big deals that have taken place this off season has been players from the French league. Watch and see

  12. Every year, there will be one player who will be linked with us for entire transfer period only to be missed out on last week and then Wenger does some panic buys like Perez.
This season that player is Lacazatte
