Are Arsenal going for another brilliant free-agent for our left wing?

Most Arsenal fans are very sure that we need at least one more signing after Lucas Torreira arrives as our defensive midfielder, and that is a true out-and-out left winger to supply some accurate crosses to our super-strikers, so why not go for a proven Brazilian?

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Bernard has been in the Ukraine for the last five years, but he has recently become a free agent and there is little or no publicity about where he will be moving to or who his next club is going to be, so why shouldn’t it be Arsenal?

In January, he was free to talk to clubs outside the Ukraine, and he told reporters: “There is interest from European clubs, many things are appearing. That is why I have to have my head in the right place, be calm and know and choose the best [option],” he told Lance! “The most important thing for me is to continue dedicated to what I do.

“Who knows whether it’s in Shakhtar, returning to Brazil or going to another team in Europe. We will only know more in the future and I hope it’s the best for me and for the place I end up playing at. Negotiations are very confidential and there cannot be any mistakes. At this time, I cannot say which clubs want me and what the final outcome will be.”

I am sure him and his agent are simply looking for the best deal, as the 25 year-old said himself: …”We have to sit down and analyse everything. I’m 25, it could be the contract of my life, of my career. Generally the contracts are of four or five years. By then I will be 29 or 30 and that is mainly why I need to give it a good think.”

So it could be a match made in heaven. Arsenal are one of the richest clubs in the world and, without a transfer fee, can offer enormous wages. Surely we should be in with a chance?

  1. Don’t know anything about him. Just looked at wiki. He is 25. He has pace and energy. Just scores a handful of goals a season.
I don’t know if he would be an improvement over Welbeck on the left.
But as a free agent, hes certainly worth signing

    1. Bernard would replace wilshere in my eyes bcoz he ain’t a natural wide player he’s a number 10 but iv iv always liked him bcoz he scores long shots, free kicks and plays like a typical no 10 should but he could defo play in a 3 man midfield but I don’t see us etting him bcoz we are only gonna get 2 more players maximum
      Golovin replacement for wilshere
      Yerry Mina replacement for Mustafi
      Lozano replacement for Alexis

      Dream transfer window

  2. Based on his YouTube videos, he is not as fast as Mbappe, Dembele, Traore, Salah, Lozano, etc. His playing style looks similar to Shaqiri, but on the left side

He is free, but Arsenal have to get an explosive left-footed winger, because they just have Lucas Perez and he was not impressive when playing as an RW

Maybe Emery can make Perez, Mkhitaryan and Nelson compete for the right wing position

    1. Friendly question, just would like to know, why are you always asking for a left footed right winger?

      1. Ozil plays on right and is left footed! And I’m sure Perez is left footed and can play on both wings so we ain’t desperate for a left footer, we’re just desperate for a player like Alexis with his pace, passion and ability!

        1. Explain? what type of player? why left footed on the right wing? I suspect your answer will be so he can cut inside and shoot but any ‘footed’ player can do that. As far as I’m concerned a wingers prime objective is to get to the byline and get crosses into the box. Cutting in and shooting is an added bonus.

    2. Due to your comments on every article, you are not as knowledgeable at football as you think your are. If you don’t put down every winger into right footed left winger or left footed right winger, they are either too short or lack pace . You are entitle to your opinion or view but this itk sh**t is getting on my nerves. I’m sorry i take it too personal because if the player is not what you want you find away to put him down with your usual gibberish. If you know so much about what players need to have to be quality why are you not a coach, scout, agent or own a football club.

  3. I would love It if Bernard joined the team.

    **** dream signing

  4. France is the team to beat.. I’ve said it before z and the only team that could stop them is Brazil.
I’m sorry England, even you won’t be a match for France I keep echoing it

    1. You were right about this match Eddie ?
I do think Uruguay are missing Cavani big time!

What’s with Mbappe & the theatrics????

      1. Sue it’s only a matter of time, remember I told you they’re the most complete team in this WC? Mbappe will turn up when he’s needed, Giroud will turn up when he’s needed, Griezmann will turn up also. Let’s not even go to their mid fielders yet.
Any team going for the WC needs to avoid France. it’s clear that losing out in the last Euro Cup got to them a lot.
Now I wish our team can be like this and always turn up when it matters

      2. Hes channeling is inner Neymar it seems.

Pavard has been unbelievable for Les Bleus in
this WC, an incredible talent that can play anywherealong the back line. I would sell
both Bellerin and Mustafi yesterday and offerStutgart stupid money for him.

Torreria has been impressive, tireless worker
that will quickly become an Emirates favorite
        IF he signs cor Arsenal.

      3. Look on the bright side?? Torreira shouldn’t bother taking the team’s flight home, his next flight should be straight to London?

        1. Kante seemed to intercepted more threats and looked more mobile/ hardworking than Torreira, maybe because France played better than Uruguay?

Kante was one of the candidates for the man of the match. Chelsea and Leicester City were lucky to have him

I agree with one of the posts before this, Uruguay really missed Cavani. If both Suarez and Cavani were fit, I believe the result could be different, at least a draw

          1. Well Kante is obviously better. And Torreira sits back much more than Kante does in this role. Apparently at Sampdoria he has a bit more freedom, but Uruguay are mainly a defensive unit and focus on maintaining a shape, unlike France.

            1. Torreira at 22 is much, much better than Kante at 22.

In fact when Kante arrived, he was 24. So age is on Torreiras side.

              1. very true. Torreira could end up being just as good or better. But Kante right now is best ball winning midfielder in the sport I’d say.

          2. I guess you haven’t watched Torreira closely before, that guy is good, stop comparing him to Kante, he is simply unique.

          3. Not true at all , Torreira was better than Kante in this match , just read the statistics , i didn’t know about Torreira before world cup but after analyzing his games in the world cup , i’m pretty sure he is gonna upgrade our midfield.

    2. I’m glad Uruguay are on their way now, I wish France wins the world cup for the sake of Giroud.

  5. Instead of buying Gomez the club must go for Seri to replace Wilshire , sell Mustafi and sign Soyuncu than add N’zonzi and again sign Martins to replace Sanchez!!!!!!!

  6. Torreira is good but Torreira lacks to stamina…. That’s the only thing he needs to work on

  7. Torriera and N’golo Kante pretty much has the same stats in-game. The football Gods have decided we shouldn’t miss out on the Uruguayan N’golo Kante lol

  8. Ornstein saying Torreira deal is imminent, and that is our last 1st team signing and we’re only looking for a future young player now. I hope that young player is a winger. Please get a winger in Arsenal. Hopefully Torreira will be official by midweek. Excited to see him revealed

    1. If we dont get a winger though I assume Perez is staying. And I guess Nelson and Nketiah will get more playing time. And I would like to see a new youth product come through, so not all bad if we don’t get a winger.

  9. Torreira stats Vs France. 2 chances created (both from set pieces ) 33/45 passes completed, 8/16 final third passes, 13 recoveries, 4/5 successful tackles and 4 interceptions

  10. He is a nature No 10 player with skills in taking free kicks and scoring from long distances. He could be a very good signing for us.

  11. From what I’ve seen of Torriera, he is actually a deep lying playmaker who loves to tackle. He is also very decent on set pieces too. Took most of them for Uruguay.
He is actually Cazorla’s replacement. He’ll be partnered with Xhaka in midfield for most matches and with Elneny for matches where a more defensive approach is needed.
