Are Arsenal going to “run riot” over West Ham?

I always like to keep an eye out for Paul Merson’s predictions regarding Arsenal, as I am so used to seeing him criticizing his old club. He gave us no chance in our opening two games (I guess you could say he was right) but this week for a change he is predicting a very easy win for the Gunners.

Merson said on SkySports: “I don’t see anything other than an Arsenal win here. West Ham have struggled, and I don’t see anything different from them compared to last year.

“I can’t get over Cheikhou Kouyate leaving for Crystal Palace for that kind of money, he’s the only one who had any legs in midfield, and I think Arsenal will run riot.

“Let’s be honest, if Arsenal had put the chances away against Chelsea – and it’s easy to say: “Oh that’s a half chance” – but they had five unbelievable chances at Stamford Bridge. If they put those away, they come away from the Bridge scoring seven, and everyone would be saying: “Wow”.”

Is this really Paul Merson? If he really has changed his tune this much it can only mean that he had a personal vendetta against Arsene Wenger as he constantly criticised our old boss and his Arsenal team. It would be nice for one of our old boys to actually say nice things about the club for a change!

Well, I for one hope he is right, and we “run riot” over Jack Wilshere and his new mates.

    1. That will be great, But I would also take a 1-0. A clean sheet and hard work will be my main areas i will be paying attention to.

I want the team to improve and keep the focus, even though its West Ham, i want us to play hard every game. No matter who the opposition is.

Our fitness should also be must better this week, by game week 10, out players should be use to the tactics and pace.

      We are the Arsenal.

          1. I’m sure you will enjoy the game.We have shown a good attitude in the first two games and we WILL win tomorrow.A clean sheet is a must for us though. We need a confidence boost at the back.

            1. Cheers Phil ? yes we’re in need of that confidence boost, plus a good win will be good for Emery too. Just wondering if Wilshere & Perez will come back to haunt us!

              1. Sue, how about you and Phil hold up “I’m Sue” and “I’m Phil”sign so we can put a face to the name.

  1. Defensively we were quite poor against Chelsea in the first half. But at the same time offensively we were quite brilliant. Merse is right, had we converted all our chances the game would have been over in the first half.
Aubameyang(twice), Mkhi,Iwobi and Ozil all missed absolute sitters from less than 10 yards.
Based on those chances we created I expect us to absolutely drub West Ham..It could even end up in a tennis like score.

    1. Aubameyang has to fully concentrate this time, because Mkhitaryan, Iwobi and Bellerin gave him great services at the Stamford Bridge. I believe they would excel again in attacking West Ham

But I think Pellegrini would set up a counter-attack strategy, therefore Arsenal would have difficulties in entering West Ham defense area, due to lack of tricky wingers

If Arnautovic plays behind Chicarito again, I hope Torreira or Xhaka can handle this guy, because he is quick and tall

  2. Lacazette
    Iwobi. Mkhitaryan. Aubameyang
    Torreira. Guendozi

    Nacho. Sokratis. Mustafi. Leich
    Leno

Its a home game with a struggling West Ham, perfect time for Leno to make his debut.

  3. Stop this hype please. We are not playing a Pub team.We certainly must dig deep to win.A clean sheet would be great also.

    1. At last some one who doesn’t believe that West Ham will roll over.
They have as much to prove as Arsenal do.
      No match is easy anymore…

      1. ??Pelligrini is no mug, West Ham will be desparate, plus there are two ex Arsenal players with points to prove.

  4. I feel everything that Unai is trying to do is going to work tomorrow. Hopefully I don’t bok the side, but I’m going for a 3-0 win

  5. I would not be so confident as we havent been going on a run yet to go on rampage on other teams. First we need to build our selfs up and make our selfs ready then we can expect better results. For me one goal up will be good enough we need only to win. Gflife

    1. Kenny and ks-gunner, as they say in show business, hopefully it all comes together on Saturday at the Emirates.

  6. I think we will scrape home but given the calibre of our centre backs i cannot see us keeping a clean sheet.

  7. If Emery cannot beat West Ham with any formation, he should resign.

The fire power assembled by Wenger is top four. All Emery has to do is get out of the way of Czech who will organize the defense and dictate the supply of the ball to the forwards.

Czech is senior keeper. He has immense experience. Undermining him as Emery has done is unforgivable.

If we lose this game at home, Emery out.

  8. JJPawn, granted the game against West Ham is at the Emirates; however where were you when the previous manager couldn’t conjure an away win in 2018 until the last game against Huddersfield?
