Are his Arsenal team-mates failing Lacazette?

The French striker is now said to be in need of better service from his Arsenal counterparts, with goalkeeper Petr Cech insisting his movement is not always utilised by the players in behind him.

Cech said: “Alex is a very intelligent player.

“The way he plays, obviously, he has adapted quickly to the way we play. I think we, as a team, we need to get more out of him because sometimes he makes a very good movement but the ball does not arrive every time at the right moment.

“I think it’s a matter of time [before we see his best]. But for a player who has just come to the Premier League, he’s had a pretty good run.

“He has immense quality in front of goal. If you see his ratio from how many shots he actually takes, it’s just a matter of time before more goals will come.”

Will the understanding between the players improve naturally or are the players in behind simply need to be more aware of their surroundings?

  1. Cech could be right but one has to also consider the teams we have played recently. Southampton; Westham, even Newcastle sat deep and are not willing to attack thus limiting his impact.

Liverpool will be a different ball game and I expect him to be more influential.

  2. So, what is lacazette abilities.
He have speed, technic, dribbling, accuracy, and first touch.
Had y see lacazette running dribbling behind enemy?
We have pacey striker on lacazette, but wenger formation is more suitable for a target man striker ala giroud. Since what we see is back pass, side pass all the game time.
Lacazette is similiar with aguero and jesus, imagine lacazette playing for man city.

    1. You are correct. Wenger and his staffs cannot maximize their players’ unique abilities.

I predicted that Lacazette would need a longer time to adapt at Arsenal, due to his short stature and Arsenal’s system. His struggle lately has shown the effect, that was why I thought a taller forward like Morata, Aubameyang, Draxler, Cavani, Lukaku and Schick would be more suitable for Arsenal’s system.

In YouTube, I saw Lacazatte’s amazing dribbles and penetrations in the opponent’s defense area, but I have never seen him play in a real match. Like what you said, he could be more dangerous in Real Madrid’s, Barcelona’s and Guardiola’s systems. I think Jesus and Aguero would also suffer if forced to play under Arsenal system.

  3. The way we play is clearly limiting the impact of Lacazzete. All the back pass, side pass and holding on to ball unnecessary until losing the ball do allow us to see what he can do. It has everything to do with the system employed by the coach first and second his teammates. Alexis most especially.

  4. Typical isn’t it for arsene wenger to panic buy not thinking if the player is suitable for arsenal style of play under wenger, that’s why we need a director of football who at least can inform wenger of the pros and cons of a gifted player like laccazete and either get more supportive players to get the maximum benefit of laccazete

  5. Mostly Wenger coaching – look at how many crosses Giroud gets to attack in a game being his strength. Laca suffers same treatment as players are not trying to find him quick enough and as a consequence he starts drifting wide and into midfield picking up balls….

Yesterday we were crying out for crosses to break things up and get people up on the feet as well as put some pressure on West Hams defenders…no such thing! Actually Walcott tried a couple of times only that crosses ended up in the stands.

Hopefully all payers will be up for it on Friday despite Wenger coaching;)

  6. Laca will get his goals in the open games. 8 so far isn’t bad. BIG BIG match this weekend.

CONGRATS Tomas Rosicky. Enjoy your retirement. AFC LEGEND
