Pretty sure they want 85m plus so not sure why we are going in with 70m.
I’m a fan but for that price because of his age it doesn’t quite add up .
I would be looking at the players Brighton ,Newcastle and the likes are bringing in for half the price .

Exactly my point. Newcastle, Brighton, Bournemouth and so on will scout and get players for 20/30m pound, after a season or two, Arsenal will go after the same players for upwards of 70m. They can as well let go of all the scouting team so that smaller teams can do the scouting for them. Arsenal’s scouting team has been useless for sometimes now, otherwise, why would they be considering placing anything above 45m on a certain Bruno who’s 29 this year? I hope they are all smokes that would never turn to fire anyway.

I hear all the concerns about Bruno being expensive given his age. But if we do end up biting the bullet and paying more than might seem reasonable for him, it will be because we are serious about winning the league again and attempting the CL again this season and the following. Not everything has to be about long term squad or value building, sometimes it’s pure short term ROI – just winning things. Meaning that as with Rice, spending on a few expensive players may just be what we need to do to compete in all competitions. Alex Scott would also be a great buy, better for long term ROI obviously, but by all accounts he wants a role where he is first choice, every week, and we can’t offer that.
For the LW, we’ve made a mid price purchase for a young and talented winger with great numbers and potential. So that’s done. The next purchase there will be an elite level player that may well cost 100m+ – Alvarez, Barcola or perhaps Diomande.
Guimaraes is a quality player and undoubtedly Premier-League proven. People mention his age but he’s 28 not 38. Today’s footballers are proper professional athletes and at 28 you would expect another 5 years at that level should be possible, barring injuries. Arsenal are the Champions and don’t need to restrict their business to “Up & coming” players nowadays! They can get the ready-made thing if that’s the right-looking jigsaw piece. Might cost a few quid of course, but that’s how it goes. Nobody cares how much Declan Rice cost now.

Means nothing agreeing personal terms with him if Newcastle stick to their valuation and we don’t match what they want. If he’s the player Arteta has identified as the one he really wants is it worth losing him for the sake of 10 million.
Correct, we have agreed personal terms with many players, through intermediaries and agents and we didn’t sign. Means nothing, except we know what they want to earn.
I suspect the move to be a smokescreen to get bigger and better signing.
Some Clubs like to spy and hijack arsenal targets, or spoil business for us. It happened with mudrik, and we got a bargain and better one in Trossard.
Another one is Moses Caicedo. and we got Rice, Rice, Baby. Both The Club AFC and Players in question are Happy after the Unions. While one of the other players lives with regret, the other one still is still carrying the hates to the new season. Because kicking opponents off the park to earn straight red cards (I believe) was caused by disappointment of not getting in the Team AFC.
