Arsenal remain keen to see the best from Viktor Gyokeres and have not given up on the striker they spent heavily to sign in the summer of 2025.
However, Kai Havertz has displaced him since the start of the season and now appears to be Arsenal’s preferred option in attack. The German also seems better suited to the club’s system, leaving Gyokeres with limited opportunities to establish himself.
During the international break, Gyokeres has demonstrated that he is a superb striker capable of scoring consistently in the right system. Arsenal may therefore need to make adjustments to help him perform at his best.
With Havertz injured, Gyokeres could receive an extended run in the team. Nevertheless, Arsenal have not closed the door on allowing him to leave during the next transfer window.
Arsenal Set Asking Price
The Gunners believe Gyokeres is one of the leading players whose qualities have not been fully suited to their approach. If a suitable offer arrives, they could allow the striker to leave despite the significant investment made to sign him.
According to Team Talk, Arsenal would sanction Gyokeres’ departure if a club offered as much as £60 million. That fee would allow the Gunners to recover the money they spent on his transfer.
Arsenal’s willingness to consider a sale creates uncertainty over Gyokeres’ future. The club may still hope that he can adapt, but they appear prepared to listen if their valuation is met.

Gyokeres Should Stay
On current form, it is unlikely that another club would pay £60 million for Gyokeres. His performances for Sweden have highlighted his ability, but he has not yet shown the same level of consistency for Arsenal.
That makes this an unsuitable time for the striker to leave. Gyokeres would benefit from remaining in north London and taking advantage of the opportunities created by Havertz’s injury.
If he can produce a sustained run of strong performances, Arsenal may reconsider their position. For now, the striker must focus on proving that he can succeed within the Gunners’ system rather than pursuing a move away from the club.

Odd how we finally get a finisher for a striker, win the league finally, and yet seemingly unsatisfied with the performances?
Havertz is not the one to lead the line for Arsenal; tried it before and it was not enough; hence the reason to go for a finisher as a striker.
Arteta can have his preference, but going by production, Gyokeres did better in his first year here, than Havertz has done in any single year since joining.
Probably best for Gyokeres if he is sold; I think people forgot how we always came up short with Jesus or Havertz (facilitators) leading the line rather than finishers.
Correct.
I think Arsenal would sell Gyokores for a certain fee but truth is that goes for any player. If the price is right, any player can be sold. Haverz displacing Gyokores, is a poor statement? He hasn’t replaced him. He has stuttered and stalled and missed sitters? How is tha displacing? His position isn’t/shouldn’t be safe. Haverz has never scored as many goals in a season as Gyokores has, in the prem or any league. We have never won the league with him as number 9. But we have with Gyokores. Now Gyokores does look out of sorts but is that because he knows he isn’t really trusted/wanted?. Or is it we are playing for Haverz and not Gyokores? I do not like the term scapegoat because, it is used to defend under performing players, to defend them. BUT Gyokores is being scapegoated, when he hasn’t really been given a chance this season. If he isn’t good enough, he isn’t good enough but surely winning the league with him leading the line, gives him more of a bit of breathing space? Than just righting him off. I personally think we need him and we need him performing, not being back up to an unreliable finisher in Haverz. I see a role for Haverz and I see a role for Gyokores but we can not totally rely on either or. BOTH have to be better and the team needs to be better playing with Gyokores, to get his best. They are the two strikers Arsenal have chosen for this season.
I am supremely in concert with the views expressed in favour of Gyokores’ superiority over and above Havertz. By performance it borders on ridiculousness to compare the two. It is unfair and unfortunate the way Gyokores has not been given his fair due. It is trite truth a reasonable chance has not come his way to settle down and give his best.
If you want goals, then play Gyok
442 worked for Wenger maybe Arteta should try it.
Miss firing it says in the piece. How can he be miss firing from the bench. Even the great Henry would struggle to score from there.
I wouldn’t underestimate Thierry 🤣
Bruised Banana,
Anymore of that and I’ll have to bench you. 🤣😉
Those benches look awfully cushy nowadays. The only way I would score from there is if Raya was too far out of his goal again. Henry would score in the top corner and Viktor would lose possession because there were other players nearby on the bench.
He could always wait for others to go and warm up. 😂
Wait for another 5 new defenders to join the bench, yes
