Arsenal and Real Madrid high profile swap deal being touted

Real Madrid considers swap deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

It is being reported that Real Madrid is looking to swap James Rodriguez for Arsenal’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Real are not having the best of seasons despite splashing the cash in the summer on the likes of Luka Jovic and Eden Hazard. Goals have been scarce, thus the speculation in the press.

Aubameyang has been been on fire this season but he has yet to sign a contract extension. A move certainly cannot be ruled out. The Gabon international has netted 50 times for Arsenal and won the Premier League’s golden boot last season.

Auba would still not come cheap, especially in the January transfer window and apparently the Spanish giants are considering offering James Rodriguez in some sort of swap deal.

Rodriguez has never really made the breakthrough at Real and has just returned from a loan spell at Bayern Munich. He is not what you would class as a Zinedine Zidane favourite and while ever the French legend remains as manager it is unlikely that the Colombian will feature prominently.

From Real Madrid’s perspective, it would be a strange one. Signing a 30-year-old with no future resale value and entering his final years at the top is fraught with risk. From Arsenal’s point of view, it would be a huge step to offload their best asset.

That said, if Aubameyang refuses to agree on a new contract then it is highly likely that Arsenal will sell him.

  1. James doesn’t seem suited for premier league. Auba already adapts well in Arsenal. James would not. bring the kind of goals that is needed for Arsenal to win games. It’s no brainer Auba going no where except he refuses to sign new contracts.

  2. Nah!. No wonder he’s now made the captain(Auba).. Talk more of handling him over with Casemiro” in return is a fair one, but I don’t see it happening cuz Casemiro is a big asset to them despite his age but, with James Rodriguez nope!..

  3. Agree with you Tony; Casemiro swap would work.

Otherwise, no swap just £60 million and they can keep James, he’s a busted flush.

  4. WTF are you people crazy,Real bought jovic for 55 mil pounds this is prime tuna not some sort of stale cod Auba will not be replaced easily so 60 mil will give them his left boot we are closer to 90 mil if they want to sign him and dont incorporate James or Ceballos money straight up.

  5. dont know why auba was made captain when he’s likely out the door… hard to see him signing a new contract.

  6. Aubameyang is a club man, Rodriguez already said that he wouldn’t go to Arsenal. Auba is the only one pulling his weight right now, if we do manage to get back into this race and reclaim top four then Auba will be a no1 reason for that. It’s amazing how we have a striker who rivals the best scorers in the league and has better stats than some of them, with how things are right now, it’s great to have a player that can do the business with or without confidence. He has the armband as of now so this probably tells you a little about this swap deal, doesn’t sound like the Arsenal board are aware of it. Auba’s dad is probably hoping it’s true that Real want him.

  7. Auba is irreplaceable and Arsenal should not sell him at any cost and hope he signs a new deal asap. He is the primary reason that inspite of our shortcomings we are still fifth.

  8. I don’t want Auba to leave, but if things carry on the way they are, it’s only a matter of time before he wants out. We’ve seen it all before…..
