Arsenal and Tottenham set to be offered classy forward at a discount

The net for a winger is sure being cast wide with another wide man added to the growing Arsenal shopping list.

According to reports today Arsenal is battling it out with our bitter North London rivals Tottenham for the signature of Barcelona winger Malcolm.

Apparently, Barcelona are set to offer the 22-year-old to both clubs at a discount, though what the fee is, has not been mentioned.

It should be noted that the young Brazilian would actually prefer a move to Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund but Barca believe they will get more money from an English team, Seems they are the only people in the world that have no idea how small Arsenal’s transfer budget is.

To be honest, this whole rumour is a bit complicated, it seems that Malcolm will be sold in the event that the Spanish Champions take Neymar back to the Nou Camp.

They will need to raise funds because the Brazilian superstar will cost them a huge amount of money but there is also the rules on non-EU players and yes, you guessed it, buying Neymar means they would have to offload his compatriot to comply with those rules.

The best part though is that the report claims that Malcolm would be a great player to bring off the subs bench for both Arsenal and Tottenham.

Malcolm is no bench warmer, he cost Barcelona a whopping £37 Million last year and would certainly fit right in at the Emirates.

If he is being offered at a discount then it would make sense for Arsenal to be interested, he is a classy individual and better than some of the wingers we have been linked with.

I am not even sure it would depend on Neymar being acquired, Barcelona will be spending big on someone this summer that is almost certain and so they will definitely need to raise funds and Malcolm is not what you would regard as a first team regular having played just 24 times last season.

I actually believe this one is worth keeping an eye on.

  1. We DEFINITELY need a Quality Winger. We lack quality both out Wide and in the centre

    But won’t come cheap

  2. Zahara talk is paper talk.
Malcolm’s current worth is based more on his age then his output as he played little. Barca gave him enough games to keep him attractive for sale or keep. Unfortunately or fortunately for them, it looks to be to sell.
Claude Marice talk is officially dead for now it seems.
    Nkuku talk is whispers.

Malcom is worth imo 25m because he is 22yrs old and has a year with barca players like messi and saurez rakatic…

If arsenal are spending tierney 20m Saliba 30m then already we are over our apparent budget. Are arsenal expecting to sell someone we dont know?

  3. Malcom at £25-35 million is a “no brainer” compared to Zaha at £80+ million!
Would be a great acquisition at Arsenal.

    1. Yes Oz – especially if he could make the same impact as Alexis Sanchez, also from Barcelona of course.
Problem is we get so many of these ‘reports’ I can’t take them seriously.

  4. Malcolm ,no thanks , again would be another cheap option from the board .
Zaha or nothing for me ,proven quality and quality does not come cheap . Why do
I feel we have been here before ,de ja vue
I very summer is the same

    1. Dan, what do you think Zaha can bring to our team if he can’t even into Ivory Coast team. With all his energy and whatever he brings, do you know who’s benching him? A 22 year old Maxwell Cornet. I know you don’t rate Iwobi but is he really far better than him. He looks good in CP because that is his level. Put him in team that challenge or want to challenge for top honours he will be found wanting. Compare him with Sane or Sterling or Mane, those are the kind of upgrade we should be looking at. Look at Starling contribution before he left Liverpool at 27 is Zaha even close to that.

      1. Mobella, you just have to look at Wilfred Zaha’s output in goals and assists to see that he is overpriced. Even though Malcolm had a relatively poor season at Barcelona, his form in previous seasons particularly in France was outstanding and he is still young.

        1. I’m not sure how you can compare stats between 2 players one who was playing mid division football and one who was on the bench for a top team
I also thought Zaha stats were pretty bloody good last season unless I’ve read that wrong

          1. Dan kit, check Zaha’s stats for goals and assists against Fraser’s (both in the EPL) or Malcolm in his last season in French League 1 and it is obvious that Fraser is better value and has less “ego baggage.” Malcolm is also better value for money than Zaha, in my opinion. Arsenal were interested in him before, but he only had eyes for Barcelona.

  5. But why the disparity? Barca inserted a £20million buyback clause on Suares when they loaned him to arsenal and just sold same suares to Celta vigo for a paltry €13million?
