Arsenal are 9th – Man United 12th – Who is in crisis?

Arsenal picked up their first three points after beating West Ham this weekend, but we did have the hardest start of any Premiership side with games against Man City and Chelsea. Man United, on the other hand, lost to lowly Brighton a week ago, and then Spurs inflicted Mourinho’s worst ever home defeat last night to leave them 3 places below Arsenal in the League.

Mourinho was at his arrogant best after the game, and walked out of the press conference after shouting Respect Respect Respect! The Portugese coach started by saying that United was the best team and didn’t deserve to lose and then then said he would only accept the judgement of the supporters. “But don’t lose your time. Today I had proof that the best judge in football are the supporters. They are the best judge.”

A Journalist immediately retorted: “But many of the supporters walked out!”

And this is how Mourinho replied: “I would do the same losing 3-0, taking two hours from here to the centre of Manchester. It is where I live and I know that after matches it takes two hours, I would do the same.

“We lost last season here against Sevilla and were booed because we deserved it, because we were not good. We were not dangerous enough, because Sevilla deserved to win the match.

“Today the players left the pitch after losing at home and were applauded because they deserved it.

“So, keep trying and trying and trying. And keep trying. Just to finish, do you know what was the result? 3-0.

“What this means? [Holds three fingers up] 3-0 – but also means three Premier Leagues and I won more Premier Leagues alone than the other 19 managers together.”

And walked out…

As a reader pointed out, Wenger also won three Premier League titles, but Mourinho branded him as an ‘expert in failure’.

The fact is that Mourinho has spent absolute fortunes in his two years at Old Trafford, and his two most expensive signings, Pogba and Sanchez, are playing like amateurs and he is still demanding more signings from the United Board. He may as well demand the board to sack him, because that is how he is acting right now. Mourinho’s luck has now run out and it is United who are in crisis. Arsenal, on the other hand, are on the rise and will be flying up the table in the coming weeks….

  1. Moany Moureen is past it.

In his day he was one of the best managers in the world, pioneering the use of a DMF and enjoying exceptional success. But things have moved on and nowadays there are better managers around. I doubt that he’ll last the whole season, and think (As I said before the beginning of the season) that Man U will struggle and probably finish 6th.

That press conference was hilarious and I really enjoyed watching it!

  2. Who cares about Man U? Nothing to do with us. We are in a bit of a crisis, call it transition, whatever? Yeah spuds thrashed them but would we? I doubt it at present.

    1. Declan,

It is hard not to mock Mourinho whenever he suffers, it is a joy to watch when he does and he brought it upon himself with his utterly childish, proud and embarrasing comments on all matters.
I cant even say it all
But that does not take away the fact that he is a proven winner.

As for Arsenal being in crisis, you could be right because apparently Man U has still not gotten it right since the departure of Fergusson despite spending a lot of money which we cannot afford to do.
Spurs are really improving and we should look towards that direction for motivation as they have been spending wisely in recent seasons while also getting better and better
Arsenal have a really long way to go in our transition and we havent even started yet, i just hope Emery has all the needed support from the board and fans so as to make his mark on this team, assembling his group of players dedicated and loyal to his philosophy just as Pochetino has done with Spurs but PATIENCE IS THE SACRIFICE!

      1. Goonerboy, Mourinho WAS a proven winner, NOT IS! HIs first two of his three titles won were in ancient history, just like Wengers too. All he seems able to do THESE DAYS, is fall out with his players, his bosses and his fans. GOOD!

  3. We should be focusing on Arsenal because us also have our own performance problem at our hands to deal with. So, let’s leave Man Utd alone to sort out their own problem which for now doesn’t concern nor affect Arsenal. We can talk about Man Utd when we are to play against them in any of the 3 domestic competitions this season. And when Arsenal are battling them for a better position in the table.

  4. Wish our owner wanted to win like Utd owner. Imagine if Kronke got into ownership to win titles and trophies. Wouldn’t that be something. Sad that any Gooner anywhere has more ambition than the owner.

    1. Glaziers delegate a lot to Ed Woodward.
Silent Stan delegats a lot to Gazidis.

Dead daddy Glazier bought UTD using UTDs income to pay the loan he took out to get the club, at least that was reported at the time and UTD fans was moaning about.

Wish our owner bought us like that?

Why not give the CEO credit/blame they deserve?
Woodward massively increased UTDs income and then got promoted and in the position to spend that income on players, they paid big for Pogba right? Glaziers didn’t pull that fee out their backsides and inject it into UTD.

People blamed Wenger while I pointed to Gazidis.
Wenger gone and oooh look, still penny pinching. Gazidis still here.

Silent Stan hasn’t taken all our funds, he took a couple payments but nowhere near the money that the Glaziers took out of UTD.

      1. MIDKEMMA, so where, in your opinion has the money gone?
It’s a disgrace that we can’t find anything out about this and, when Kronkie gets all the shares it wont be possible to anyway.
This seems to be a question that the majority of fans don’t want to address or query and I can’t understand why!
Jon Fox has hinted at a corrupt board and that seems to be the only logical answer, as Kronkie doesn’t need to be corrupt anyway.

        1. Midkemma again you blame Gazidis, a puppet rather than the puppet master. You assume Kronke wants to win, yet every franchise he owns proves otherwise. The 500 million he borrowed is coming from where exactly? You think he won’t bleed Arsenal, yet he’s delivered no titles, and clearly stated he’s not in it for titles.

He already owes massively for the Rams stadium, even with public funding. A bit of research on your part would aim your blame in the right direction. You are mistaken to give Gazidis so much power; when the history shows otherwise. Perhaps pay more attention to the owner and his track history of not only Arsenal, but all his teams.

Arsenal is a piggy bank to Kronke, no more no less. I’ve said this before, but in time you will believe me. When he takes club private you will truly see the truth. Hopefully.

          1. Durand, you are completely correct and members of “justarsenal” should use simple Google searches to acquaint themselves with Kroenke’s involvement with sports franchises in the USA.
Once he takes the club into private ownership we and the media will be kept in the dark and there will be no scrutiny. It will be welcome to the Arsenal mushroom farm – kept in the dark and fed on BS.
However getting back to Mourinho, I only wish Emery, Swen and Raul were given the same transfer budget as he’s had at Man U. I’m sure the trinity would use it better.

        2. Ken , Forget my misreported “hint.” I have several times stated , as is my way , that our board ARE corrupt. There are degrees of corruption of course. Just as a bank robber is more corrupt than a person who knowingly lauders the ill gotten money The launderer is though, still guilty. So it is with our board. They are all business men in background and are well aware that Kroenke, the arch thief, is robbing our club, yet turn a blind eye. Or to put it in legalese, are complicit in the fact. Sir “Arrogant” Chips KESWICK, WHEN SILENCING BY FORCE, ALL CRITICISM OF KROENKE AND THE CLUB, AT THE A.G.M. is also complicit. Gazidis stood idly by while it suited him and did zilch to cleanse our club, until KROENKE WAS FORCED TO ACT BY TENS OF THOUSANDS OF EMPTY SEATS , TO SACK WENGER. True, Gazidis anticipated it by a year or so and he read the many PREVIOUIS lower signs of discontentment and so installed the new regime. Now, it appears that he is about to double his salary by going to A.C. Milan. We oldies well know that huge money and huge power corrupts and Arsenal is no exception to this rule. We fans, the ONLY ones who TRULY CARE for our club are the only real losers. Players still pocket huge dosh and end up elsewhere still raking it in. TWAS EVER THUS WHEN THE CORRUPT POWERFUL ANIMALS RULE THE JUNGLE, and the loyal carers get s..t upon from on high! It is high level finance that is corrupt almost the entire world over and top level football, or the BUSINESS of it to be accurate, THAT STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN.

    2. What? You mean the United owner who won’t saction buying a proper CH, despite them being the richest club in the world, prior to City’s rise?

  5. Not much between us and man Utd at the moment.

I just hope that the spuds don’t hand us a ass whooping when we meet them but would have to say that the spuds will walk through our back line unless we improve.

I hope the new gaffer can drill the players to tighten things up.

Still find Maureen ranting funny, never mind he will be off by next season I think.

  6. While I am loving Jose ATM for his grumpiness, I got to say, I am still jealous that UTD have a top man behind the scenes.

The fortune Jose has spent was all self generated but their guy spends it on investing in the club, ours play it safe and banks it.

Imagine if Arsenal had Woodward, how much would Sven/Emery have to invest in getting players who can play Emeryball?

Such thoughts are painful when I see our bald git BS to us year after year.

Got to hope that Emery can develop the stars so let us all get behind him and give him a season or two, time to sell players who can’t play his style and for kids to grow into the roles needed.

    1. utd merchandising and popularity are way ahead of any clubs in the league….especially in Asia

people are wiling to pay high prices for their shirts and etc…

hence they could afford expensive signing

but they have stopped this season….hit their limit i suppose

      1. While they are undoubtedly ahead, there are many reasons for this and one of them is the fact they make big name signings which drive their supporters out to buy, they show ambition which drives the supporters out to buy, they have made some right choices which have paid off for them and that is the biggest reason why they are more popular than us.

Let us not forget that a (painful) decade and a half ago we was up there with them in the EPL, we was growing in the popularity and dare I say that we prob had more neutrals due to good, exciting, attacking football. At least from people who watched matches regularly.

What choices did our board make at the time of growth? Double down and invest in the club or oust the man with drive and replace him with someone who overseen the sale?

That was a moment which will affect us for decades to come.

All these moments are not isolated, they blend together to create the history, it produces the present.

We could grow and become bigger than UTD, I bet Silent Stan would love that, more so if he didn’t put his hand in his back pocket to make it happen.

Why not demand more from the CEO as a fan of Arsenal? If he can’t do it then get rid of him and get someone who can. Fans was so happy to throw Wenger under the bus and it was painful to see the CEO getting away with a terrible job, claiming Wenger was some kinda dictator… Who was looking at Gazidis?

Wenger was failing and Gazidis played a political game to oust the manager that had his bosses respect, he wasn’t putting Arsenal first. Many moments went past and Gazidis missed them by playing the political game.

        Sorry for long reply 😛
I fully agree, UTD are more popular than us but that is our CEOs fault, he has been selling our future in his battle with Wenger. We could be a lot more popular than we are now, maybe not as popular… maybe we could have grown. We will never know :'(

        1. Midkemma you give Gazidis too much credit and no blame to Wenger. Arsene did himself in. He spent £11 million on Cech AND NO ONE ELSE. You blame Gazidis for that?
A decade without a quality DM; you blame Gazidis? Keeping Walcott 10 years when clearly not good enough; Gazidis fault too I suppose.
How about failed British core, keep e tending contracts and overpaying; you probably blame Gazidis too.

We even grew stale on the pitch, was that Gazidis fault too?

Gazidis brought in Sven, the best out there. Gazidis brought Raul as well, top class. Wenger mocked a director of football, remember?

Go ahead and blame Gazidis for everything and continue to excuse Kronke, despite mountains of evidence and several other franchises that prove Kronke isn’t in it for titles. But you probably blame Gazidis for that too I suppose.

  7. This is all about class.
Can you imagine any of our managers in the last fifty years acting in this way?
The OLD board wouldn’t have stood for it and neither would the fans.

But let’s be realistic here, it’s only three games in for every cluband to try and judge any manager in this period is ridiculous.
Hope he does fail, not only because it’s him but because it’s United as well.

Food for thought though, The Chosen One has won three titles and so has Maureen!!
Come on lads, I couldn’t resist it honest Jon it was to good to miss!!

    1. Ken your posts are always spot on… and to read your bit about hoping United fail is just brilliant…. Bloody brilliant in fact ????

      1. Sue, Judas RVP deserved Utd and they deserved him don’t you agree?
Waited a long time to see it starting to crumble around their arrogant heads.
Even better to see it happening to Maureen AND Utd, even if it’s only temporary.
What comes around etc “A master in failure” I think the quote was.

By the way, check my post regarding Phil’s latest venture in T shirts and beware!?

        1. Yes I agree they did deserve each other!
I can’t ever resist having a laugh at their expense… so long may it continue ?

          1. It’s still early days (3 matches); it will be an interesting side show watching it pan out.

    2. KEN, AND FIVE OF THOSE SIX , BETWEEN THEM, ARE NOW ANCIENT FOOTBALL HISTORY.Too good a “retort” to miss. To be clear, I still have enormous respect for Arsene Wenger AS A HUMAN BEING. I HAVE NONE, NOR HAVE EVER HAD, FOR MAUREEN. I hope he is NOT sacked, as he is doing a perfectly good job in keeping them below Arsenal in the Prem. Long may that remain!

  8. now mourinho past it….

    whos next?

based on Arsenal fans past archived views….Mourinho should retire

  9. Please does anyone know how I can download the arsenal song 49 49 undefeated….playing football the arsenal way.. I really love the song … I guess the only annoying fact is that it was gotten from a man u tune….. But I still love it!!!!! ………anyway still your sweet Chiza!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. Chiza, I AM COMING ROUND TO THE OPINION THAT YOU REALLY ARE SWEET. And that I misjudged you! So apologies are in order. Sorry , sweet one! No sarcasm this time either. Also, I am not really the ogre some think I am, despite being a miserable old git at times! It is hard being old, ugly and still in love with Arsenal ! Cue violins!

  10. What I think with Jose recent management is, he is now having players he could not make to play his tactics, so now adapting to his players who are yet to play together as a resolute gang on a mission.
I didn’t watch the first 60 minutes, but the 34 mins of 2nd half I saw Lukaku was like Alice in Wonderland, and Sanchez, no need to even talk about him.
However, it was a game I hope would be eye-opener to Unai Emirate, oh sorry, Emery. His job is cut out for him right now, because, it is like the newly promoted teams want to be safe above relegation by the end of the first term of the season in January!

  11. Yes mourinho has three premier league titles…wenger won three premier league titles…. But I guess mourinho brags about his own achievements just because he won his premier league titles when the league was much harder……maybe that’s why he doesn’t respect wenger’s premier league titles……..wenger invincibles carries weight I guess he would only respect that… But let’s be honest..wenger won his premier league titles when it was only man u we had as a challenge…..even with the team wenger had he should have won more premier league titles…you can’t have a Henry, bergkamp, viera, etc and not win more.. It was a bit disappointing to be honest…imagine Ferguson having those players…… But in all I still respect Wenger!

    1. Innit, Whisper it but that is a great coincidence. As hundreds of other fans on here ALSO share your love!

  12. 1. It’s just 3 games.
    2. Other top teams, they will spend their way out of crisis. Arsenal will not.
