Arsenal are a TOP club – Man Utd and Spurs are NOT

As usual the transfer window is very frustrating for Arsenal fans, with very little in the way of solid information forthcoming from the Gunners camp. Oh to be a Liverpool fan, with nine signings already, including Benteke, who I wouldn’t have minded at Arsenal…. but I digress.

So anyway I found this excellent quote from the former France manager Raymond Domenech. He was talking about the proposed move of Hugo Lloris to Manchester United, and he doesn’t seem very happy with the idea. In fact he thinks that Man United cannot be classed as a top English team any more, and he puts them on the same level as Tottenham!

‘I have no decision to take for him, but in my opinion he has to play in Chelsea, Arsenal, or Manchester City, to play in the European Cup,’ he told the Mail.

‘Tottenham is a big club – it is not the biggest. Manchester United qualified for the Champions League, but I can’t really see the difference with Tottenham.

‘For me, it’s Chelsea, Arsenal, or Manchester City. Because I think Manchester United is no more a big club, in England, for me. I think like that.

‘I think that Arsenal will be every time a big club, Chelsea also – City is becoming a big club – but I think United is with Tottenham, with the other clubs. Not one of the biggest clubs, so there’s no difference.

‘For me he’s a great goalkeeper so he needs to be in the best English club, or French, or Italian, or German.’

We all know that Man United have suffered since Alex Ferguson retired, but after just two years out of the Top Two can we really dismiss them out of hand for the future? They are spending fortunes and are (just about) in the Champions League. Are Arsenal and Chelsea really the only two top teams in the Premier League now?
