Arsenal are just as good as Barcelona!

The way that Arsene Wenger has evolved his Arsenal team to play fast one-touch football to entertain the fans and bamboozle our opponents has often led to comparisons with the tikka-takka football played by an on-form Barcelona side, although we havent had the same ability to win trophies.

Right now we have someone perfectly placed to compare the two sides as Alexis Sanchez has moved to the Emirates from the Nou Camp, and he believes that our Arsenal side is just as good as the Spanish giants.

Alexis has been talking about his time in Barcelona in the Telegraph. “The first year was OK and then the second year I was better, but I needed time.” Sanchez said. “Arsenal play beautiful football, but Barcelona play in a way that no other team in the world does. English football is more direct, more end to end, but I like that. It suits the way I want to play.

“My team-mates have helped me adapt. If my team-mates were not so good, then I would not have done so well. It is that easy. The quality here is impressive. You only need to take a glance around a training session to see that. It is the same level, more or less, as there was at Barcelona. We do different things in training, but player for player, it is just about the same.”

That is very generous assessment from the Chilean superstar, but is it totally accurate? I’m not so sure….

    1. no hes right. you only have to look at the players

giroud is same level as neymar
      ramsey same level as messi
      welbeck same level as suarez

      1. LOL – can’t argue with that. But as great as Neymar and Suarez are as talented individual footballers it would be remiss not to point out that the cabinet housing Danny Welbeck’s club team honours is arguably more impressive than either! Golden Boots and step-overs do not define a career.

      2. We’re much more Barcelona light but we won’t be the real deal hence we have to find the arsenal way.i do understand the article though.

Giroud is a crap version of Ibrahimovic
        Sanchez is our Suarez
        Gnabry+w.silva+ryo=delofeu
        ox + theo+podolski=Neymar (well nearly)
        Ozil + Rosicky+zalelem =iniesta
Santi isn’t far from rakitic (when he is on form)
Xavi …..erm arteta would be our version if he was plying cm.
        the player we can’t match
        busquets(maybe arteta+diaby+ flamini)
        ect….

As you can see we have similar types but it would take 2-3of our players to warrant half a comparison with there’s.somthe answer is we’re nowhere near them maybe usmanov is right we need world class players in every position maybe wingers 2year projection would allow us to do this by only signing world class/X11 players for position needed.

        Eg
        Cb hummels/godin
        Dm khedira/KRYCHOWIAK
        Lw rues/Pedro/turan/Isco
        St cavani/benzema

  1. I hate this tikka-takka boring sh$t, 90% possession and then loose the game. I love rivalry direct football …
We need to exert more pressure on the manager and the board, that might results in good winter transfer … 4th spot is not good enough for us …
So yes, put your banner up again …

      1. hes top ten for certain.

barcelona really sharted on themselves. why they sold him an kept pedro – foooolsss

      2. Yes, Messi and Ronaldo occupy their own other worldly top tier – then you have a dozen or so world class performers on their own tier looking up at LM and CR. Sanchez IMO is on or very close to this second tier.

    1. Sanchez is on the same level as Hazard, Aguero, Bale, Neymar, Suarez and Zlatan. I think he’s better than Angel Di Maria, who has been slightly disappointing in Manure. Like Özil in Arsenal, Di Maria in Manure isnt crowded with world class players like Ronaldo, (Bale), Benzema, Modric and Alonso.

Hopefully Özil will get there some day in Arsenal 🙂 🙂

      1. Imo we sold a player that should be there along side messi and ronaldo in regards to the best in the world hes currently tearing up the bundesliga with wolfsberg i miss you nb 52 come home

        1. Hell, we should have sacked Wenger and hired Bendtner instead. Just look at the stats mate:

Wenger losses as manager (in Arsenal): 189 (as of oct. 2013)
Bendtner losses as manager (in total): 0.

AKB’s aka the haters will still say that Bentner isnt a manager.

    1. But at what cost? £70M, whereas we bought Sanchez for £35M (?)

I will also dare to say that Sanchez was a great economical buy as well, not only because his price was very reasonable, but also because buying him promotes Arsenal in South America, a continent i don’t really think the club has a very notable fan base in.

  2. Even though i havnt seen much at all of Tyrone Mings… oddly i am still hoping we get him so that we might see an all English back four for old time kicks. How cool would it be then if Bould taught them the full monty aka offside trap.

    1. All this means is we won’t go for a quality cb in the summer. Can’t see wenger getting rid of nacho so mings will be his back up 3rd lb and 3rd LCb

When we should be going for a quality defender.
      Chelsea probably get pique
      Man U HUMMELS or godin

      ……Meanwhile arsenal will get mings.

      1. I dont know about you but in first half they havent done anything noteworthy. Newcasle had better chances than them yet.

    1. oh no no no he is not ‘a’ championship player.
      he is ‘the’ championship player.
