Arsenal have secured one of the biggest transfers of the summer with Fabrizio Romano confirming that Eberechi Eze is heading to the Emirates. The Italian transfer expert dropped his famous “here we go” late this evening, revealing that all parties have reached a verbal agreement.

Crystal Palace are set to receive a package worth more than £60 million for their star man, who chose Arsenal over Tottenham despite strong interest from Spurs. Arsenal’s new Sporting Director Andrea Berta has been working on the deal for days, with advanced talks finally reaching a breakthrough tonight.
Arsenal strengthen in attack
Eze, who scored 11 Premier League goals last season, has been one of the most sought-after players in English football. His ability to operate across the frontline will provide Mikel Arteta with vital options as the Gunners aim to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title and make a deep run in the Champions League.
The 27-year-old England international’s flair, dribbling ability and eye for goal have made him a standout in the Premier League. His preference for Arsenal is seen as a major victory, particularly as Spurs had also been pushing hard for his signature.

Say thanks to Berta, the man who has stamped his authority in the right manner. Silent performer. In a few months, all quality signings – Gyoks, Zubs, Eze, Nogard, Mosquera, Kepa . Not convinced with Noni, maybe a signing to please Mikel.

What makes you say that Sharivan. We needed to replace Havertz. Eze can play left wing or forward with a lot of experience. Nwaneri can do the same but also for the right wing. Madueke is needed to. We need support upfront. We’ve just seen Havertz go down with a long jury and it’s just the start of the season.

The Spurs story never made sense to me though, from our history, it was never going to surprise if it happened.
Activity in the market shows some intent for sure. It’s one thing to acquire excellent players- It’s yet another to manage and inspire them to achieve something meaningful.

Great news! We really needed that left sided playmaker, and he is so good. But he is neither a winger or a striker, so I think there is more to come before the window close. Probably just need to sell some players first.
Not sure how planned the Eze arrival at this time was with the Havertz injury and all – only Berta knows that – but I think it definitely means Berta will be pushing hard to sell several players if he can over the next ten days.

Now I am only begging the manager for one thing. Please let someone stand as the defensive midfielder. The all dynamic midfield thing where both Rice and Zubimendi is bumping forward is presenting chances to the opponent. Unless their fitness level and their understanding of each other’s games has gotten to the level where there are no lapses. For higher opponents, let someone stand and start the marking for the defense so that the defense can mark the runs of other players rather than stepping out of position to approach the man with the ball.
At all times, someone should be on the man with the ball.
If someone is approaching the defense with the ball, the DM should be the one approaching the man not the defender. So often our DM’s are on the back foot, behind the ball forcing the defender to approach the man with the ball. The DM should always start the marking when someone approaches the defense with the ball. Stop doing this against high level opponents so we can win the league this season because that will always give them at least one chance in the match.

Well I’ve been saying on other articles to “stop talking about Eze as we are not in for him” but how wrong I was as apparently we’ve been quietly negotiating with Palace since the weekend. What a signing and highjacking spurs makes it all the sweeter. Even Jason Cundy is calling spurs the Newcastle of the south 😂
There was certainly a lot of “Will he, won’t he” over many weeks and the “Well, we never really wanted him anyway” line was appearing in articles on JA as a Sp*rs deal was certainly on the cards.
Whatever the circumstances around his signing, whether it was the likely Sp*rs deal or the injury to Havertz, he’s clearly a quality player. There’s always the additional bonus that Sp*rs are hugely disappointed judging by the reaction of much of their fanbase today.
So Spursy to lose a seemingly sure thing.

I’ve already read where the deal structure with a little less (£50m + £10m add-ons) was put in place the morning of August 10 and that the Havertz situation simply accelerated the deal to prevent Spuds from hijacking what would have been a little less costly deal for us.
We had clearly needed him for a very long time (imo), and yet as far as we knew, no serious approaches had been made prior to this window. Along with all the other spending which had already taken place, it was only logical that the player who should have been a top target for so long was not being valued.
After the media couldn’t even get his release clause expiration date correct, how could we believe anything else they were putting out regarding any supposed links to Eze? Thankfully, we were both wrong about the end result.
I’m a big fan of his but I don’t fully understand the signing – havertz was one of our two main cf options, so I don’t see why his injury prompted the signing of eze, who can play every attacking role except CF. Trossard has been hit and miss in that role, but it’s possible the thinking is a player like eze could help get the best from him when he does play up front? I get the feeling there’s a real possibility nwaneri could be tried up front as well, which could be interesting – I think he has the potential to score a lot of goals (good finisher, good instincts for finding space in/around the box), but he’s more suited to attacking from deeper positions and scoring from outside the box or via late runs into the box.

I agree, but I’m not sure about wanting Palace to win another trophy this season. In the event, hopefully unlikely, that Arsenal don’t win anything, a further Palace trophy would take them ahead, in only two seasons, of Arsenal’s haul since Arteta arrived. Not a good look.
As for Berta, he’s certainly done the job so far that he was brought in to do. I just hope that he’ll be as successful selling the players in this window that Arsenal wants to offload (no easy task) as he has been in buying players.

Shone, I agree with your assessment that “Odegaard needs to step up.” Odegaard now has serious competition for the #10 position and will have to lift his game, particularly in attack, which has been underwhelming for a player of his ability, for some time.
I think Berta is managing to offload. Just a matter of final agreements. It’s now looking like they want another – Fofana. Are they looking at finally letting Martinelli go if this becomes a yes? For me I hope so because the left wing is still our doubt but now a smaller one.

You may well be right and if so, it seems a strange one wouldn’t you agree. And one that doesn’t make sense. Now some might think it be negative to worry about him getting injured.
But it’s one thing him getting injured playing for us, and another getting injured playing for Palace and then putting any move in serious doubt depending on severity of any potential injury received.
Why take that chance, I think to air on the side of caution is the order of the day here. 🤷♂️

If Arteta does not change his slow side ways passing tactics, then it does not matter how many good players we sign. Arsenal will not achieve anything significant
