The name on everybody’s lips is Eberechi Eze, and rightly so. Arsenal are closing in on a move for the England international after seemingly hijacking his transfer out of nowhere. On Wednesday evening, August 20, news broke that Arsenal were planning to hijack Tottenham’s move for Eze and within hours, a verbal agreement had been struck, followed by the famous “here we go” on his switch to North London. For many supporters, it was a pleasant surprise. A player Arsenal had courted all summer, who looked destined to join their rivals, will now become a Gunner.
Arsenal’s Secret Dealings
Arsenal’s ruthless coup appeared to come out of the blue, but a recent report has revealed that the club had been laying the groundwork earlier this month. According to the Mirror, sporting director Andrea Berta actually thrashed out the terms of the deal as early as August 10. This was reportedly kept under wraps while the narrative that Arsenal needed to sell before buying was pushed to disguise their approach. Signing an out-and-out left winger had initially taken priority, so the Eze move was temporarily put on hold. This gave Tottenham the chance to make their move, and they agreed a deal worth £50 million plus £10 million in add-ons. However, Kai Havertz’s unfortunate knee injury changed everything, prompting Arsenal to step in and sensationally hijack the transfer. Per the same report, Arsenal will now pay £60 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons.

Eze’s Final Palace Appearance
As part of the agreement, Eze will feature for Crystal Palace in the Europa Conference League playoff against Fredrikstad on Thursday. This will mark his final appearance for the Eagles before, presumably, undergoing a medical on Friday. That would almost certainly rule him out of the Leeds United game on Saturday, but Arsenal supporters will have their eyes firmly on the Liverpool clash a week later.
Andrea Berta is like a breath of fresh air in this epic Arsenal transfer window!
The hijack was so un-Arsenal-like, and many fans are loving it. What are your thoughts on this ruthless coup, Gooners?

Fantastic
I can picture Saka doing unpaid undercover work for us during his free time to get this over the line hehe, go and shine at the Emirates Eze my man!
Now do the same for Lookman my guy.
If we bring in Rodgers too, we can wrap the EPL up by Feb.
In to get malick fofana!! What a player!! Young winger!
Excellent work all round from everybody involved in making this happen, I was resigned to seeing Eze sign for that lot down the road and just like that I hear the news he’s on his way to the mighty reds! Shades of Sol Campbell all over again, here’s hoping this could be the final piece of the puzzle and Arsenal go one better in both the league and Europe, good times ahead!
So do I mate. Saddened me thought that Spurs have got him. What a blessing in disguise.
Unfortunately, we lost Havertz to buy Eze. I guess Nelson/ Trossard will be shipped out soon because of Eze’s arrival and Martinelli/ Merino might be trained to play second fiddle to Gyokeres
Eze is known to be a Gooner, so I expect him to put in extra efforts in every game
He’d likely become our main LW, but he’ll surely compete for the AM roles as well
@Gai After watching EZE match against. Chelsea, I must confess I wanted him more in Arsenal.
This guy has the ability to help Arsenal against teams with low blocks. He is so good with the ball in motion and he can pass well too. I think that would benefit Gyokeres.
Painfully we lost Havertz. I am a huge fan of Havertz. But I believe Merino will do a good job I also hope Gyokeres has good fitness record. Nelson/Viera/Lokonga should be sold.
the only way this makes sense is if martinelli is moved as backup/option as the number 9 to stretch teams with his pace.
eze and madeuke would then be options out wide.
if not then would have thought a back up striker would have been option rather than eze
Bob dude. We just signed eze . Who cares about yo stupid martinelli🤣
well done on missing the point 😂. if gyokeres gets injured, we are back to last season with merino upfront. eze is great, but there is more pressing issues if havertz is out for a long time.
How was this a secret August 10 deal when it was widely reported at the time !
Seems like Berta was looking to sell before completing this transfer … I guess a mic of Havertz injury and Spuds almost getting it over the line precipitated the work yesterday
Looking forward to seeing how Eze adds to the performances…he is up yo match fitness so could potentially have some mins on Sat but likely against Liverpool as he will be playing this evening
Best of luck to him and COYG
Yes, I think that’s the case.
If deals were apparently virtually agreed with both Arsenal and Sp*rs as the article suggests then Palace were clearly covering all the options.
Fantastic, lovely. Couldn’t believe what I was reading. I had to read on many platforms. I am savouring the news right now. A coup on Spuds.
All I know is Rice, Ode, Mart & co will sit up. Liverpool here we come.
Weeks ago Just Arsenal asked which we prefer between Rodrigo and Eze happy to say id opted for the gunner Eze especially because the former was hardly convincing showing any interest in us.
Seems the global fanbase is ecstatic about this signing – The news and especially how it came about is historic – echoes of how id waited for Sol.
Now we have ballers.. eze,jesus,saka,dowman,nwaneri,odegard
Here’s hoping Arteta let’s Dowman loose some more! That kids hungry as he’ll and looks next level.
I can’t wait to see Eze balling out in an Arsenal shirt. Here we go!
We just hijackers the Spuds for one of Englands best! Suck on that Levy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great signing! But we wont pay more than spurs would have, it just doesn’t make sense lol. Think I read earlier today 55+5 somewhere, but it seems like no one really knows at the moment.
One good thing about our summer signings is, they all really want to play for arsenal. Now that Harvetz got injured (quick recovery bro), Martinelli should be sent up front to back up Gyokeres.
Eze transfer will no doubt, make Rice, Odegaard, and even Merino to sit up.
This is the best assist from Kai. Or should I rather say we bought Kai from Chelsea just for this sole reason.
This has to go down as the assist of the year. He sure did take one for the team.
Very good assist as you said it from havertz no doubt about that. Without his injury Eze for be Spurs by now. Wonderful transfer from Arsenal.unlike Arsenal this year. Our support director knows the game. By may Arsenal will win premier league.
Berta is moving like a prime mission impossible tom cruise with the smokescreen and disguise. We are really covering all the squad positions this season. If only we had him for the last 3 seasons, surely we would have at least 1 league tiltle.
Eze could be a great signing for us, great experience playing in the EPL so should easily slot in. My concern is the amount of money we have spent this window: £265m on players coming in and only £9m the other way. NET spend so far £256m compared to Liverpool: £135m, Chelsea: £54m and Man City: £74m. We need to move some of our players before adding new ones. The Eze signing could well win us a major trophy this season, imo FA or Carabao cups should not be enough.
I really don’t care how much of our multi billionaires money the club spends.
What matters is we get the players we need to compete constantly at the top and stay within financial guidelines.
Ask for the rest, speaking as a fan not a share holder, I just want success ie TROPHYS.
Fair enough, but don’t forget that the Kroenke’s (though KSE, there are no private shareholders) are only loaning the money that the club can’t raise itself.
The loans go onto the club’s overall debt (which is about £500m on the latest 2023-24 figures). Billionaires don’t become billionaires giving away money.
