Arsenal chasing out-of-favour Chelsea defender

Most of the Arsenal transfer rumours so far this summer have centered around our back line, after our ageing defenders had their worst season ever under Arsene Wenger, so it is obvious that this is the area that Sven Mislintat should be concentrating on.

The Gunners have already been linked with the Turkish centre-back Caglar Soyuncu and also with the experienced Greek
international Sokratis. We are also expected to bring in the ex-Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free, but none of those are left-sided players, which is also a position that needs looking at.

We have the very consistent Nacho Monreal but the Spaniard is now 32 years of age and surely won’t last too many more seasons at the top. Our only other contender is Sead Kolasinac but he seems to spend more time in attacking positions than defence, so there is little surprise that we have turned our eyes to the young Chelsea left-back Kenedy, who has spent the last 5 months at Newcastle, and impressed their coach Rafa Benitez.

It is very likely that Chelsea will be prepared to let him move on as Marcus Alonso is cemented into the first-team, and the Blues also have brought in Emerson as a backup if Alonso gets injured.

Kenedy looks like a good young prospect, but the reports are saying that Leipzig, PSG and Bayern Munich are also keen so the Brazilian won’t come cheap if Arsenal get him.

Would we want to buy a Chelsea reject anyway?

22 years old, Brazilian, strong left foot, fast, Premier League experience and can play as winger or wingback. He looked good against Manchester United and Liverpool as well:

If he is available at low price and if he has excellent first touch like Salah, Firmino, De Bruyne, Silva, Aguero and Sanchez, I think he would be a good addition, because we lack a quick left-footed winger

  2. Ingleby

Never understand this ‘he played for such and such’ therefore I don’t like him/we shouldn’t buy him, which appears to be the sub text here. De Bruyne was a Chelsea reject! Who cares? If he is good enough then get him. Utter nonsense all of this booing a player because he once played for a rival. Simply moronic.

    1. jon fox

The article comment about buying a Chelseas reject is not the comment of a man with much IQ “MORONIC” IS RATHER FLATTERING FOR SOMEONE WHO WOULD WRITE SUCH TRIPE.

        1. jon fox

Precisely! You emphasise my own point very well. Except neither were actually rejects; just great players mistakenly let go. How bitterly Chelsea must regret both huge mistakes they made.

      1. GB

I’m not an RM fan, I just don’t want the bin dippers to win it. Anyway, who are you to say “we” and speak for everyone else?

        1. jon fox

Wrongly, I had assumed you are British. Clearly you do not like Brit teams and prefer teams that play in other countries. But not “other” from your own country, apparently.

          1. Declan

I’m English, born and bred, live about 1 mile from the training ground in London Colney. Why the hell would I want a rival to win it? You’re not real!

              1. jon fox

Clearly neither you not Declan know the word “patriot”. Both your attitudes , as Brits are so small minded. Incredible and petty!

                    1. Ken1945

Well there we have it folks, the wonderful, master tactician Klopp loses again.
So that’s four years and he still hasn’t won anything.
Porch still in the same position, no trophies and Maureen’s united trying to get Sanchez to fit in.
All we’ve got to worry about is Pep and City.
What a great weekend, Fulham promoted, Liverpool losing and Saracens champions.
Can’t wait to get back from holiday and join in the fun!

                  1. jon fox

Sue,I prefer English teams to beat foreign teams, whoever they are. Even Spuds. If that makes me derided by non patriots , like most, sadly, seem to be on here, then so be it. As for rivals, all teams are rivals if we ever play them. We should soon be truly rivalling REAL MADRID anyway. Remember we have beaten and lost to them in the past. I just don’t know why so many football fans “hate” direct rivals. I understand, OF COURSE, wanting our rivals to lose, ESP when we play them but hating is for petty, small minded people. As for being a hypocrite, every human I have ever met is also a hypocrite. It is a part of the human condition and we actually cannot function normally without being, in lots of small everyday ways, hypocrites. IF YOU DOUBT THIS , THEN STUDY ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY CLOSELY AND WHAT THEY SAY, WHEN IN THEIR COMPANY FOR JUST ONE DAY. Not too profound for you, I hope Sue.

                    1. Sue

Well I’m sorry Jon but I don’t want the spuds to win anything.. not even the toss!!!
Each to their own though, everyone has their own opinion 👍

                    2. Arsene is Out

I have many people around me who are NOT hypocrites Jon. I sometimes feel that I maybe one from time to time but thankfully I am surrounded by many who are not in the least bit.
You should try to hangout with different people.

You know what they say… ” You are the sum of the 5 people you are with the most”

Good luck to you, and try to be less condescending to people around here, it’s just not very nice.

            1. dragunov762mm

Mee to. Winning UCL only make Liverpool stronger in mentality. I don’t want to have them away from us before the season start. Glad they didn’t. 👍
Klopp did his antic as ever : runner up specialist. He might brake the jinx someday, but I won’t bet for him. Because, my opinion, Liverpool not yet reach balance level.

  3. You Kenny Rolfe

Yeah. I’m with you GB, can you imagine them cheering for us in a Champions League final, if we ever reach one again. Wow Mo Salah’s coming off injured

    1. dragunov762mm

That’s more like UFC arm bar 😆
Sorry for Mo Salah, but that moment was really turn the table, thanks for the calamity hands of Karius. Those hands might be more useful to clean Anfields closets 😂😂😂

      1. Prof

Maradona’s hand and Henry’s hand that time were being hypocritically labelled “Hand Of God”, now how do we describe Karius’ hands?

    1. sanmi.marvellous

That’s what we lacking at Arsenal since Vierra and Gilberto left. We need Ramos type of Defender, with sensible tackling without red cards of course.😂

  4. Will

I may be missing something about this lad. But as someone who lives in Newcastle and watches a lot of their games Kenedy has played mainly as a left sided midfielder/forward whilst Paul Dummet has played left back. He’s looked good in flashes further forward but never very strong defensively. Think we need to be looking at better options defensively (Saed and Nacho both better) and he is not good enough to improve us in an attacking sense.

  5. Ronny

Chelsea rejects……Dr bruyne, Salah, cuadrado, (good enough for juve) Kennedy, loftus cheek, arjen robben

From what I’ve seen this year I like him slightly gibbs like? 🙂

  6. Ronny

    @jonfox
I know it’s poor show but for Jon……come on RM!!
Can’t bear to see klopps pearly whites either gnashing or that cheesy smile anymore he’s become really annoying to me!

    1. Fab

He is not happy at RM especially with the hypocrisy of Ronaldo and Benzema, I think Arsenal should try and break the bank to take him back to the epl

      1. Counsel

I have carefully considered the submissions of the able counsels, and I find the accused goalkeeper Karius guilty as charged and I pass a death sentence to him under section 1 of the uefa rules. It is so ordered.

        1. Mwsupporter

Yes it was horrific, people make errors in life, he was rightly distraught, what’s inexcusable is not one Liverpool went to him to console him, he has to live with that forever. Just about sums up that club. From our perspective it’s bad because they are bound to replace their keepers next year.

            1. Mwsupporter

Sue, completely agree, but it’s not how it should be done in public and doesn’t look good on the club. Klopp isn’t quite as good as he thinks maybe.

      1. dragunov762mm

He won only one tournament and that was German’s DBF Pokal League Cup, only equal as England’s FA Cup.
        Anything but trophies eh Klopp?😆

  7. jon fox

What Arsenal MUST learn from the sub par Liverpool keeper Karius, who cost them the game , is that a TRULY TOP KEEPER IS VITAL. That quality keeper is is NOT Cech. Nor OSPINA!

    1. Highbury Gunner

A top quality goalkeeper, should be the no 1 signing if arsenal hopes to compete

  8. Ronny

How to immortalise yourself for the wrong reasons on national tv……..#karius playing for Sunday league team next season?

  9. Fab

If Spain win the WC my vote for B’de O will go to Ramos, he is absolutely no sense. The way he tackles and cause constant trouble to strikers is exemplary extraordinary. He managed to change the game after Salah foul

  10. s

So Zidane is yet to be knocked out of the Champions League… I know one person who could possibly beat him. If you excuse his lack of managerial experience that is. If Inter Milan call one Marco Materazzi to save their season, the media circus would be huge should they meet Real Madrid in the CL…

  11. Mobella

We need more quality players in EPL than money . This is a testament often how shit EPL is. A league that relies too much on brute, pace and strength. Madrid is shit team this season in laliga yet they blow away a team that was much celebrated EPL.

    1. Mobella

Kennedy is not a defender. He played in attacking position for NC united. The fact that Chelsea played him in a defensive position doesn’t make him a defender. Arsenal played Oxlade in the same position. Does that make him a defender.

  12. Robin Vanpayslip

Could someone please recommend me a manager that never wins anything. I’m looking for someone that reaches a cup final that he then goes on to lose.

      1. Robin Vanpayslip

        🤣🤣🤣

I was looking for a teeth to face ratio of 62.82019572% but that will do. Who is this amazing football manager?

          1. John Ibrahim

            Klopp is world class….

            he guarantee titles and trophies….

this was confirmed by Arsenal fans prior of him joining Liverfool

As long as Liverfool keep Sallah…he will keep scoring and winnning

  13. RSH

What a final. Ramos won’t be sightseeing in Egypt any time soon. I was shocked by subbing off of Isco, but this is why Zidane has 3 UCL’s. What a goal too. Karius I feel really bad for. But you’re a professional and there’s no sympathy when mistakes are made at the highest level. Hard to live down those moments. Modric was just majestic. Really got stuck in the match too when Liverpool were playing well, gotta love the guy even if he’s former spurs. Good final.

  14. stubill

Absolutely delighted with the two results today. Fulham back in the Prem’, I love going to Craven Cottage, a proper old school ground, and secondly. the dirty, scummy, thieving, lying pieces of sh1t lost the Champions League Final.

    Oh happy days.

    1. RSH

i just love seeing Klopp lost for words, sitting down and shutting up. All that jumping around and still has no trophy to show for Liverpool. Also a big fan of Craven Cottage.

    2. Ken1945

      stubill,
What do you think they are smoking at Liverpool now?
Wonder when the media will start questioning Klopp and Porch about their barren years without any trophies?
Only downside is that Liverpool will now be in competition with us for a new goalkeeper.

      1. Phil

Ken1945-I take it you are still on holiday in Canada? If so I trust you are having a good time over there.Apologies But was enjoying some Corporate Hospitality at Wentworth today so have been in and out of posts and missed your earlier one regarding the AW T-Shirt.See I told you did I not.Wenger can’t even get a farewell right. And obviously he used some two bob outfit for the printing instead of buying the real thing. No wonder he was sacked.
And your call for me to submit an article? I’m working on one (between the Spanish and Dubai sunshine plus Golf Cricket and Wimbledon this summer so don’t hold you breath but I will give you a taster-The title is ARSENE AND ME.
If probably won’t get past Admin’s censorship to be fair but if I catch him on an off day it might just surprise you.
And JF-My wife sits next to me at the Emirates and rarely goes to evening games so there’s a seat there for you whenever you need one for those games.
Enjoy Canada Ken and if more letters come off the T-Shirt leaving EIE then run for your life

      2. John Ibrahim

Media has always been nice and kind to Utd and Liverfool managers…

even Moneybags Chelsea and City tooo.

Liverfool has lost and yet they are still so lenient

        1. Sue

I’ve seen before people saying we lack that winning mentality…… they never say that about the scousers!!

  15. Alldwayfromafika

Modella really? Didn’t they knock every other team to get here….they may have been bad in Spain but they sure know how to win in Europe..

  16. ruelando

He is not a defender, still, have not matured as an attacker, but there is a lot of room for growth if he is at a reasonable price why not, we need more pace in attack.

  17. Jeremy

While I dislike Liverpool, I was thinking to myself when would we even have a chance to get into the final again?

I think we should’ve concentrated our effort on ourselves. Well, at least Liverpool managed to get into the final. What about us?

  18. Ken1945

    Phil,
And there was me thinking I’d upset you over something!
The reason the wording has gone is because so many Canadians wanted to touch something) anything that referenced their great hero and ours of course.
The quality of the lettering and the T shirt is of course out of the transfer budget, so Arsene, being the man he is, didn’t,t want to leave Emery with only 40million so you can’t really blame him, ….hang on YOu CAN!!!
Still in Canada and off across country by train to Toronto where I guess I’ll be mobbed again, but such is the price of wearing a icons T shirtl
The article sounds absolutely absorbing, hope it covers the complete 22 years including those Community Shield wins.
Finally, I’ve experienced those corporate events and that does explain some of you more colourful rants!
Your life sound like one long holiday, can’t understand why you are such a miserable b*****d!
    Enjoy😎
PS He was not sacked as you well know.and you could take the goat with you when the wife can’t make it!

  19. Ozziegunner

After the Champions League final, how much is Gareth Bale (the bit part RM player) worth now?

  20. Eric Ogbe

Am so sad for Mo Salah! Kennedy is a winger and not a left back. At least for Newcastle this season. I don’t really rate him as a winger

  21. chukzyking007

Am of the opinion that arsenal should look at other EPL though tackling defenders better than Kennedy
