Arsenal chiefs in France for Lacazette NOT Mbappe transfer?

There was a lot of debate generated among the Arsenal fans this week after a picture of our manager Arsene Wenger and the club´s chief executive Ivan Gazidis in the south of France was widely published in the football media. The main theory seemed to be that the Arsenal top brass were there to pursue the transfer of the highly rated young Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe, but now it looks like it could be a different player that was the reason behind their visit.

Many Gooners thought that the Mbappe story was a bit far fetched because the 18-year old is apparently wanted by the likes of Real Madrid and other big spending clubs and so the prices being talked about, some over the £100 million mark, are not the sort we expect Arsenal to pay.

However, the report in The Sun suggesting that it was the Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette that Wenger and Gazidis were in France for seems a lot more believable, with the transfer fee for this player said to be more like £50 million.

The report claims that Arsenal will offer the prolific 26-year old, who banged in 37 goals for his club this season, a salary of around £200,000 a week to become a Gunner. Lacazette was being heavily linked with a move to Spain’s Atletico mMdrid but they have been hit with a transfer ban, so could this French forward be about to join Kolasinac in signing for Arsenal?

  1. Arsenal funs like every transfer window will go crazy.

Arsene and Ivan don’t even have to be a certain country to sign a certain player. What will you say if you spot Wenger in Madagascar (Wenger is searching for the next Messi there?).

Let us just relax a little. For all we know Wenger may have been meeting PSG for Sanchez’s sale / he was there to sign Mahrez / another Sanogo / or is just visiting family and meet up Ivan who is on holiday too.

The Sead rumors came with strong links, any other signing will have the same too. 1 minute Mbappe, the next Seri, the next Lacazette and Wenger is there laughing at how we pray on rumors.

      1. Got to love the way the sheeple don’t research Jack ???? & Nick my jokes ?

    1. Wenger & Gazidis don’t exactly see eye to eye, so there togetherness in France (Nice) is definitely for the signing of one or two players from there.
      Mbappe is supposedly staying put.
Seri is more than likely one of the targets.

Oh.. And City are apparently announcing the signing of Sanchez in the next couple of days! ???? the player refuses to sign a new contract and doesn’t want to participate in the Europa league where that competition will effect Arsenals chances of challenging for the premiere league title.
      Fair enough!

  2. Makes more sense than Mbappe. A couple of seasons of pedigree although in the French league. Mbappe has only had one?

  3. Far more likely- they throw in the mbappe rumours to throw everyone off the scent that they are after Lacazette. I have a feeling they are after him and a sneaking suspicion we will get him. Personally I would be quite pleased at that and considering it will leave a fair bit of cash left means we would also hopefully look at strengthening our midfield and tying up Alexi and Ozil with the remaining cash.

He is a good player so I am crossing my fingers that this is true.

  4. I know ive said this before but i really don’t think Lacazette would be a good signing for us, i know many people on here disagree but i would rather go for some one like Morata, i know Mbappe is a dream.

  5. BREAKING ????

Man City to announce Sanchez signing in the next few days! ?

      1. Oh well if he goes he goes. Better that than have a player that doesn’t want to play for the team.

No one is bigger than the club.

I will wish him well and look upward and onward to next season regardless.

        1. Mate, wind your neck in…..

What should I do? Wail and cry? Have a hissy fit and give up on life. Will that stop him going? Even if it did would I do it? No.

If he don’t want to play for the club and move on then let him go. I say this as a season ticket holder and someone who is there week in and week out. I only want players that want to be there. Terrific player but If his head has been turned or if he wants to go then there is no choice to it.

Couldn’t really care if you like that or not to be honest- that’s my opinion as you are entitled to yours- difference is I am not telling you to shut up….

          1. merely london slang taken in poor context cupcake
i have no intention of queensbury rules as i feel u would have me hurt like sergio ramos

i was season ticket holder for 15 years- its not a prefect badge for a private school so wind your neck in chupa chup

            its no that deep 🙂

            1. I know what it was thanks….

What’s with all the Queensbury rules nonsense? Might want to grow up a bit there …..cupcake.

I shall leave you to Muffdiver forum as clearly you think yours is the only valid opinion on anything Arsenal.

              Enjoy!

    1. honest question, how much of what you read do you actually believe? I can find a report from just a few hours ago saying Bayern are in talks with him. Random journos on twitter say stuff all the time. If they were right, we would have Higuain, Benzema at Arsenal right now.

      1. No I don’t believe all the rumours ??
But this Man city source has a 90% accuracy with his tweets, regarding that clubs business.
It’s also no secret that Sanchez would like to stay in the premier league and to work with Pep again and the fact that there’s more chance of winning titles with City next season, now that Pep has got one season under his belt. Oh and their squad happens to be dripping with Quality players ? ? thumbing me down won’t make Sanchez stay either lol ?? otherwise I would be the first to thumb myself down ??

        1. It now makes sense why Wenger was bidding £100 million for Mbappe, even though he knew that the player wouldn’t be coming to Arsenal. But he still showed (false) intent to appease the Thick Sheeple Fans ?

        2. don’t need to tell me, haven’t thumbed you up or down, haha. I was just wondering since you post so many rumors. And of course Sanchez wants to go to a club that is surroudned by better players, but I just don’t believe Arsenal would agree to sell to a rival just a few weeks into the transfer window, when Bayern still remains an option, and Arsenal have no replacements even close to lined up. I’ve seen so many “accurate” twitter sources make false claims during transfer windows, and then they back peddle when they don’t happen and claim that the deal was almost done but “there were complications.” I cant see the Sanchez saga ending so quickly. It’s going to drag.

    2. Fatboy, stop trying to create hysteria, we are only selling to Man City if they offer ridiculous money. £100 million. If he is leaving he is going to another country. Who do you know that is giving you the information. Are you some sort off in the know journalist or do you know people at the top at AFC or Man City. Let’s just wait and see what happens. He was a bench warmer for Pep at Barca what makes you think things will change at City. Is he gonna bench Sterling DeBrunyne or Gabriel Jesus. He can go to city only if we get Aguero and £70millon.

  6. If there is any truth to this rumour then that is an instant sackable offence.rvp & cesc was bad enough.there will be riots next season if he does this.i don’t expect wenger to last till xmas!

    1. Would you prefer £50 million Or a Sanchez who will more than likely spend the remaining 12 months sulking, causing disruption in the ranks and probably refusing to play? .. Oh and he’ll end up leaving for Freeee!

  7. My conspiracy theory goes thus: Naturally, I’d say they were there to talk to Nice about Jean Michel Seri to fill a Cazorla like gap in midfield but I don’t recall them going personally to Madrid or Barcelona to get Ozil or Sanchez, neither for Xhaka or Sead, so it has to be some sort of special assignment and who else but Mbappe? They probably entered into some kind of gentleman’s agreement with the Monaco people to let him stay on for a year with first option at the very least. The Arsenal hierarchy including Wenger never saw the #Wengerout protests getting so loud, and damn was it bad for business? We all know they’ll never admit how much of a disruption it was financially to them so to avoid being hit in the pocket again next season, what better way to pacify the fans (to keep parting with their hard earned money) than make a signing like that? Worst case scenario this season, we’ll be getting Lacazette and Seri through the door, we got Sead already, Sanchez is going nowhere, Ozil doesn’t have too many options, Bellering is a Barca player already, Mbappe is still shrouded in mystery but whatever it is Arsenal know a thing or two about his future.

    1. ??
Thanks man, I was about to get stripped down and hung up by the bollox??

        1. You all are using the same source though. Just because you type it over and over doesn’t make it true. Sky and BBC have way more resources and are infinitely more accurate than twitter journos. Hours ago he was going to Bayern, lmao.

  8. Lazarette is a good signing and should get him soon, it only speculation about Alexis and believe it when you see it, but No player bigger than him and there are better players than him

  9. Sanchez is not leaving I tell you; he would rather see his contract run down than feeding rivals fresh cake. I think we just have to hold on till its official;
