Arsenal Closer to signing Jonny Evans as West Brom source replacement

Although Arsene Wenger point blank refused to talk about any Arsenal transfer rumours, including Jonny Evans, after we beat Chelsea on Wednesday, but the fact is that everyone knows the Gunners are desperately in need of a new experienced centre-back and the West Brom captain is probably the best available at the moment with EPL experience.

Arsenal were always expected to be favourites to sign Evans, but this morning the Gunners are now as low as 2/5 on get our man as it has been revealed that the Baggies have agreed a deal to land the Zamalek defender Ali Gabr on loan with a view to a permanent deal in the summer if he lives up to expectations.

That leaves the path clear for interested Arsenal to land their man, with the Baggies reportedly valuing Evans at around £23 million, which will give Alan Pardew funds to strengthen his attacking options. West Brom are currently second bottom in the League, and it has been reported that if they do go down to the Championship, then Evans has a clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for just £3m, so it makes perfect sense for Pardew to cash in on the centre-back this month.

I am sure Arsenal will try and get him as cheap as possible, but as we are in an hour of need, I don’t think that £23 million is too much to ask. Do you?

  1. Arsene Wenger has won two games in a roll and now has forgotten about Alexis Sanchez, do not care about bringing in Aubamyang anymore. All because we won two games. Wenger is going to turn this team into a less than average very soon. We have numbers but less quality, we play less than average against big teams and the small teams can chew on us whenever they have a good plan. WATCH OUT my people!!!!!!!! All he cares about is MONEY!!!!!!

    1. We have just beaten Chelsea to get to another cup final and some people are still not happy .And yes 23 million is way too much for Evans

      1. I am not talking about Evan! Aubamyang is who am talking about! Premier league will resume next week and we will see the quality on display! With Sanchez we have been about average this season, and considering he was always pulling team, now that he is gone and 2 two games has given Wenger respite, we will see how good the team is without him (and a replacement) when push comes to shuff!!!!!

  2. Arsenal beat Chelsea without Jonny Evans. he will play a 2nd fiddle to Kos & Shkodran.
he is a good signing in less than a 10 million deal.

  3. 23 Million for Evans is a bit steep but it’s not my money so if they want to pay it, pay it!
Of course they won’t though, in fact it might be better this season just to start playing Holding/Chambers/new boy in that position.

Not sure the Auba deal is going to happen either – seems to be going quiet and not much happening. Certainly doesn’t look like OG going to BVB and they seem to be putting their price up so my guess is it’s not going to happen.

  4. use the money to bring PEA … we need a DM more than anything at the back … clubs transfer policy is a corporate driven joke

  5. Typical Aubameyang will take ages to get over the line
25m for Evans can be done

    Wenger all day long

And I’ve noticed the AKB are back in force, personally whether we win or lose wenger out

  6. YAH ITS REMEMBER IS 30YRS NOW IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER WE GET SOME ONE YOUNG THAN HIM BUT COZ THERE IS NO ANY OTHER ALTANATIVE LETS GET HIM FOOTBALL OF NOW ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY EN WE NEED TO BE BACK IN BIG 4

  7. One question to Wenger, which player on wings we have who is good at 1on1 now that we have lost ox and sanchez?
    None!!
We need a wide player who can take on defenders, and a CDM(Elneny is a joke)

  8. I really do not care if wenger goes or stays and what i have been seeing over the past weeks i really do not think he has much control in whoever coming in, that responsibility seems to have been pass on to someone s else.

In terms of Alex Sanchez going, it has prompted other players to take on more responsibility, so therefore we have a more balanced team.

In regards to the other two possible incomings if we do get them i think other teams will sit up and notice if the striker deal does come through, i would say a possible top 3 finish.

  9. I often wonder why Wenger is waiting for the last day of the transfer window to do business. It has sometimes been fruitful (Ozil) and often been disastrous (Lemar/Alexis).
But, in the case of Evans, if the relegation clause exists: I am pretty sure he will wait and propose £15M on the last day. And he might get him !
Saving £8M (vs WBA’s valuation) might be great if he spends those to seal Auba’s move…
But with this kind of gambles, he might also end up with no additional center half, no world class striker, and more than £60M unused cash on Arsenal bank account.

  10. Wenger always get carried away by a win I bet u wenger won’t sign PEA he is like if we could score against cheshit we can score against any oda thing .. Bitin cheshit is a trophy for wenger. Wenger and d board ar disgrace to football.

    1. Yes he gets carried away by few wins. Always the case! You will see how agitated he can be once we get beatens from teams that already know his playing methods, and we will see how said fans that are praising him for winning against Chelsea will be! We have been average this season and that will be the case till the end if the season! I wish him luck!!!!!

  11. Chelsea have kante,bakayoko,..they are the good DM but we beat them with our joke players? in elneny and xhaka. How that happen? Someone can tell me??

  12. Real Madrid just crashed out of the Copa del Rey…
Won’t be surprised if Real Madrid moves late for Auba to fix their striker issues…

  13. Wenger will probably offer WBA £10 million for Evans and then wonder why he gets turned down and he eventually signs for someone else…..

  14. WTFC!!!..why can’t we go for Napoli’s kalidou koulibaly.Big, strong and a no nonsense central defender. He will make Sanchez and hazard look mediocre. If only i was arsenal’s scout.
