Mikel Arteta’s desire to sign a defender has never been subtle, and it remains clear even after securing highly rated Cristhian Mosquera.
Mosquera is as versatile as they come. Capable of playing as a left or right-sided centre-back, or even at right-back, he should add profound depth and help bulletproof Arsenal’s backline.
Yet, reliable sources recently suggested Arsenal were still serious about French defender Jeremy Jacquet. While it emerged that Jacquet was not keen on the move, if Arsenal still harbour ambitions of adding another defender, they have a hard-to-ignore opportunity in front of them.
Is Marc Guehi a transfer Arsenal can afford to ignore?
Following Crystal Palace’s Community Shield win, chairman Steve Parish admitted Guehi could leave if he continues to reject a new deal. Speaking as cited by Fabrizio Romano, he said:
“Of course, for players of that calibre to leave on a free, it is a problem.
“It needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.”
While Liverpool have been heavily linked with the England international, Arsenal should be all over this deal.
Guehi hijack would be a big summer win
Forget Alexander Isak, if Liverpool land Guehi that could be the signing that tips the title race. Arsenal cannot afford to let them close that deal.
If the Reds fail to reinforce their defence, they could be one Ibrahima Konaté or Virgil van Dijk injury away from losing their grip on the title. Arsenal have all the leverage to move for Guehi, their long-term target, whose ability to play across the backline would further strengthen Arteta’s defensive options.
And in doing so, they would deliver a massive blow to Liverpool, who have had an almost flawless summer window. With Arsenal competing on multiple fronts and Arteta keen to refresh his squad, Guehi, if he is as good as he believes, should be ready to fight for a starting spot at the Emirates.

Really like him, but we are quite stacked in that position now.
He’s ok but I don’t believe we want him or need him. As Kia said, we are stacked for CBs.

Unfortunately cannot troll Liverpool, their overtly fanatical fans live in a world all of their own where their squad and manager are there best there is and the coming title might as well be handed over to them now.

Arsenal HAS NO NEED FOR GUEYHI, unless they plan to sell both Saliba and Kiwor.
